Why so much Wynne hate?

I also hate her because I AM THE ONE THAT PRACTICALLY SOLO'd the Mages Tower and then she turns to Irving and takes credit for my success only saying she "had help" **BERSERKER RAGE**** She didn' do crap! Me and Zev and ALi did it all and I really missed having Leil with me because of that old hypocrite. I so wished I had an option to pimp slap that woman when she took credit for what I did.
The way she treats both my mage who fears returning to the circle and my City Elf ugh.... I cannot stand that old lady and I would love to kill her but only some of my characters would violate the ashes of Andraste.

It IS a common enough flaw in real life... and IRL I try to avoid people who have that flaw... so why should I welcome a character in a fantasy game I play to escape real life who has this flaw?

I've encountered a few over-bearing people myself, but they're put back in their place with far more decorum than what the player is allowed with Wynne. Hence, my conclusion that a six-year old must have written the PC responses.

Yeah, you screwup, if you'd tried harder your cousin wouldn't have been dragged away and gang raped! Just admit your failures!ejoslin wrote...

Never took her to the gauntlet on a city elf female I see . . .

People can like or dislike Wynne as they please. Just be glad that her 'hate' posts tend to have actual thought and restraint placed in them, unlike what's afforded to some other companions.

I don't mind if she at least had something wise to offer. She doesn't.
In fact, other than her healing, what does she offer?
She isn't beautiful. The only reason she has a tolerable bossom is because all women share the same body model.
She isn't a badass. Even if she wears Vader's helmet, she wouldn't manage to be even close.
She isn't intelligent. The dog is smarter than her.
She isn't funny. Sten, the most stoic guy in the whole game, manages to be funnier.
She isn't wise. Morrigan owns her everytime of the week.
She isn't smart witted. She gets owned in all convos, except with Alistair, which isn't saying much.
I guess only the people who like seeing Alistair acting like a teenager would appreciate Wynne a bit. Personally that makes me facepalm even more.
Her whole personality is just very useless. It doesn't make you think at all. Morrigan, Leliana, Sten, Zevran, Shale and even Oghren had something of value to offer and represent issues that make you think.
The only thing Wynne offers or re-asserts is the very old truth, that has been discovered since the birth of mankind.
Old people are annoying.

Am I wrong for laughing? It really does illustrate how all she does is, as the guardian says, spout platitudes, without thinking about the appropriateness of her advice.
Edit: I regret writing this post for the sole reason it comes after an absolutely fabulous one and it's worthless in comparison!

IMO, the guardian pegged her exactly. She doesn't offer true wisdom. She's simply the Circle mouthpiece.

I wonder if she even knows your backstory. My elf would not confide in her. She's probably just seizing the opportunity to stroke her ego by offering unsolicited advice on a situation that she's completely ignorant of.
My CE told her straight up she wished she could kill Vaughn and all the guards over again. Wynne's reaction was that she couldn't fault the CE for feeling that way because Vaughn had indeed done cruel things.
Interesting how she can say she won't hold it against you but then turn around and yell at the CE for not expressing regret with the Guardian...

Orzammar for example. My PC helps Nadezda. Morrigan remains silent. No disapproval
She helps Zerlinda. Morrigan - not a peep from her.
Honnleth: My PC saves the girl, Morrigan disapproves only if the PC lies to the demon. I can understand that. Why lie? It's a waste of time. She still makes no peep if Amalia is saved. Morrigan is far more tolerable than Wynne imo.

I like her lecturing, but as an NPC in combat I hate how much mana she guzzles down every battle. I really don't mind Wynne's character she is nice. I would say I hate Zevran the most since on my first playthrough as a Dalish Elf I just slit his throat. Even once you get to know him, he is still a freaking pig and deserves to be slaughtered. I think after every dialogue I had with him my approval went down because how much I disagree with him. Anyways, I went off on a tangent lol.
I can't see any understanding of either character anywhere in your post.

Exact same thing here. See, I think Wynne giving the exact same advice to everyone no matter what is a very deliberate thing -- it shows that she does NOT give appropriate advice. Sometimes it's spot on, sometimes it's horribly inappropriate, but it's always the same. No real thought behind it.

Leliana- Though her desire for redemption is sincere from what we know, Leliana was practically a villain before she fled to Fereldan, and yet people hand wave that.
Zevran- Zevran, despite the fact that his attack on the Warden was a suicide attempt, is what I'd call a despicable person in real life...(he's a pig and a perv, no I'm not referring to him being bisexual)
And yet people have so much hate for Wynne, who's biggest "crime" is being overly patronizing to a fault.

Because some of us actually get to know the characters. All of them. Including Wynne. Again, play a city elf female, and take Wynne to the gauntlet. And see if your opinion of her and her advice stays the same.

Seriously, I don't even see the kind of 'hate' here that happens quite frequently against other characters. People dislike Wynne, some very much so, but no one treats her like crap or belittles her the way some do with other characters. Calling her out on her faults is not the same as hate speech. And it's certainly not the same as the blatant homophobic hate speech often targeted at Zevran.

Morality has little to do with a character being interesting. I don't think Wynne is evil. I think she is boring, uninteresting and dull, thus why she is my least favorite companion (on the rare occasion where I actually pick her up). She offers nothing interesting, thus I see no reason why I should like the character. I would say as a person, she is tolerable, but she isn't. She is pretentious, hypocritical and useless.
