He plays a pivotal role in informing Shepard of this extreme, life-changing fact even after Shepard has been reminded about it twenty times.

I always have him and Miranda in the squad for every part of the suicide mission, since they both have warp. So, def. not useless!

What about Jack? Shes pretty useless in my opinion, i think i used her once in the suicide mission and i had to bring along Samara just so they could do a succesful Pull+Throw combo.

During your recruitment of Thane, he utilizes his eidetic memory to call upon the knowledge that attacking the Collectors would require passing through the Omega-4 relay, and that no one has ever returned.

Thane, Grunt and Zaeed are all useless.
Again, Grunt and Zaeed provide a lot of points at the Hold The Line portion of the suicide mission, Thane does not.
Yes, anyone can hold the line, but the devs have said that the people holding the line contribute a score value that, when combined, is used to determine who lives out of your Hold The Line squad, though I admit I don't know the values but the extremes of who provides the least points and most are Mordin and Grunt respectively. Devs have also hinted that Garrus and Zaeed contribute a lot of points, Thane could still contribute a fair score, but not as much as others.smudboy wrote...

I'm taking a role/story telling aspect of things (see my sig.)
I do not know of whatever hidden "points" this Hold The Line aspect is. For all we know, in the storytelling, anyone can "hold the line." All the characters I used did so just fine.

You're drunk if you think Thane is useless. Raise your difficulty and come back and post.

The "Hold the Line" reasoning is a bit of a stretch. While Grunt and Zaeed are referenced has being good for the job due to the stats they contribute to the defense check, that doesn't mean they have the highest. The article you're referencing is simply giving examples, making it an invalid point to use. Thane contributes to this stat, and unless you have concrete data on just how much, you can't really associate this with his "uselessness."
I wish there was some sort of reward, if you beat it on insanity, since I've beaten it more than 1 time, it's pretty annoying at some times, and some side missions seem freakin' harder then the "Suicide " mission. besides I didn't even get the achievement for completing the game on Insanity, also a downer lol.Vaenier wrote...

That makes him more useless though...
Besides, I always play on insanity, it cant go higher. I wish there was a Legendary setting.

Hmm, Then I state : Jack is useless, I HAVE NEVER EVER USED her, She does not have good powers to use in combat, so I don't use her, She is useless at the end of the game, doesn't have any kind of help to me and she's just a plain annoying character always ****ing and whinning about how hard it is. I don't know if it's intentional or just bad writting.
Even on insanity the husk waves were god damn easy, with the right squad selection and weapons.NICKjnp wrote...

If she is loyal when you recruit Samara then she shines.... squad warp ammo.
On hardcore and insanity I agree she is useless because husk have armor... but on lower difficulties (veteran and below) she can use shocwave on the biotic bubble run (bye bye husk rush).

I think most of you Thane lovers are unaware of what the OP is trying to say:
That Thane is useless to the suicide mission. Which is the point of the game. To argue his usefulness as a squadmate is not the argument, nor has any bearing here.
