BioWare and Sony have now published a patch for the PS3. Please check
your Playstation Home network or Dragon Age: Origins launcher for
details.

Patch notes:
-         Various changes have been made to code and resources to support the Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening expansion pack.

-
At higher levels, non-player characters now receive a bonus to armor
penetration. This mitigates an unintentional imbalance with
well-armored high-level characters, since armor penetration previously
did not scale as aggressively as armor itself did.

-
Elite-rank enemies (lieutenants) can no longer be shattered. This
preserves the intended tactical design of many combat encounters.

-         Portraits for summoned creatures were displaying improperly while in the party camp. This no longer occurs.

-
All book-based specializations will now automatically unlock once the
Warden reaches level 14. Books will still be available from vendors so
you can unlock these specializations before level 14.

-         Modified game-side achievement system to allow adding new ones.

-         Fixed a streaming problem that made props disappear. This no longer occurs.

Horrible patch, horrible bioware. Wheres the problems that got fixed for PC and the problems people report in the forums, such as the framerate issue that is huge. U are not going to sell no expansion or DLC's this way, and i for certain wont buy any games from u ever, especially for PS3

And what about framerate? and what about unlocking saved games? and what about the lack of technical support for PS3?

Portraits fixed... JA!

"Support for the Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening expansion pack". Missing note: "In the case you still want it"

So we didn't get the Dex fix? That's the big thing I want fixed. Will it be fixed before RTO? Before Awakenings? What about the fact that bodies aren't lootable for until 10 minutes after they are killed? I canceled my DAO: Awakenings preorder today. I hated doing it, this WAS my favorite game I've gotten in a LONG time.

Well...ladedadada! And this is mean't to keep the paying customers happy? $135 bucks for your collectors edition (coz I like to put faith in those great Bioware products I have been happy with for many years on PC)

Crap fix...it aint a fix.....its an ADVERT FOR YOUR NEW EXPANSION...Awakenings I think its called....yeah I think I have seen it advertised on EVERY SITE ON THE PLANET!

Get real guys... pay some attention to those who have spend their cash on the PS3 version and are being stiffed royally! Between you DLC issues and so called NTSC and PAL versions over different regions I would think that your managment and marketing staff would have a clue where it comes to maximising your income rewards. Why release a product that is so complex regarding DLC and regions and then ignore the basic problems like framerate and other basic software issues?

My guess is that DAO and all other games that Bioware will make in the future will not be seen on the PS3. Bioware...stick to the PC...at least you are fantastic at that! (Old NWN fan from wayyyy back....still cheering about that game :))

very bad, no wardens keep fix. you can re-balance the game when you have fixed it to a fully working game.

btw: its totally crap that the specializations completely unlock at level 14. so why spend good money a few levels before on that books.

Didn't everyone just save, buy a book, and re-load like I did?

No one has gotten a dex fix yet, look on the Xbox and PC forums they are still griping about it, to my knowledge and all the stuff that was fixed on the pc patch was fixed before hand on the PS3.

still haven't seen the so called frame rate issue in almost 5 months of playing. Looking forward to awakenings and RTO.

Very disappointed in the lack of substance in the patch.
For a 1.01 patch on a game that isn't without glitches, the items addressed are *extremely* underwhelming.
I have been playing Bioware games for as long as Bioware has existed. I consider myself a fan, but even the most loyal fans would have to consider the poor showing of post-release support as both surprising and disappointing.
It's a shame. Bioware pre-EA seems far superior than Bioware post-EA.
All in all, it just all seems so... un-Canadian.

The armor penetration thing is interesting. Should up the difficulty in the end game.

I'm pretty sure this patch wasn't really about fixing bugs. This patch is probably about prepping the game for compatibility with RTO.

M'kay. Thanks for the "patch" BioWare. Over a month delayed, and what exactly did you fix? I know I was just FURIOUS about the summoned creature potraits in camp!!! And I know I wasn't alone, just look at all the people here complaining about how much it bothered them too!

