Randy (a guy working for NECA) indicated that some other company had already taken over the license, but did not elaborate on which company that may have been.

Really?
Cool, but what game?
ME3 or DA 2?

I'd love to see 5" figures...   I'd also like to see multiple waves spanning all 3 games.    If the price is right... I'd buy every single one.

Awesome! Still waiting for mine to ship via Bioware Store... So now that you have them in person, how would you rank the 4 figures? Which is best? From the photos I've seen, Grunt, Tali, and Shepard all look pretty good, but Thane looked a little lacking.

Shepard comes out on top for me. He's the most poseable and they've tweaked his headsculpt a bit from the prototypes. Grunt looks fantastic and has a certain amount of poseability too. Tali is a little restricted in the leg department, but still sound and Thane is sculpted in such a way that he's only geared up for one pose (why they had to give him one shoulder at the front, I don't know!)

Articulation issues aside, they look absolutely fantastic lined up together.

Incidentally, when Ace got them in, DC were shipping two Shepards and Grunts to one Tali and Thane per case, so the latter two might get tricky to pick up.

The sculpting has lots of detail and they do look beautiful displayed as a set on a shelf. There is some basic articulation but they are not very posable; Thane has such an extreme pose that I can't keep him standing on his own (even with his stand). The main paint issue to look out for is Shepard's 5 o'clock shadow; some figures had this applied unevenly with darker shadow on one side or crooked mustache. Shephard does come with a removable helmet to cover his face if you get a bad paint job.

Too bad series 2 was cancelled, it would have been awesome to have more squadmates..

I caved and ordered a Shepard off eBay, surprisingly it was the cheapest shipping I've seen for Canada for these figures. I'll take my chances with Dark Horse for the other characters though.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see where the licensing goes for the next wave...

How is the detail of their weapons? From the prototypes I've seen, the weapons seem a little on the large side. Especially Shepard's rifle and Tali's shotgun. Also, can the figures actually hold their weapons decently?

I ordered them through Amazon. Gotta search for them in toy section (mass effect 2 or mass effect series 1), wont show up normally... but they are there. Shipped from their partners, and supplies are limited.

Got a Shepard and a Tali in the mail, and they will stay in the box next to all my other gaming collectables.

Awesome! Im keeping in the box but I doubt I would ever sell them. Also my LEGO Batman sets are worth something. Opened but still worth something and i still wont sell.

Yeah, they will be a nice new addition to a growing 'still in box' collection of figures from Resistance, Batman: Arham Asylum, Halo: Reach, Bioshock 2, Gears of War 2, Dead Space 2, a Star Wars: Darth Reven, and several Final Fantasy pieces (X, 13, and Advent Children).

Not a huge collection, but a nice little gaming area in the corner.

I'm a terrible collector (no, not that kind of Collector!) in that regard.

I always have to take them out of the box and play with them.

And it'll be the same for these ones as well.

Same here Tilarta. I just bought Shepard - will keep him in his helmet, but he'll definitely come out of the box and be displayed alongside the new miniature Normandy :-)

The weapons are really well detailed. The shotguns are a lttle on the large side and Tali has some issues holding hers (I discovered she holds it best if you put both of her fingers through the trigger guard). Tali comes with the Scimitar, while Grunt has the Claymore.

Shepard's Avenger and Thane's Predator (?) are excellent, the rifle in particular.

And with regards to opening them or not, how can they patrol your desk if they're stuck in their plastic tombs?

Cool. I definitely plan to open mine... The only figure I ever kept in the packaging was my Reptile from Mortal Kombat, and that was because I got two of them. My Mass Effect figures are gonna be opened and displayed with all my other figures. I'm actually gonna put them right next to my laptop so I can see them when I'm on my computer. Plus, how can you re-paint or touch it up if they're in the box :P Although it sounds like they actually already turned out pretty good with the paint; I'll just have to wait and see.

Figures are now instore at Forbidden Planet, London UK. Maybe they got an invite to the Royal wedding ? Image IPB
Had about 10 of each out on display rack I think (presumably more in stock room). Also on web-site http://forbiddenplan.../?q=mass effect
They have various stores around the country - http://forbiddenplanet.com/stores/

Lots of copies of Mass Effect: Evolution #4 in as well, but I think they will go soon.

Play.com are also selling the figures but they are still only pre-order for some reason.

This is a little off topic but the I found a pre-order for the SSV Normandy Ship replica. This is due out in November and retails for $29.99-$34.99.

That is pretty cool, wonder how long it is. TBH though I'd rather have a Reaper than the Normandy.
