I ordered them through Amazon. Gotta search for them in toy section (mass effect 2 or mass effect series 1), wont show up normally... but they are there. Shipped from their partners, and supplies are limited.

Got a Shepard and a Tali in the mail, and they will stay in the box next to all my other gaming collectables.

thanks for that Image IPB    ordered Tali for my brother - only had one left in stock when I went over to Amazon

Man I just looked them up on Amazon.  I'm surprised Grunt is more expensive then Tali; every single retailer I've seen Tali has always been the most costly.  Anyway, seeing them there on Amazon, in stock... Damn that's tempting, but I already have them ordered through Bioware.  Why it is taking the extra time for them to get them in stock and ship is beyond me.  There has been so many delays, now that they're out waiting an extra few days feels unbearable.

When someone will get them, could he/she please post some decent pictures of the figures? I'd like to see how really this models looks like, considered that until now we saw only the prototypes, and the phoshopped photos of the prototypes from the Dc-Direct's catalogue.

Just got mine in today, which is crazy cause they were originally set for delivery between 5/3-5/16, or something like that. But anyways, they look pretty freaking cool. Still trying to decide if I should open them or not.

Got mine in! I'll try to take some pictures. They look amazing. It makes me so sad we're not going to see Series 2.

Yeah it's a shame with series 2. Mordin looked exceptional. Anyway I emailed the Bioware store support and they said they got them in, and are in the process of shipping them out.

HOLY CRAP!
Aight, so I gave into the urge of opening them up right. And I have got one question for anyone to answer, did Grunt's left leg fall off! I swear I am so pissed off right now.

Just "felt off" or broken? Because you know... if the leg has a bolljoint in the end of it you have just to push it back in place.

Just got my set via UPS. They all look awesome. It's too bad DC took so long to get these out. Got 2 Shepards so I can stand one on my entertainment center. The others are staying in the package.

Nah dude, it literally fell the freak off! I was taking it out of the plastic all careful like, same way I did the others (which all survived). Then I lifted it up to admire the detail, tilted it vertically. MISTAKE! The left leg just slid right off. And its not a joint, its a square block that slides into place with nothing catching it, with the joint being above it. No idea why it was made like that.

Also im assuming it should be an easy glue fix, but since I have no idea what type of glue to use for the figure (never did this before), im lost. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just use super glue.  I bought a Halo Reach Grunt a few months ago and the same thing happened; its leg fell right off when I lifted it up.  I just jused loctite super glue and that took care of it.  JUST make sure you pose the leg in a way you want, cuz you won't be able to move it afterward obviously.

Okay, all - pics and reviews coming at you! I'll have to do this in chunks.
First, a group shot -
Overall impressions are that the figures look great. There are a few paint issues there and there but overall they are gorgeously sculpted and have a decent range of movement (except poor Thane, but more on that later.) I've been waiting for ME figures since the first game and it's really bittersweet that we get some great looking figures... only to have the line pulled out from under us before it even began.
I guess I understand Bioware's thinking on this but I REALLY hope they can use the same size and sculpts from Series 2 and make them with some other company.

First up is Grunt. They have done a great job of capturing the character of Grunt. He's got a decent range of movement for such a large figure and he's really thickly built.
Image IPB
His head can only move from side to side, but combined with his waist movement and his articulated wrists you can get a good amount of expresiveness out of him.Image IPB
Here's his back. I think it shows off the cool detail of the figure. There are a ton of nice paint apps as well.Image IPB
And the last shot. His gun is awesome, as are all the weapons.Image IPB

Next up, we might as well get the big disappointment of the line out of the way. Thane is one of my favorite characters, and it's kind of sad what happened to him in figure form.

Image IPB

Looks pretty good, huh? Captures his personality well, and it's a cool pose. But you'd better like this pose because it's the only one he can do! Seriously, everything else just looks odd.

Image IPB

Here we see another problem. He's perpetually looking down. This is as far forward as he can look. The only way to show him looking at you is by bending his body back as though he's doing the limbo.

Image IPB

Also, unattractive hunchback.

Image IPB

Incredibly weird shoulders.

Image IPB

To end on a positive note, the detailing on his jacket is good. And never fear, he's the only real dud of the bunch in my book. And even with that, he's not a bad looking statue. It's just a shame such a cool character can't be a bit more posed.

Now for the main man himself, Commander Shepard! He's probably one of my favorite figures of the line, overall. The detail on his suit is fantastic, and the battered look of his armor is nicely done and subtle.

CLICK FOR LARGER
Image IPB

I'm not in love with his face sculpt though. He looks pretty good here. But it's odd... in some light he almost looks like he's grinning, which is weird. But as you can see he does have a determined look on his face. The 5 o'clock shadow is nicely done. There's a big nick missing from the hairline of mine on the left. At first I thought this was a mistake... but it seems to be there on his pics! I guess it's a scar. I never noticed it before. Pretty cool attention to detail there!