Is this our future? The "next generation" in console gaming? Broken, buggy, slip-shod productions that are super hyped and pre ordered into a "collectors edition" frenzy, rushed out the developers door unfinished, lacking support because the devs are under the whip from the publishers to leave end users dangling in the wind with buggy product, whilst persistently jamming piecemeil, unfinished, buggy delayed DLC & expansion packs down the collective gullet of gaming?

I cannot believe the lack of polish everywhere around the edges of this game (ps3 version). I love this game, but its like we are beta testing this **** and no body is paying attention to the reports. DA Servers still not uploading character data, dex bug, lagging loot drops, framerate, audio drops and scripting errors, I should just shut up already. Its foolish to think you canuckleheads care about the buck you already made, errr sorry, I mean the Loonie you already made, when its clear its just about where the next one will be coming from.

vonFurious could not be more correct. I remember when I purchased this game, the first day, the first opening cutscene was jittery as ****. I was like....wtf....Menu's were slow, everything was glitchy, audio STILL skips out after the patch. My game's menu's load a lil faster now, but the game STILL stutters all the time, even when I'm just walking around. WTF. The game itself is fun, but at this point that doesn't make it enjoyable to play. How could you release this product in this state for the ps3? HOW COULD YOU RELEASE A PATCH, THAT FIXES NO ONES ISSUES! Did you not read the forums? They were clear as day. Frame rate/stuttering/dex bugs. Jesus. Jesus Christ.

What I don't get is how do you fix trophies but not fix trophies? If you hit the glitch where the EA account has a trophy but PSN does not, you still can't earn them.

Also, no fix for the critical error that occurs when some people hit Niall in the Fade and their game freezes/crashes/etc.?

Why in the world would you unlock the specialisations?

And I'm very glad we can still shatter Lieutenants on the PC, because that's a really great feature. It's a high-reward, low-success gambit. The game needs more of those, not fewer.

Useless patch. Congratulations BioWare. Dragon Age could be one of the best PS3 games, but he will never be because you are not giving a **** about it...

Is the ps3 ever going to get a fix for the Run-Away Jowan, Shaperate's Blessing and other certain bugs/glitches that didn't get a fix from this?

Haven't played this game for ages coz of this kind of ****e. I was hoping alot would be ironed out in the first patch that would inspire me to play again lmao oh how I was wrong, overall I made a bad choice with this game. I wish I could delete trophies so I could forget about it in the cupboard.

What about the DEX bug for daggers?! This was known from week one and should be just a matter of modifiing a simple entry in the code?

This patch just made the game worse! You clear a room of full of enemies, your weapons don't get put away so you can't heal or pick up weapons and the characters no longer follow you. This patch needs to be removed. I can't play.

Yep, Thanks Bioware! Seriously over a month delay for this? Here you had a chance to redeem the launch failure with all the bugs but instead you just give us a patch to ready it for awakenings and or RTO. Heh once again you Fail PS3 owners. Grats, this will be my first PS3 game to turn in to gamestop for store credit. I'm done with it. Such a "could be" great game, what a shame. Maybe later down the line I'll get it on PC now that I have one that can run it. but right now I just don't know... Your outright favoritism and treating PS3 owners like the bad stepchild (even though we paid the same amount of money) has really sickened me.

Either fix the damn framerate, or just tell us "STFU already". Where are your priorities Bioware?

Oh yeah, I forgot. "Providing years of content" for Dragon Age. Sounds good in theory, but the technical quality of the content you've ALREADY put in your customers hands..... Not So Much.

seriously.

i just installed the patch, booted the title and resumed my game (3rd playthrough - right at the beginning of ostagar right now) and somehow the frame rate is WORSE than before.  i mean, it had been a few weeks, so maybe my eyes had simply gotten adjusted to the jitteriness (since i did 2 full playthroughs back-to-back), but this is ridiculous.

i imagine it would be really painful for people with astigmatism trying to play this game.

it is beyond me why they have not fixed issues that people have been complaining about for months.
