We know it's highly probable that Liara will have a major role in ME3. Most people have assumed she'll be recruitable, but what if she's a villain? That "have you ever faced an asari commando unit before?" was a deliberate callback. She comes off as slightly unhinged when talking about the Shadow Broker and seems to care more about vengence than Shepard or the Reapers. I can see her as a tragic hero/antivillain who opposes Shepard because he somehow interferes with her work.

Liara getting a comic and possible DLC portends a big role in ME3, but it may not necessarily be a heroic one.

It seems really unlikely that Bioware would single out one LI to make into a villain. There may be persuade check in her Shadow Broker mission that would enable Shepard to sway Liara away from revenge (ie the Paragon option). It's pretty unlikely that Liara, who basically went through hell for Shepard, would turn on him/her in ME3.

Liara as a villain? I think that is an interesting thought, but I don't know how likely it will be. Makes me think of Aribeth in NWN.

I wouldn't use the fact that she's an LI as an argument that it won't happen. In fact, it might make the romance more interesting (though I doubt her fans would agree with me).

As long as you can redeem her and get a proper happy ending. If they deny us that, I don't buy the game.

I personally can't see Liara turning against Shepard. If anything she will want to get SHepard on her side. I think the way Liara was acting in ME2 was necessary because she was unsure if she was under survallence. I'm sure when she finds the shadow broker, she'll send Shepard an e-mail requesting his/her assistance.