Image IPB

I prefer the helmeted look. Partly because it could be "my" Shepard now. I do wish (perhaps somewhat paradoxically) that the visor of the helmet was a bit see-through. As long as it was still fairly dark, it could have still worked well. But that's a minor complaint. The helmet is nice and snug and it's made of soft enough plastic that is shouldn't scratch the paint on the face underneath AND the chin strap fits under his chin nicely.

Image IPB

Like all the other weapons, Shepard's is very faithfully recreated.

Image IPB

Here's a look at his backside. Again, a huge amount of sculpted and paint detail are present. As far as articulation, Shepard is a bit limited. He can do some great poses standing, but his armor sculpt and the way his hips were engineered really limit his movement in this area. Also, his arm movement is limited by his shoulder pads. I tried to move his left arm too much and the shoulder pad popped right off! It should be pretty easy to fix with glue, but just know his movement is pretty limited there!

Well, I'm still waiting for my Grunt to be delivered but at least now the wait is over and I know for a fact that it'll be there soon enough.

And finally, what is probably my favorite figure of the bunch. She's not without problems, mind you, but overall they did so many great things here it's hard to complain.

Image IPB

Tali is very well constructed. The sashes of fabric on the lower part of her outfit attach to her belt and are a separate, soft piece that is then glued to her leg. The effect is that her legs retain a ton of movement no matter what pose you put her into. She also has a fairly well hidden torso twist that really lets her be posed in a ton of great poses.

Image IPB

The stands that come with the figures are just plain black discs but they are functional, which is nice. Tali's omni-tool is cast from a transparent orange material which looks cool in the right lighting. It is a shame they couldn't have made the visor in her helmet semi-transparent with a vague face-shape behind it. Her head turns independent of her cowl, which can either look very cool or weird depending on how you pose it.

Image IPB

Her gun is fantastic, but her fingers are made from soft plastic and it's VERY hard to get it just so that the gun will stay in. The nice part about her fingers being malleable is that you can get her finger on the trigger. The downside is that it's so malleable it starts to lose it's grip on the gun and it's tricky to get to stay in there.

Image IPB

Again, some really fantastic details on the back.

Image IPB

There were some paint imperfections. A circular section of paint is missing on the neck and near the top of her face visor (the latter is pretty well covered by her cowl in these pics) and there is paint slop near the visor as well. It's regrettable such defects are on her face, as most of the rest of her looks great. If you have the chance to get her in the shop (versus online like myself) you may want to double-check this area.

So to recap on all the figures, overall I'm very happy with the figures. There are some serious issues, and I would have preferred all the characters be more "neutrally" stanced. But really Thane is the only figure that's overlly pre-posed, which is a great improvement over DC Direct's offering for World of Warcraft. There are a ton of great choices made for the engineering of the articulation that it makes it a real shame that there are some parts of the figures that let them down. But the quality of the paint apps are superb and the sculpts capture the cool detail and personality of the ME universe perfectly.

What makes me the saddest though is that this line is already over. Garrus, Mordin and Miranda were some of my most-anticipated characters. I wish we'd at least gotten them before the line was cancelled. They had to have been fairly far along. My only hope is that Bioware somehow retains the rights to those sculpts and that if the line moves to another manufacturer (maybe Darkhorse, who are doing the Normandy replica?) we'll get the next series.

My greatest fear is that they'll change the scale, sculpt, or paint quality if they make more toys and I'll be stuck with 4 oddities. Don't get me wrong, they are definitely worth owning for what they are...

But they are also a slightly sad marker for what could have been had things worked out differently.

Thanks for the review and pics! The wait is killing me here. I agree with you, it sucks that series 2 is cancelled. The sad thing is even IF another company makes a new line of figures in the same scale, no way the sculpting will match up between them.

Nice pics, gives me some relief that the figures turned out pretty decent after all the hoopla with DC Direct (mine should arrive in the mail by Monday).

Right, scratch that. I just got a Grunt from my local nerd store.
How about that? I wait for months on end for something halfway across the world and then I get the exact same thing from my own city.
But still... YAY I have a Grunt!!

They look great. I also went to the local comic shop and they had one of each character. I held each one in my hand... and gazed at them... and thought they were pretty...

... then I realized I not only had enough money for them at that moment, but that I Pre-Ordered them and still waiting for my confirmation on them being sent...

Oh happy days are coming.

Great pics, eagerly waiting for Shepard and Tali to show up in the next week

What a shame Series 2 was cancelled - really would have liked Miranda

There are so many characters I would love to see from the Bioware Games - from Bastila to Leliana to Garrus etc

Thank you for the pics, as I suspected they're better than how they looked in the promotional photos. I hope that they'll arrive in my country's comics stores too. If not well, there's alway E-Bay...
