That would be me Godwood. I dont want ANY gay content in my favorite game because I am striaght and yes, if it were up to me the whole world would be straight. Obviosly not everybody can get their way. My proposed solution would make everybody happy. It can filter all homosexuality for the homophobes and it can include it for homosexuals. It should be supported, not become another arguement thread for the homos and homophobes

I am straight also, as well as white and male.
That shouldn't mean I'd want the world populated with only straight white males (a sad, sad world it would be)
People should just be mature enough to accept that others have different sexual preferences and should let them have the option to pursue them and not need options to filter it out. (remember its optional its not like a gay character's going to rape the PC)

EDIT: Besides if straight female gamers can put up with being hit on by females (Liara, Shai'ira, Shiala and Morinth) then male gamers should be able to handle it too.

The OP's idea has got to be the worst (in that its the stupidest and least sensitive) way of addressing this issue I have heard, even trumping the big gay DLC pack. "Would you like your game flaming, camp or macho?" Jeez louise. I DOUBT the supporters of the M/M romance are gonna be happy with that.

What's with this excluding? Adult people are not mature enough to handle different sexual orientation issues? -.- If not, they should play solitaire..

It's puzzling - people are not bothered by some really violent and disturbing stuff in games, but sexuality is just too much to handle.

Indeed. Bioware's beancounters have invariably ran this through the financial palatability spreadsheet.

Tasted like sheet.

That's a rather poor way of addressing homosexuality. I think there is an easy way to satisfy gay players.

Have new gay or bisexual characters in ME3. Have players personally initiate gay romances and make sure there is very little room for misinterpretation. "I'm interested in being more than just friends with you."

BioWare should just stop dodging around the issue and include the option(s) in ME3. Seriously... just put the content in there. It would stop people complaining. It's not as if Jade Empire and Dragon Age Origins caused the world to end or anything. And if one wants to avoid the content, simply make it clear and present right from the start, i.e. Obvious dialogue is obvious.

Problem is, people don't seem to read what companions say, according to the THIS IS AN OUTRAGE posts against Zevran taking them to their tent for a Massage, despite the fact he CLEARLY SAYS SEVERAL TIMES that it will be far more then just a Massage, and asks you at least 20 times in the previous conversation if you are really sure you want to go ahead with this, at least if your a guy character.

Personally, I think both sides just need to shut up, and let Bioware do whatever Bioware wants to do. Changing the personality of a character just so you can get a romance is not the correct answer, and no offense, its pretty ****ing obious none of the characters in Mass Effect are homosexual, so why should they just randomly decide they like the same gender in ME3? Now if they add a new character who is actually homosexual, all power to that being a romance, but I'm sick and tired of seeing TALI IS CLEARLY A LESBIAN, JUST LOOK AT HOW HER POWERSUIT GLOWS WHEN SHE LOOKS AT FEMSHEP. Meanwhile however, homophobes need to actually read what characters say, and stop crying foul when they skip all the homosexual relationships lines asking them if they really want to engage in this relationship, and answering yes to everything.

I think an easier solution is for the homophobes to grow up and realise some people have different sexuality preferences, instead of having silly "Do you want gay content?" questions at the start.

More like the gaynahtzies need to grow up and quit expecting the world to revolve aorund their sexual debaucheries. There are more people with foot fetishes than gay people, but I don't want super duper foot inspection mode. There are 10 times more fat people than gay people, but I don't care or want to waste money on making sure they add fat people to the game.

Pull the stick out of your ass and put the Bible down. By the way, the volus are pretty chubby fellows.

Pretty bigoted of you to immediately attack a religion considering that there was nothing vaguely religious in his attack.

I don't think having a homosexual character in ME 1, 2, or 3 is going to do any thing for gay rights, legalizing gay marriage, or promote gay tolerance/acceptance. I suggest you people focus on something more productive.

I honestly don't see a problem with it (putting same sex relationships in the game). This is an M rated game, and any sane adult should be able to handle the fact that not everyone shares their sexual preference. And I can also understand why the gay community feels somewhat left out. Six romance-able characters, none of which are approachable by the same gender..

Personally, I don't really care that much though. The whole "love interest" subplot never appealed to me that much anyhow. But I still hope they'll include a gay romance option in ME3, both for male and female Shepard - if only for the sake of equality.

lulwut? Religion is choice, it deserves all the criticism it gets. I don't know any non-religious person that is homophobic or against gays, of course I live in America so it can be different worldwide. I admit my post was an ad-hominem, but that's not the point. The point is Bioware should not restrict the game to heterosexuality cause it makes a few people squeemish.

That you see a religious background as a prerequisite to be homophobic, against gays, or discriminating against any other given group reveals a lot about how narrowminded your point of view is. You've already made a decision against an entire group of people based on your comparatively limited experiences with people. I've known people that fall into the stereotype of Bible-thumping gay-hater. But I've known even more people who are put off by homosexuals because of their sexual practices, or because of the tactlessness that the more vocal ones exercise, or because they think it's "just plain weird" to see people of the same gender embracing and making out passionately; not because the acts offend God or whoever, whatever else. I am American as well, and in the South at that. The point of U.S. experience vs. the World is moot.

If religion deserves all the criticism it gets because it's a choice, then so does homosexuality. That is a choice too, right? Of course, you also have the contingent that say that homosexuality is something one discovers and doesn't consciously decide. Make your damn minds up about that already.

My personal opinion on the matter of things in game are that Bioware should have kept the consistency it had with equal opportunity relationships in all its other games. If so in them, why not Mass Effect? At the same time, as an aspiring author and having the tendency to experience most stories critically out of nature, I can understand why Bioware would choose not to have taken that route after all. Given that if you suddenly came into roommates and, one day, you solicit one of them (of your gender, for the sake of this example) for a relationship or sexual tryst, the odds are great that you would be rejected utterly.

This post has run overlong, so, in summary: people suck, and Bioware made a creative decision that you don't agree with. You are allowed to disagree with other people's views on the matter but do not proclaim yourself a cavalier for equality when you clearly have prejudices of your own to sort out.

So you have played as every class, done every romance option, done every mission and basicly seen all the content?
Very unlikely. You will always pay for content you dont use.
And allowing gay romances is as simple as setting a value from FALSE to TRUE. That would hardly take much of BioWares time.

Im not gay but im always all in for giving players the option to play as they want, specially in a RPG.
