I know a lot of people probably won't like this but I think it would be cool to have a traitor. I think that the traitor will be Legion. First because we had to fight geth in the first game. Second it because he just comes out of no where and we accept everything he tells us to be the truth. But if you think about it he would be the ultimate traitor. He an AI, he has no feeling. He could kill his own people without hesitation or remorse. I like Legion to and I think that would give the most surprised feeling. Better then having a new character from ME3 to do it.
Using that logic about AI, the same could be said about EDI being a traitor. I believe Legion and dont see him as being the type to trick Shepard. If he hated Shepard and wanted him dead, he would have killed Shepard right there and then. Not ask Shepard for help in reprograming the heretics.

I think traitors like Yoshimo from BG2 brings a lot of emotions and OMFG feeling....do you think a traitorous crew member would be cool? If yes who?
I think a good traitor would be Miranda...she works for Cerebus and we all know TIM is going to betray us

When we think about it....maybe the council is indoctrinated....they are still keeping their eyes closed on the reapers even after the evidence was in their faces
Okay this is just IT! Ever since people started looking at TIM's eye they have suddenly stated that they could all have been indoctrinated. Seriously.... Next time you're gonna tell me Shepard was really indoctrinated as well and Anderson too...

ehhh, don't worry about it. I'm sure that is not the only thing worthwhile in the game's storyline. I'll probably still enjoy it.
No worries.

If we do have a traitor though it should be either Legion or a new Squad mate in Mass Effect 3.
Out of all the Mass Effect 2 Squadmates, Legion is the most enigmatic. We know he is apparently part of a Geth faction that opposes the Reapers but beyond that we know little. Also, we still have no idea why he chose to use Shepard's armor to repair himself.
When pressing him on it, it seemed like he was hiding something..
Yes, I know I'm referring to him as a he even though he is genderless.
None of the other Squadmates from Mass Effect 2 would work as traitors in my opinion. We know too much about them and if we were to just suddenly find out they're traitors it would probably seem really contrived.

You still haven't figured it out yet? SHEPARD is the traitor. His mind was taken over by the reapers the first time he touched a Prothean beacon. No matter what choices you made, ME3 will end with Shepard laughing maniacally as he hands over the galaxy to his reaper overlords.
Well that would be unexpected....but not really Epic

Would be Epic...but I see no reason for her to betray...
Garrus (even if he is my fav char) would be Epic if he was indoctrinated or something....Because Garrus always searched a way to fullfill a hole in his life (that why he went to Omega) and maybe the Reaper can promise him ultimate justice or something...it could work out
But as someone mentionned b4...the traitor can't really be someone who can die in ME2...because this traitor needs to be part of the main plot

Sure. Sorry, I got carried away.
They don't need to put in a traitor to make the story interesting and moving. Their story-telling skills are better than that, come on. Just because it's an adventure game, full of action (you know, a space opera), doesn't mean it has to include every possible story twist and gimmick they can shove in.
Shepard has a good squad, there are tensions in it already. Those characters can create a lot of drama. The possibilities are endless. Why use the easy backstab story? (or if it's a Krogan, a facestab?).
Because it works and bring in good emotions...they can continue their good story telling and all...but just spice thing up even more don't you think?
In every game where you realize someone betrayed you in some way...you will get carried away and all....it an old formula but it always work
What I mean is that it is the easiest way of spicing things up. Sure, betrayal is dramatic. But there are other ways to create drama. Not all of them are gonna be innovative, but betrayal... Just doesn't fit in Shepard's squad.
P.S.: On a more personal, subjective note: Having someone very close to Shepard do something like that would upset me, in the wrong way. Like smashing the screen with a hammer way.

Tali as a traitor would be a bad idea because there is absolutely nothing about her that might suggest she is one. We know too much about Tali and we know she couldn't possibly betray Shepard.
Legion on the other hand is still a bit of a mystery, he would make a great traitor in Mass Effect 3. In fact, I'm thinking he may even be Mass Effect 3's main antagonist.

If Tali, or Garrus were to be indoctrinated, I would consider them victims, not traitors.
I think a great theme for Mass Effect 3 would be Shepard struggling with indoctrination. The player can do a mission where he thinks he's stopping the Reapers but in the end he realizes he was playing right into their hands and actually helping them.
