I don't want the traitor to be someone who the player has no chance of even figuring out might be a traitor.
Tali as a traitor would be a bad idea because there is absolutely nothing about her that might suggest she is one. We know too much about Tali and we know she couldn't possibly betray Shepard.
Legion on the other hand is still a bit of a mystery, he would make a great traitor in Mass Effect 3. In fact, I'm thinking he may even be Mass Effect 3's main antagonist.

That would be freaking epic....the only problem is that he can die in ME2

Technically he can't die his platform can be destoryed, but he could always get a new one since the geth body's are platform's and they can download themselves into new platform's. All he would have to do is send every part of himself via FTL network, it's possible he could do that even if his platform his destoryed, cause TIM contacts you I assume via the FTL network when inside the Collector base.

There was no carrier. That would be the geth equivalent of death. I dont see any ME2 squad, Ash, or Kaiden being the traitor. It will be either someone new or 1 of 2 people who has survived all three games:

Udina
Dr. Chakwas

Dr Chakwas can die.

What about that one Asari (forget her name) from Saren's base on Virmire? If you let her live in ME1 and transfer your save into ME2, you see her again when you recruit Grunt.

I would rather see something along the lines of Ashley/Kaidan being named a Spectre and being told to bring you in for a trial and you either have to convince them to help you, comply with them, or kill them.

That would be nice twist, but the traitor thing is just dumb. The whole point of the ME series is the loyalty of the crew. In the first one is a military mission so discipline keeps the crew in line. In ME2 is about impossible mission so absolute loyalty is needed. It would be dumb change it now.

And i can't remember a single game where the big betrayal twist would have been done well. You can always spot the traitors miles away. For example Yoshimo. Oh come on, the guy has TRAITOR written on his forehead the first time you meet him.

These big traitor plots are always the most boring and predictable "twists" you can have. So no traitors in ME3 please.

I think traitors like Yoshimo from BG2 brings a lot of emotions and OMFG feeling....do you think a traitorous crew member would be cool? If yes who?

I think a good traitor would be Miranda...she works for Cerebus and we all know TIM is going to betray us

What do you think?

How can Miranda betray you if she resigns from Cerberus? What purpoise would be to betray if you got nowhere to go anyway? And since i romanced her... Still, can't see betrayal in her.

Shepard: "Pressly? I thought you were dead!"
Pressly: "That's what I wanted you to think. It's easy to spread misinformation when you're in my position. You see, I am the Shadow Broker! Now DIE, Shepard!"

[After a grueling firefight inside an explding Reaper, Shepard prevails, sending Pressly to his death.]

Shepard: "The commanding officer has the deck. XO Pressly stands relieved."

Surely the obvious betrayal is simply EDI, possibly manipulated by Cerberus? EDI will exist whatever your Shepard did in ME2, and if you destroyed the base, Cerberus may wish revenge, and if you saved the base, Cerberus may think you're more of a danger to them, coupled with not needing you anymore, and betray you. Either way, it creates a feasible scenario (even if it's just "Reaper bug in system turns the AI on them... eventually"), that can happen to anyone's Shepard independant of the events of ME1&2.

Its going to be Dr. Michel. Did anyone else think she was too eager to see you once she learned you were alive? Also how would she get your address?

Same way everyone else apparently. Besides she didn't want to see you, just Garrus, you sadly had to come along with him.

I am thinking EDI might betray you, either because she is made of reaper tech, or because of some hidden protocol TIM placed. Plus AI's are rarely the good guys.

Conrad Verner... he'll be so jealous of Shepard by ME3 that he'll want to take his place

Even a disloyal member will get her to safety but die in the process. If you send no escort then she dies.

Agreed, her "resignation" was a little too abrupt and convenient.  I'm pretty sure it is all just a setup from TIM.  I figure he ordered her to do it if Shep went rogue just so he can make sure to keep a set of eyes and ears on Shepard.

I think a traitor would be awesome, but they couldn't pick on someone's LI. It'd have to be one of the others. And def NOT Legion!

Mordin (after lengthy deductive explination): Sorry Shepard, siding with Reapers only logical course of action.
Shepard: Mordin! They've indoctrinated you!
Mordin: Understandable conclusion. However have never spent prolonged period on Reaper. Deduction Shepard, not indoctrination... Told you once. Wish I was not so intelligent, but must be. Someone else..might get it wrong.

Well I've heard theories that someone planted a transmitter on the Normandy, which is why it was found by the collector ship at the beginning of the game, if that turns out to be true it would mean there was a traitor

I however simply believe the stealth systems didn't work because the collectors have more advanced technology

Wow! it true....how the hell did the collector's ship foudn the Normandy lol

Yes, a traitor would be cool, but not a squad mate. Make us have to put a bullet in a rogue Batarian fleet comander, but not a sqaud mate character because they are loyal and not even indocrinated squad mate could be forced to betray you. Saren conquored indocrination with Soverign 50 ft. away, your squad mates have much more will power and reason to fight than he did.

I don't know if I would consider somebody being indoctrinated as a traitor. Treason requires a free will which is antithetical to indoctrination.
If Tali, or Garrus were to be indoctrinated, I would consider them victims, not traitors.

I think a great theme for Mass Effect 3 would be Shepard struggling with indoctrination. The player can do a mission where he thinks he's stopping the Reapers but in the end he realizes he was playing right into their hands and actually helping them.

Did you feel Saren was a victim?

And even if they were a victime....killing them would be even more painful

Yeah, this is why I think it would be horrible to see an old squadmate get indoctrinated.  They don't have to be traitors, indoctrination plays that role out just fine.

I could not imagine what I would do if I saw Garrus or Wrex get indoctrinated.
