I don't want there to be a traitor, because there's only 3 members of the Normandy 2 crew that couldn't die in ME2. EDI, Joker, and Dr. Chakwas, and I wouldn't want it to be any of them.

I know a lot of people probably won't like this but I think it would be cool to have a traitor. I think that the traitor will be Legion. First because we had to fight geth in the first game. Second it because he just comes out of no where and we accept everything he tells us to be the truth. But if you think about it he would be the ultimate traitor. He an AI, he has no feeling. He could kill his own people without hesitation or remorse. I like Legion to and I think that would give the most surprised feeling. Better then having a new character from ME3 to do it.

Your whole premise is retarded, lying is illogical for a machine to even do it's a wast of bandwidth. Besides shepard questioned him thourghly and what he said makes perfect since.

ME3 needs a traitor, like a fish needs a bicycle.

No, instead we'll find out Harbinger is Shepard's father, and wants to bring him over to the Dark Side.

SPOILER ALERT!

In ME3, Garrus takes that stick out of his butt and kills you with it. Then he shoves it back in.

I'm working on an idea for an expansion story for ME2 I'm rolling out soon. Long story short, it rips your heart out and gives the Council enough reason to believe you're not just a traitor but a murderer, which will sideline you until ME3.

So what your saying is that no one has ever believed a lie. That it is impossible for Shepherd to believe a lie. And that lies usually don't make sense? If that machine was was programmed to betray Shepherd then it's not illogical for legion to lie. All I'm saying is that in Legion's loyalty mission you plan a virus that you don't know what it contains and because Legion tells you it's a good thing you do it, In my opinion Legion would make the most sense of being a traitor. And we are still fighting geth, and Legion is the only geth that is friendly that we have come across.

A traitor isn't necessary; you don't need a back-stab to make a interesting plot point, as it was said on page 1.

Also, it wouldn't make sense; none of the characters have motivation. Shepard earned all of their loyalty (subjective), so why would they back-stab him? They're his team.

I think it will be EDI. AI's going rogue are typical in stories - and up until now EDI has been nothing but a plot device.

Shepard: Anderson! You are the traitor!

Anderson: That's right, Shepard. I went looking for Saren when he was still alive and I found him. It is strange how a few days on board that Reaper can change your point of view, but I came to see the truth.

Shepard: I knew I should've chosen Udina.

Anderson: Oh the fool is dead now. Did you even wonder why the council is always against you? Well now you know.

Anderson: ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL.

And why should BioWare follow the norm? It's already been very interesting for bucking much of the AI Is A Crapshoot tropes that goes on with the geth and EDI, and I'd be kinda disappointed in BW if it went 'kso EDI is a Reaper lolololol'.

I think traitors like Yoshimo from BG2 brings a lot of emotions and OMFG feeling....do you think a traitorous crew member would be cool? If yes who?

I think a good traitor would be Miranda...she works for Cerebus and we all know TIM is going to betray us

What do you think?

In all deference to your avatar...if it was anyone it would be Garrus. look at his missions from ME1 and 2. That guy just doesn't learn. He is a lit fuse ready to go, very prone to violence with his own brand of justice, and very self-assure.

Heh, well the big plot twist for me was EDI not goign rogue. I kept looking at that AI core and the life support area(before I recruited Thane) and thought,"oh yeah here we go, I am going to have to at some point turn the machine off and restore life support manually because the machines always turn on us"
I was pleasantly surprised. Honestly i would like to go through one Bioware product without the whole big surprise trope. frankly they have overdone the whole traitor thing in the past.

I'm not saying that Mass Effect  NEEDS a traitor, what I'm saying is if there were to be one I think it would be Legion. I think if there were to be one here are the two things it should follow.

1) I think in order for it to be an effective move for there to be a traitor I think he or she is going to have to be someone that we already know it can't be someone new that we don't know to much because then you (well at least I don't) care to much about. In Dragon Age Origins there is one and when it happened my reaction was really I should have killed this person when I had the chance. ( I don't think I did but I hope I didn't give anything away for those who didn't play it, If I did I"m sorry)

2) The person has to betray you to the reapers or whoever is working for them.  For example the Geth in ME1 or the Collectors in ME2.

That is why I say Legion because I don't see an Organic turing the best hope of stopping the Collectors and saving all organic life in the universe over to the things that are trying to destroy it all. I'm speaking of there own free will and not being controlled.

I don't think anyone attached to a specific character is going to be cool with this, unless there's a way to get the character back without killing them.

i never said people would be cool with then it would have the most impact. Which I think would be the point if there is a traitor. I like Legion but that is my opinion

I doubt it will be miranda cause if you destory the collector base she pretty much gives the middle finger to TIM.

I'm all for having peoples motives and goals be hidden and then revealed.

The problem is still the lack of proper story, storytelling and plot development in ME2, to constitute such things as a traitor, a hidden agenda or a mysterious reveal. So while having elements of characters be revealed is all fine and dandy, if they can't even get basic characterization on the main character, putting "a traitor in our midst" by a flat and static Shepard character, in a plot that is handled so poorly, wouldn't really be all that dramatic or effective.
