Two nights ago I was in the middle of zoning into a mission and my computer locked up and restarted.  So I called it a night and then last night I opened ME2 and it asked me to connect to the Cerberus Network (like I was booting up the game for the first time).  Once I did I couldn't "RESUME" game so I went to LOAD and the most recent was all "Unknown Area   Time Played: 0h 0m 0s" and so I had to load the 2nd most recent one.  When I did that I noticed it said my character is a Colonist - Unspecified under background and all my achievements were gone (even from all my previous characters).

This is my third playthrough so I had a LOT of achievements... is there any way to get those back? Is there any way to re-specify my character's background so I'm Ruthless like I originally was?

there might be a way.

For the achievements: go to (default) C:\\Users\\"Username"\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile and right click on the player1.prf and click on "restore previous version" (or someting like that). that should restore some of your achievements (depending on the last save-point)

Thanks Tleining!!! I just had this happen when my comp crashed (or graphics card possibly overheated) playing the new Arrivial DLC. In either case, all the achievements were wiped. I was able to use a restore from a few days ago to get them all back. Lost the achievements for the new DLC but I can get that back using some saves.
