Just for giggles, I hooked my ps3 up to an older 480i/ Standard Def. TV. In December, I wrote that this made a difference, but on second take, nope. It still jerks/ lags, just a tad more smoothly. Boo.

Ziggurcat, do you think its memory leakage via save games, or just problems with the various set-ups?

I'm using an 80gig NTSC (N. American) phat Ps3 from 06/09. 17 gigs free. 6 saved characters, approx 30 saves. Playing in 720p, latest system/ software update installed using a Sony branded component cable on a Samsung CRT HD TV. I experience various degrees of framerate stutter, from none to severe, with less incidents of lag when playing off-line.

I suffer similar issues vonfurious. I have crazy micro stuttering, a battle is a lagfest, not due to frame rate, but it's so ****ing jittery.

not sure what's causing the problem.  my money is on it being a problem with the code, though.  i've mentioned before that i noticed the jittering on the very first cutscene on the very first time i even played the game  (so there was no previous save game data to cause a memory leak).

they've been very fond of making it seem like it's the end user's fault for the frame rate problem, but i am fairly certain it has nothing to do with our set-ups.

they really need to grow a pair, admit they screwed up and just fix the problems that are making the game a little less enjoyable.

I want to buy awakening, but I won't until they at least say they are working on a fix for this horrific framerate and other problems. I've enjoyed the DLC I have, but I'd rather do without it if companies are only going to be concerned with technical difficulties relating to purchasing DLC. This is such a great game, and it deserves better, as do your customers, Bioware.

I had problems the first cutscene as well, i might trade this in after my first playthrough. Also why can't Bioware hide respond to these topics? They seem to hide behind their failures.

I'm going to have to pay real close attention the second time around. I just finished my first time through and I didn't see any serious frame rate issues at all. In a few areas I did notice the corpse-looting issue, which is annoying as hell, but that's about it. I'm playing at 780p, but I have the audio setup to output through the L/R composite jacks, which forces the audio down to 2.1 through the hdmi cable. Maybe that's where the issue is? Why don't you all give that a try and see if it fixes some of the frame rate issues you're having. Just a thought.

I would never have known about the DEX bug if no one ever told me. I was really just more interested in the story to really care. *shrug*

It's very symptomatic that Bioware gives us a patch promoting their next money gobbler but doing nothing, of substance, about actual bugs. Way to go...you'll not get a ****ing euro more from me until you patch the game.

What they need to go is get the EU a disc for Awakenings and unlock our damn game saves – preferably before YLOD strikes!

That's pretty much been my experience. I'm currently running DA:O at 1280x720 @60hz. , and my sound is going straight thru HDMI. No problems other than what you stated.

that sounds like a PC setup, so that's probably why you haven't seen any of the frame rate issues.

Yeah I just complimented you guys on a good job with the new spells and attacks in Awakening but you guys SUCK BALLS in regards to this. Seriously, do you not care about some of your customers because they're not the majority base? FIX THE DAMN FREAKIN BUGS you and your gay patch, you keep telling us its gonna get fixed and no FIX, so I spent 60 dollars not being able to play the Rogue I wanna play and you guys don't even have the courtesy to make a post with SINCERE APOLOGIES. GAYYYYYY.

Show some respect, Malfurus, and you might get some in return. Show none, and you will be treated accordingly (hence the silence from Bioware on most of the threads in the PS3 forum).

And we all would still be living in mid-evil times if no one stood up for themselves, and took this approach. If this is your idea of customer service I do hope you do not own a company.

Funny that you are saying respect. How about respect to the customer, all we have asked for is a fixed product that we have paid money for. The game does not work as intended, proven by the PC patch. You buy a car and one wheel falls off, oh well you still have 3 good ones right?...

Ill show respect when respect is given, and since there has been no major apology in regards to this issue then no respect will be shown. The game came out months ago and the fact that they haven't fixed our problems yet when they said for the longest time that it was going to be fixed, then yes I am going to be furious. I spent 60 dollars, not including tax for this game, and many people have, and we still can't play the class we want to play because of the inadequacy Bioware has shown towards PS3 gamers. What excuse can they have? I'm sure that with all the people that are working on the game they could have fixed the problem by now, but no, they decide to focus the majority of their attention on the PC Gamers because, like I said, its the majority and the one thats going to keep the majority of the gamers satisfied with their buck. Don't ****ing send a game out if its not ready yet or if you don't plan on patching it up within weeks of its date, cause thats DISRESPECTFUL to our time and money.

Not only that they have the audicity to send out a gay as patch so they can look as if they're making progress. Seriously, if they want me satisfied then how about you give me my money back?

SAD.  I expect more from Bioware.  Get on the ball with PS3 or chunk the version altogether and save us the headaches and waits.

Either fix the damn framerate, or just tell us "STFU already". Where are your priorities Bioware?

