So, I've decided I wanted to try a different approach to how I typically write; namely I wanted to mix in different point of views. Mass Effect seemed like a pretty good vehicle for such an experiment, and thus "Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit" was born.

Anyways, the story is set, well, I'm not quite sure how to describe its setting; it does take place during both the Krogan Rebellions and the modern era. If you read it, it'll come together.

I've gotten a bit of positive feedback, as well as some constructive criticisms, so any sort of comments would be greatly appreciated. Praise, criticism, flames, all are welcome.

Notes
*Some minor spoiler warnings for both ME1 and ME2. Though, I suspect if you're browsing these forums, you're not too worried about spoilers.

*I'm having a hard time finding any canon information regarding the Krogan Rebellions. All of the information I've gathered are from either the Mass Effect wiki Krogan Rebellions article or answers provided in this thread. So, if you've got any feedback in regards to fluff and lore, I'd be greatly appreciative.

*Related to the above, I cannot find anything on quarians, especially their culture pre-Migrant Fleet. Considering the Krogan Rebellions take place some thousand years prior to the geth creation/rebellion, I assume their culture, society, and everything was completely different. Again, feedback is appreciated.

I like what I've read so far, but I'm not getting much of a connection (thematic or otherwise) between the two viewpoints, so it feels a bit disjointed. I'm guessing maybe there's a mother/daughter thing going on here; if so, I'd drop some hints sooner rather than later. Or have I missed something that should be massively obvious? For a while I thought maybe "you" and Aesira were meant to be the same person, but you give Aesira's age as way too young to have been in the Krogan Rebellions.

I wonder if that's a mistake on my part, revealing their ages so soon.

When I was planning this out, I debated how soon and to what extent I would reveal the connection between the two characters. Now that you mention it, I might go with something sooner rather than later.
