Is it possible to get both to join you?
Or is it always just one or the other?

I've been loading, and trying various options, but it seems I always get stuck with just one side joining me.
If the Circle survives, they help, but the Templar say that they can't.
If I side with the Templar, then there is no Circle, but the Templar agree to help.

not that i know of, either you kill the circle and the templers help you or save the circle and the mage's help you while the templars say they can't spare anyone.

I saved the circle and both the Templars and the Mages are helping me

*according to the mage in my party camp, both Temps/Mages are assisting me

Save the Circle. The Templars will join you as well.

? I never got that. I only had Irving at the archdemon fight, and no templars to deploy in Denerim.

Siding with the mages gets the Templars with you "in spirit".

In so far as they're watching the mages, like they always do. Never let the dogs stray too far from the leash, eh?

All kinds of famous people appear during the archdemon fight, I wonder how they made it there, some of them are very old men...

My biggest disappointment was the single Legion of the Dead member that showed up during the Archdemon fight. I thought it really cool that I got the pledge of the Legion to come to the surface to help, then during the fight this lone guy was the Legion... /cry/

The battle against the Archdemon may end in total victory! No point in that.

Angry...it's not that they "want" to die, they already have in their eyes. It's just a matter of when and where for them.
