This forum should be renamed to: "Take a look at the new Mass Effect figures...THAT YOU CAN'T GET!"

this

Now, the only thing I can do is to look at the preview picture of Miranda action figure and cry.

Well, at least we know one prototype exists...I'm GOING TO GET IT !

It's even more frustrating to know that the action figure exists and that it's cancelled. :(

I am quite disappointed about these news. Mass Effect has so much marketing potential and yet the responsible people are letting all this just slip away :(

If they don't come by mid-march with my lithographs and N7 t-shirt, I'm going to be very, very dissapointed... Though I know it ain't your fault, BioWare.

Not sure if you've seen this, but here'a link, just in case.

DC Direct Vs Mass Effect 2

Well that really blows. Even if Bioware gets a contract with another toy producer, it's extremely unlikely they'll be in the same style, or even the same scale. Dang, wish they had Garrus and Legion in the first wave

I said it before but I'll say it again...at the earliest, by the time Bioware secures another company to make ME figures and then for those figures to actually be produced and go through all the phases of acceptance by Bioware, ME3 will already be out.

Therefore, I think it makes more sense to not only go with a retailer who can get the job done right and on time, but to focus on the entire ME franchise and release characters from all 3 games. Either mix up the series to include characters from all 3 games, or release rotating series focusing on each game (Series 1 is ME1, Series 2 is ME2, Series 3 is ME3, Series 4 is ME1, Series 5 is ME2, Series 6 is ME3, and so on).

It's be easy to release every major shipmate and side characters (Joker, Anderson, etc) and villains (Saren, Collectors, Husks) within 8 or 9 series, which on a 3 series per year schedule would see the line complete by 2015 or 2016, probably right around the time a new ME series would be debuting on the next gen systems...thus allowing new characters to be made and continue the life of the line.

Ideally, I'd like to see a reliable company who do quality work. I'm not too knowledgable about toys in general, but I've heard Neca and McFarlane toys do decent work (though a buddy of mine was less than impressed with McFarlane's handling of the Halo figures...something about them often being broken even before coming out of the package because of their detail).

DC Direct have done a horrible job, not only with releasing them but with the figures themselves. Seeing these things at Toy Fair, they look cheap and unposable. I don't think they put very much effort into making these things at all.

Can't say I'm disappointed to see them lose the licence and I hope Bioware go with someone like NECA or McFarlane in the future, who can make some much better looking merchandise.

I just canceled my order for the Garrus and Mordin figures I ordered. They're never coming out, and I need the 50-some dollars I shelled out for them so I can pay bills this month. At this point, I think I'm just going to have to wait for ME3. I'm sure Bioware will work out a deal for action figures with that game. Now, if Garrus isn't in ME3, then I will be very, very sad. :(

I might buy the Tali action figure, just because its Tali. She doesn't look right though; not as slender and curvy as she should be. D:

Hopefully a higher quality company will step up to the footplate.

Randy (a guy working for NECA) indicated that some other company had already taken over the license, but did not elaborate on which company that may have been.

I hope Mezco or MacFarlane at this point, but ME's figures done by Neca would have been such masterpieces... oh well, nice to know that something is moving on.

Personally I'd hope for McFarlane (but 7" not those tiny Halo scale figures). As for Mezco - they had their ups and downs imho. Hellboy was really cool while other series were weak.
I'd love Square-Enix do it, I doubt they will though.

You get the point. MacFarlane is still one of the best companies around, but I'm worried about the size of the figures, considered the Halo series. Mezco is more used to work on any kind od scale for their models, but also the overall quality of the is a bit too much variable. Oh well, we'll see... I guess we won't know anything new until BW won't have the new prototypes and some strong insurance that the any eventual new stuff will be released without delays.

If 5 inch McFarlane ME figures give me sweet sweet articulation, then hell yes I'll take 'em 5 inch. At that scale we'd probably get a Mako or Hammerhead out of that deal. Ingame Mako, eh; Toy Mako, Hell yes!

I think Mezco would do a great job I really enjoyed their The Spirit and Kick Ass figures and their various Hellboy figures including the comic line. So i think they'd do a great job with ME.

I hope that McFarlane has the licence and they make them in 7 inch scale with some decent articulation. Mezco has also done a good job with the movie Hellboy lines. Sadly, I don't think we would get new figures until after ME3 but I'm hoping for an anouncement or prototypes to be shown by Comic Con in July.

After the release of the actual figures (admitting it will ever happen) BioWare will cancel any further collaboration with DC Direct, and that's confirmed. Plus some posts ago a guy working for Neca said that the ME's licence was already re-assigned.
