Still thinking through preparations for an Insanity/level 60 play-through in ME1.  Is it worth doing one with Ashley in my party for most of the game to unlock the passive bonus to damage reduction?

Also,  is there any difference in experience gained between Hardcore and Insanity difficulties?  I think taking my 'prime' character from 1 to 50+ on an easier difficulty before importing him to an Insanity play-through might make the whole process easier.

Starting with a high level character will more or less nullify the difficulty of insanity. If you want to play insanity only for the achievement, then by all means do that. If you actually want a bit of a challenge, start from level 1.

There "might" be more xp on harder difficulty levels... but it's not significant as far as I can tell. But then, I haven't played on anything but insanity for a long time. You're still going to max out at 57-58 if you are meticulous about xp.

The 10% DR is good. I guess it just depends on how much trouble you have. If you rely primarily on DR for defense, you should probably do it.

Different sources of damage reduction stack multiplicatively so no, not really worth it just for the bonus. In practice what it means is that if you survive with under (about) 10% health with the bonus you would have been dead without but really that doesn't happen very often at all. It's better than a kick in the teeth but it's not worth an extra prep run.

Good to know.  I might restart my Infiltrator from 1 on an easier difficulty just to breeze through the first 58 levels & get other achievements before ratcheting up to Insanity.  That said, since Infiltrators can only wear medium armor, extra DR could probably come in handy...
