unacceptable. I was wondering why my duel wielding dagger rogue was so weak by comparison to my warrior and mage, and here I am. And all the sordid details! I was aware of this DAO's other shortcomings, but the total lack of progress on this dex bug for PS3 is just wrong. no biggie though. I bought the game and wardens peak dlc. You got me there. But I will not be buying Awakening and will be trading-in my retail copy. I usually never do this, but this game deserves a trip to the secondary market. You've earned it!

After the patch my load times have INCREASED dramatically. The intro/ title screen now loads for at least 3-4 minutes while loading my saved games, before checking downloadable content, before telling me my online character storage is not available, before loading a game that immediately is plagued with a jerky/ stuttery camera and can't handle more than two enemies on the screen with out .5 to a 1.5 sec. framerate stutter/ freeze in combat.

Four Months. Not a word. Not one single word addressing the issue since we were told by Jason Leong that Bioware was "looking" into the problem.

that's just exactly what Bioware is doing - just "LOOKING" and not doing anything about it.

Even if Bioware was preparing a fix to this horrendous issue. WHY HAVE YOU NOT UPDATED US BIOWARE! Seriously WHAT THE ****! I payed 60 bucks on release for this piece of ****. This piece of ****. I have ventured halfway through this game, and have decided to play no more, instead I might just ebay at this point. It is unplayable by so many ways, I think I will compare it to Superman 64's **** gameplay/technical issues to just your technical issues in general. Ever do the robot dance Bioware? Well guess what, your game represents it.

I doubt the frame rate issue will ever be resolved. It would mean recoding the whole game to run certain tasks through individual SPE's on the processor. As with most ports/multi-platform titles, the code comes from pc/xbox so isn't optimised to make use of the CEL processor and the way it's designed to multi-task through the SPU's.

Exclusive titles like Uncharted look so sexy and have great frame rates because they are optimised to run tasks like physics, shading and lighting etc to 1 of the 6 available spu's on the processor.

From what I can gather, this needs to start from day one in the dev process, it's a whole architecture re-design....that's why alot of "ports" like Dragon Age aren't optimised for PS3, so you have to live with shoddy frame rates sometimes.

Maybe in the future this issue will disappear when 3rd party devs understand PS3 like the 1st party devs do.

it can be fixed with a patch, i think it comes down to laziness.

and the thing is that this console has been out for 4 years now (and let's not even count the amount of time prior to the release of the console that the devs had to learn the architecture).  lazy devs are certainly lazy... and these are probably the laziest i have ever encountered.

I've the same issue with the initial loading saved data.

I knew the Ps3 version was bad but I didn't know it was this bad. I mean it takes about a 2 second break just to pull out my weapons for combat! I played the 360 version and sure it doesnt look as good as the ps3 version but I would sacrifice graphics for framerate smoothness ANYDAY.

I don't even think that it's laziness. I think it's just that they plum don't care. Common Return to Ostogar came out how long ago? Ps3 version is horribly ridden with framerate issues and i doubt they will even fix it for the expansion....and Bioware will probably not make another ps3 game ever since we complain so much :D

Hah! You think they are even listening to all the complaining?

What forum have you been on?

I totally agree with you, however, this is the game we get. This is how we get it, and this is how we are supposed to like it. Now finish your dinner, or no dessert for you!

But before this "new" patch was released the  game ran alot smoother , saves could be backed up as well.

Please fix bioware.

U would be surprised how much Demon's Souls really stands out comparing to Dragon Age. Solution: Sell this bad-programmed game and get the other RPG :)

The PS3 is far and away a superior processing system than the 360 and there's NO reason whatsoever for DA:O to dip in frame rate in any part of the game at any time. I've NEVER had a game freeze up because of framerate dips like DA:O has and I've played a lot of games on my PS3. I feel like I'm playing it on an outdated PC on the highest settings sometimes, it's just awful.

Also...when are you going to fix the Jowan bug? That thing hasn't been working since the game was released nearly half a year ago and there still isn't a fix for it? Come on, man.

Check out this tech review from the DigitalFoundry Blog at Eurogamer. It convinced me that I wasn't crazy: http://www.eurogamer...ce-off-round-23

The game drops from 30 frames per second to 15 fps with astounding frequency. It is remarkable to read that so many "don't notice" or like the folks at BioWare "don't care". When I purchased my Ps3 last summer I had no idea that games that ran this choppy would be making their way to my fancy new console.

I tried to contact Edge of Reality Games, the company responsible for the console ports, and imagine my surprise when I never heard back from them. The responsibility for the final product is BioWare's, and EA's.... ohh, I guess that explains it right there. "Too many cooks ruin the stew" seems apt.

It is abundantly clear that quality is not the focus for this franchise. I never thought we'd be in the middle of a pissing contest between BioWare/ EA & used game sales, but it takes no leap of the imagination to figure that is what is going on here. Awakenings is rushed to market 5 months after Origins release, two "meh" DLC's are pumped out in the interim (one of which is made available a few days before the expansion's release to maximize its financial returns, rather than make it available upon certification, which it received nearly three weeks ago) and nothing is done to fix the original game that runs on par with an epileptic fit.

I used to hope BioWare would release the Mass Effect series on Ps3. If this is level of quality we can expect from their ports, I would kindly retract that request.

Stay classy BioWare.

Very good find! Thanks for posting. I was as well hoping I wasnt crazy about the frame rates.LOL  It's so sad though...and there is nothing funny about it.

Hmm...I wonder if this is what's causing my cutscene crashes? Has anyone else had bad problems with crashies during interactive cutscenes?

about the only credit i can give this game is that it has not once crashed on me (yet... i have done two complete playthroughs and i'm on my third), which is rare for a game of this size.

you can try deleting and reinstalling the game data (note: this is different from save data, so you will not lose any progress).  that may help.

Thank you for the tip, can you please tell me how I can do that??  I think that MAY help...if it has to re-render the messed-up sequence it may help.

in the XMB, go to game > game data utility > highlight dragon age > press triangle > delete

now you may have to re-download and install any DLC, but i'm not entirely sure whether that is associated with your save data and not the game data.

Thanks so much!  Not concerned about my DLC, my main toon is run to the end of the story anyway.  Thanks so much!  Will try and get back to the boards in a bit.  You rock.

I'm going to have to pay real close attention the second time around. I just finished my first time through and I didn't see any serious frame rate issues at all. In a few areas I did notice the corpse-looting issue, which is annoying as hell, but that's about it. I'm playing at 780p, but I have the audio setup to output through the L/R composite jacks, which forces the audio down to 2.1 through the hdmi cable. Maybe that's where the issue is? Why don't you all give that a try and see if it fixes some of the frame rate issues you're having. Just a thought.

I would never have known about the DEX bug if no one ever told me. I was really just more interested in the story to really care. *shrug*

Nah, i dont think you know about th real **** here. I did finish this game 8 times and the framerate really the main issue! I'm using HD1080 LCD and Optial cable for my DTS 5.1. If these connection were the main causes to make this game so ****, whats is the reason for me to play my ps3?? Since pc and  Xbox360 version are better, whats is the point for me to buy a ps3 copy?? Everyone found the same problem, do you think we are all idiot and keep complaining at here? com'n!

Dear BioWare.

I love DAO and i had finish 8 times.
You knew the bug issues but never fix it.
I am a jackass and spend all my bucks for your DLC.
You keep ignore ps3 user and concern on pc.
I will take my DAO to the store and trade it for God of War 3
You wont do any fix as i know.
I'm and dissapointed with you and say bye bye to you.

Kind regard.
Your lovely support which is betrayed by you.