Oh yeah, I forgot. "Providing years of content" for Dragon Age. Sounds good in theory, but the technical quality of the content you've ALREADY put in your customers hands..... Not So Much.

Yeah "Providing years of content" for XBOX users not PS3 users. Final Fantasy XIII will be my next PS3 buy and not Awakening.

Hmm so PS3 got patch notes for PC patch 1.03? but PS3 patch 1.01?

Here are the other PC patch notes

Dragon Age: Origins 1.02a

Patch details:

Many of the fixes affecting balance, gameplay, or plot scripting are already included in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 versions of Dragon Age: Origins.

Balance

* Daggers now apply 0.5 points of damage per additional point in dexterity and 0.5 points of damage per additional point in strength, as originally intended. This increases dagger damage for high-dexterity characters.

* During combat, mana or stamina reserves now correctly regenerate more quickly when reserves are low. This allows players to occasionally use an talent or spell in the later stages of lengthy fights.

* When exploring, mana and stamina now regenerate more quickly at higher character levels. This reduces downtime between fights.

* The spells Force Field, Crushing Prison, Cone of Cold, and Blizzard now have shorter durations and/or longer cooldowns. This ensures that combatants can no longer stun-lock each other by repeatedly casting the same spell.

* The cooldowns for several low-level sustained abilities are now shorter. This ensures that players are not penalized for accidentally deactivating them.

* Certain battles were not scaling properly, resulting in excessively difficult fights. They now scale as intended.

* Enemy corpses now drop health poultices and money more appropriately, resulting in less clutter in the player's inventory.

Gameplay

* In rare cases, enemy corpses were selectable when they contained no loot. This no longer occurs.

* Party members whose combat tactics were set to defensive behavior no longer stop attacking after using a spell or talent.

* In rare cases, combat tactics conditions could fail to determine whether a character had enough mana or stamina to use an ability. This no longer occurs.

* The Rally talent no longer repeats its audio effect if it is active during certain conversations.

* The Rally talent no longer deactivates upon area transitions or conversations.

* The Shimmering Shield spell now deactivates when the character is out of mana.

Plot *Spoiler Warning*

* Promotional downloadable content items now remain in the player's inventory when standard items are removed at the end of the dwarf noble origin.

* Repeatedly talking to Duncan after gathering the vials in the Korcari Wilds but not the treaties no longer provides duplicate experience.

* Leliana's personal plot can now be completed if the player substantially increased her approval (through gifts) before talking to her.

* During the siege of Redcliffe, enemies are no longer able to spawn in locations that would break the plot.

* Bann Teagan no longer disappears when he is supposed to be accessible during Urn of Sacred Ashes.

PC Specific

* Controlling a summoned creature (like a ranger's pets) during certain special area transitions no longer results in odd behavior.

* Creating a character in a custom module did not create a folder for saves. This could result in corruption of main campaign saves. This no longer occurs.

* In some cases, the class icon was set incorrectly for characters imported from the downloadable Character Creator. This no longer occurs.

* The options menu now includes a setting to automatically download previously purchased content that is not currently installed.

* After installing new downloadable content, the game now always reminds the user to restart the game.

* The icons for some promotional downloadable content items were missing. They now appear correctly.

* The screenshot upload GUI would stop working from time to time on the client. There was a memory override that was fixed. It is a client fix. It doesn't affect the other problems we have seen on the server.

Dragon Age: Origins 1.01b

Patch details:

* fixed potential corruption of character statistics

* fixed portrait appearance sliders when importing a character from the downloadable Character Creator

* fixed import for preset face settings from the downloadable Character Creator

* made Easy difficulty easier

* slightly increased attack, defense, and damage scores for all party members at Normal difficulty

* fixed video issues when running on a very wide screen display, including ATI Eyefinity displays

* fixed an issue with Dragon Age and Windows Game Explorer

* updated Visual C runtime libraries

It said many of the fixes, not all. I had the selectable enemy with no loot bug two days ago. Maybe that was introduced again with the new patch, haha. The bows seem so weak. When I was playing in Korcari wilds, characters with bows were doing around 14 dmg, while allistair was doing over twenty with his longsword. Are they underpowered, or still bugged?

many fixes? seems like they didn't bother to fix any of the major issues people have been bringing up for months.  77mb for a patch sounds exactly like it was just a prep for the upcoming DLC and nothing more - a patch that somehow made the frame rate problem worse (at least for me).

After the patch my load times have INCREASED dramatically. The intro/ title screen now loads for at least 3-4 minutes while loading my saved games, before checking downloadable content, before telling me my online character storage is not available, before loading a game that immediately is plagued with a jerky/ stuttery camera and can't handle more than two enemies on the screen with out .5 to a 1.5 sec. framerate stutter/ freeze in combat.

Four Months. Not a word. Not one single word addressing the issue since we were told by Jason Leong that Bioware was "looking" into the problem.
