Anyway to pass the time I went to retro gaming. I got a shell program and reinstalled the 1994 game of the year UFO: Enemy Unknown. I actually almost forgot about fallout, that was until the xbox came back and I forgot about my retro gaming! lol

I got an E74 about a year ago. i just stashed it and bought a ps3. ill most likely replace the x box at some point. I never bothered looking into getting it serviced. Easier just to buy a new one. though there are plenty more practical things i should be spending money on....
Why havent you got it serviced?
The E74 issue is accepted as a hardware fault so Microsoft fix it for free. They even cover shipping costs and give you a free 1 month gold subscription card for any time you lost on X-Box live.
Its not easier to buy a new one as it costs you a new console!! This they actually compensate you for lost time and it costs you nothing, it is 100% free!! No costs involved at all.
I got mine serviced May last year and havent had an issue since

Nope. Never had the RRoD or E74, and I've had my 360 for 3 years :-P
Well there is always an exception to the rule.

I didn't really play it often and im just lazy. I originally got it to play on live with a friend, who i only actually played with once. I couldnt see the point of looking into repairing something i barely used. yeah, i made some friends on live, and i miss playing with them. but over all it wasnt something i just HAD to get fixed/replaced. So i got a ps3 instead. Most of my family has one, so theres always someone to play with. I've only considered replacing it because it seemed easier joining and inviting for games. other than that, thats the only thing ive missed about x box 360.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one out there with this issue. I'm going to call microsoft today, im pretty sure it's a videocare error. The dashboard and the intro screens worked fine, just as they should. But when playing ME2 and BF1943, the graphics failed to render and I got purple fuzzies and black texture moddles. So I restarted and got the error message. I live on the West Coast so hopefully it will be under a week ordeal.

Its a card with a code. It gives you instructions on how to redeem it on the back of the card.
The whole process is very easy (Returning the console). You can report the error online and they'll send you some stickers with the address on them (Or you can print them out yourself and save yourself the week). Slap the stickers on a box, put the 360 in the box (and pad it) and drop it off at the nearest FedEx or UPS place (I forget which). A week later, you get it back. Two at most.
