no. I want BioWare to focus on the story and improving gameplay. Not coming up with a completely new game mechanic.

Gawd that was hideous and boring. Ever played Homeworld 2? Absolutely epic space battles, and you can zoom in and watch the turrets turning and firing, effectively get into the cockpit of a tiny fighter doing an attack run on a cruiser that's 1000 times its size as they the cruisers fire huge particle beams at each other.
Another excellent space combat sim would be Freespace 2, but that game was more purely from the experience of a bomber/fighter pilot, and the positively HUGE dreadnoughts firing particle cannons at each other, ripping each other to shreds while you dodge the beams. Get caught in one, and it's insta-toast for you.

It can really adds to the in game immersion. Let's take the final part of ME2, when your crew is missing and you're under attack. That kind of moment, being able to take control of the turret do destroy the ships that are attacking you, I would have loved it.
Obviously, it shouldn't make ME turned into a shooting game, but I'm definitely fond of the games that gives you more and more each time.
I love what ME2 is, but there is definitely a few things that can be added to the game in order to add to the immersion, and being able to use the turrets (whenever you want, you would be able to use the turrent and see the galactic void ...) and to make this useful only a few times is part of it. And to avoid any problem with the players who do not want this, giving the possibility to ask to a teammate to take care of it would be a plus.
And to be honest, I don't really agree with the people who say that a game must stay very specific (RPG, Action, FPS ...) just because ME is the perfect opposite example. It's not a RPG, it's not an action game, it's both. If well done, I'm quite sure an exploration system + a space shooting game can't make ME worse, just better. My call...

I agree with cronshaw8. ME3 should be about good story development/conclusion and good 3rd person shooter mechanics.
Bioware has already said they're planning other games that will use the Mass Effect universe as a backdrop. Let them make a real spaceship battle game with strong graphics and a kickass pilot interface. You could even be Joker and fly the Normandy into battle.Perhaps they'll also come up with a RTS similar to Halo Wars or something. ME3 is not Wing Commander or Eve-Online...

Give Joker some more voice acting, and let him show everyone how awesome he is at flying to the new crew. In ME1, the only thing that even remotely showed how "good" Joker was at flying, was that he dropped a maco with 20 feet of room.
Everyone loves Joker. (Not Seth Green, just Joker.)

"Engage!"
"Make it so."
"Divert auxiliary life support to shields!"
Ah, if only...

Exactly. And did that kill Kotor? NO. Jade Empire also had something similiar. Its much more fun playing a minigame than watching a cutscene.

No thanks I'd rather not have playable space combat in ME3. I'd rather just see cinematic space combat like they have done for the series so far. I just don't think it would fit the story very well to have it player controlled.

Post if you want or not with your reasons.
Yeah but it has to be pretty good. If not, then it's better to just have cutscenes of battles. Though I do think at the very least more cutscenes of space battles should occur. As someone said, history is rarely decided by a 3 member squad team.
