Mass Effect 1: Hurt or Heal?
If you've played the previous game (or played it elsewhere), you have the general idea. If you haven't...
We start with a list of characters from the game. Polling showed (even weakening the high end of the poll for people who weren't part of the game not understanding the poll) that people wanted more characters, so we are starting with 30. From that list you can, depending on the phase of the game, Hurt, Heal, or Hurt and Heal on each of your turns. You get one turn every 12 hours so only post after your previous turn says at least "created about 12 hours ago." The game goes until all characters but one are eliminated (or until a time limit is reached - more on that in a bit.)
Some changes to the rules to accommodate for what we learned from the Dragon Age game, changes tempered by what my polls showed.
1. From the start turns will be every 12 hours, as opposed to every 24 hours.
2. There will be phases to the game, some benchmarks, and a couple time limits. Just to keep things moving and to break up monotony. These rules will be in place from the start, so hopefully there will be no confusion.
3.There will be a section marked "copy with each turn" and I'd like to see that part copied along with the list of characters so new players can dive right in, hopefully.
Now, onto the phases of the game.
PHASE ONE: BUILD UP
All characters on the list start at 8 points.
In the first round of Mass Effect 1: Hurt or Heal?, each player on their turn can spend 4 points to heal characters. There is no hurting in the first round. This will see that only characters who prove popular to at least someone get points. Those 4 points can go all to 1 character, spread out 1 each to 4 characters, or any range inbetween. Each character can only reach a max of 40 points before no more points can be added to them. Phase One will end when 12 characters have reached 40 points.
PHASE TWO: HURT OR HEAL
Characters come into this round with their totals from the previous round.
Each player on the their turn has 4 points to spend. These points can be used to hurt a character on the list, heal a character, or any combination of the two, as long as the player spend no more than 4 points. There are no limits to how high a character can get this round, though once at 0 a character is eliminated. This round will last two weeks from when it begins.
PHASE THREE: TEAR DOWN
Characters come into this round with their totals from the previous round, all eliminated characters remain eliminated.
Each player on their turn can spend 4 points hurting characters on the list. A player can spend all 4 on hurting one character, 1 point each to hurt 4 separate characters, or any range inbetween. There is no healing in this round. This round will last two weeks, after which if there are more than ten characters remaining the game will continue until it reaches ten survivors. Once the round ends the characters will be ranked depending on when they were eliminated or, if there are survivors at the end, in order of the points they have left.
The game starts now, and the next post will be the one that should be copied each round until the next phase starts at which point the post will change to reflect the new rules (to keep people from getting confused.)
