Its such a wasted opportunity man. Kickass scenes like thane taking out a room of 4 guys and grunt killing the thresher maw just as its about to eat him. All that work into animating them, but none of them in the actualy game at all. WHy?
Why were cinematics from the trailer not included in the game?

They were just trailers intended to build interest, and only loosely based on the events of the game.Very cool yes, but I don't see why they need to actually be in the game. And of course you can't have the CGI trailers of Shepard in game because not everybody's Shepard looks like that.

The trailer is in the game. If you sit on the start screen long enough, the trailer will play.
It's in the ME2\\BioGame\\Movies folder, named "attractmovie.bik". Download the RAD Bink player and have fun!

The launch trailer uses in-game cutscenes and Normandy CGI, which is all available to see in-game.Fiedel wrote...

Using extra CGI in video game advertising isn't exactly new. All heavily marketed games make use of it. I figure at some point, marketers will just start filming live-action scenes for racing, sports and FPS games and claim that the graphics are perfectly realistic.

What i meant was they could have easily integrated some of the awesome cgi scenes into the game, since everybody's thane or grunt looks the same.
Btw, how do I improve the resolution of CGI scenes in game? They are of a noticeable lower resolution than in game.

That is true - they could have replaced Grunt's rather easily as the Thresher Maw death animation, but Thane would look awkward. Shepard's supposed to talk to him afterward, so there's no way to avoid switching back and forth from CGI Thane to in-game Thane.Fiedel wrote...

The CGI just seems to be pixelated that way. Sometimes the in-game textures (the faces, specifically) look better than the CGI.

Dude, it's an advertising thing.
Same deal with the high CGI quality Sacred Ashes trailer for DA:O. God, the marketing campaign on ME2 was insane during December and January. A bloody new video every 3 days or so.

same reason DA:O doesn't have cinematics like the Sacred Ashes Trailer showed....
it's marketing spin.nothing more. nothing less.

You don't. We can only hope that Bioware wises up and encodes them at a higher resolution for PCs in the next game, since 720p looks like ass on any modern PC screen.Fiedel wrote...
