I dont mean to bring up something that has been beaten to death enough already but I have a good idea of how to please the gay community and the homophobic community and those inbetween.

Just like in Modern Warfare 2, there will be a message in the beginning of the game. It will ask if you would like homosexual content to be included in your gameplay experience. If you answer "yes", then all the dialoge options will be included that can lead into a gay relationship. If you answer "no" then all "gay" dialoge option will not be available in your playthrough along with the ability to persue a gay relationship.

This way everybody can decide in the beginning if they want gay content in their playthrough. Homophobes can choose to not have any homosexuality in their favorite game and gays can have their homosexual relationships. Everybody would be happy. For those of you that played Modern Warfare 2, you can relate to what I am saying. I think this is a perfect solution to this ongoing debate.

What does everybody else think?

(I am against homosexuality but I figure that people are going to do what they're going do. Not everyone can be pleased but I think my solution makes everybody happy)

BioWare should just stop dodging around the issue and include the option(s) in ME3. Seriously... just put the content in there. It would stop people complaining. It's not as if Jade Empire and Dragon Age Origins caused the world to end or anything. And if one wants to avoid the content, simply make it clear and present right from the start, i.e. Obvious dialogue is obvious.

Some people are gay. Some people would like a gay romance option in Mass Effect.

Pretty simple. I don't think Bioware is Dodging anything, you could take the chocolate tunnel of love in Dragon Age. So they're not afraid to gay it up. I just think they don't have any personality written that would be gay.

To select the romances in the options is the second worst solution in my opinion (only not having them would be worse), ofcourse I am biased.

The other thread exists exactly to suggest and discus possible ways for putting homosexual relationships into ME3 or (2).

Some of them like making every flirt option more clearly visible would benefit straight romances too, others would make sure that it is impossible to accidently activate the same-sex romance or even come across it .

I think an easier solution is for the homophobes to grow up and realise some people have different sexuality preferences, instead of having silly "Do you want gay content?" questions at the start.

I don't want to pay for gay content. The end. I don't care about gay content, however. I just don't want my cash subsidizing something I don't give a rats ass about. Refund me 5 bucks if I don't want the gay content and we will talk.

It should be in there, yes. But the option should be set at the beginning in character creation, not like MW2. :/

More like the gaynahtzies need to grow up and quit expecting the world to revolve aorund their sexual debaucheries. There are more people with foot fetishes than gay people, but I don't want super duper foot inspection mode. There are 10 times more fat people than gay people, but I don't care or want to waste money on making sure they add fat people to the game.

Yea character creation would be a good place to put it. The point is to basically give people an option in the very beginning that can include or completely exclude homosexuality from their playthrough.

I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to people who would need the option to filter potential gay content out of their game.

I'm not gay, but I don't understand why it has to be different than the normal Mass1 and 2 relationships, aren't gays just people too? Honestly, someone who is appalled at the idea of an optional and self instigated gay romance in a videogame doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would be playing a videogame to begin with. I was always under the impression that we were a fairly liberal oriented art, discounting the Halo/MW2 crowd.

That would be me Godwood. I dont want ANY gay content in my favorite game because I am striaght and yes, if it were up to me the whole world would be straight. Obviosly not everybody can get their way. My proposed solution would make everybody happy. It can filter all homosexuality for the homophobes and it can include it for homosexuals. It should be supported, not become another arguement thread for the homos and homophobes

Bioware games generally are about the characters of the pc and the npcs that travel with him/her and romance is a big part of that. Play ME1 or 2 without romancing anyone, the gameplay does not change, but the emotional impact of the several important game sequenzes ( e.g. the Normandy lockdown in ME1) changes.
If you take into account that like all Bioware games ME has a third-person-view, which encourages many straight (wo-)men to play as the opposite sex, the size of the audiance for a m/m and f/f romance is not that surprising.

There are better ways to include an option to turn of any homosexual romance (before or after it started) in game.
As those that dont want any homosexuality in their ME game, though luck the games are already filled to the brim with f/f relationships between npcs and even with a female shepard there are several homosexual encounters in both games.
