I can only do one more play through so which class do you think I should play on insanity mode? I'm leaning towards the Engineer cause I just played through the first mission Freedom's Progress and controlled that YMIR without ever getting hit once. Unbelievable. But I've been also liking the Infiltrator vids cause I see people playing it with an offensive full court press style. Your suggestions and comments are much appreciated... Here's what I've played so far if you are interested ...
Vanguard - Veteran L24
**********************
Squad Incendiary 10
Cryo -
Heavy Charge 10
Improved ShockWave 10
Pull 1
Champion 10
Barrier 3
Ugh. I had the worst time playing a Vanguard on my first playthrough. It wasn't fun at all. I played with heavy pistols until the collector ship where I picked up AR. I stayed away from shotguns the entire game because I kept dying when charging in to use them. That is why I tried to go with Barrier to help me out after charging but it didnt work well at all. I hardly ever used charge even though I had 10pts in it. Shockwave was practically worthless. I played this class defensivley which is to say I hardly played it at all. I mostly played using my squadmates whom I felt had way better powers. I've watched some vids where people actually bring out the Vanguard in this class. But I'm not too keen on seeing a red border screen on every fight. This class is just not my style.
If I absolutely had to do this class over I'd do the following:
Inferno Ammo 10
Squad Cryo 10
Charge 2
Shockwave 2
Pull 6
Destroyer 10
Heavy Reave 10
Adept - Hardcore - L25
**********************
Heavy Warp 10
Throw 1
Wide Singularity 10
Pull 6
Shockwave -
Bastion 10
Warp Ammo 6
Wow! This class is so much fun. Not quite finished with the game yet but I'm getting close. I picked up sniper rifles in the collector ship and this class feels exactly like how I think the vanguard should have played. I can sit back and use biotics, or bust out SMG and reak havoc while sitting back or go sniper and watch enemies go down just as quick. Or with the right squadmates I can full court press encounters. Some encounters are a breeze with the right squadmates. I feel like this class has way more assualt utility than the vanguard without any of the drawbacks. I plan to put the rest of my points into Warp Ammo if possible, but yeah, I'm loving this class. A sniper Adept is pretty fun stuff. A suppose maybe to be a true sniper Adept I'd have to put points into Throw instead of Pull.

Both classes are extremely fun and versatile and from what I see, you seem to favor the Engineer type of playstyle by enjoying Adept so much. The style between Adept and Engineer are practically one in the same as the two specialize in manipulating the battlefield as well as rely heavily on their powers, oppose to weapons. The slight difference is that Engineers can potentially clear the battlefield a lot quicker considering that their powers specialize in removing armor wheras the Adept's specialize after the armor has been removed.
If you are familiar with my work, you will notice that I have designed a thorough guide for both of the classes. Keep in mind that the guide isn't exactly designed to give you a clear passage through insanity, but more or less covers different aspects of the class so you could identify the specific playstyle you favor.

Also, if the guide doesn't answer your questions, you may message me personally as I have a lot of experience pertaining to the class. I've successfully completed two playthroughs as both Engineer and Infiltrator and I am actually on my third run with both classes. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the feedback Jaekahn. I've been watching the vids people post and have been reading snippets here and there. I'll look into your guides to see if I can get a better feel for each. I played the Infiltrator only through the intro mission and thought it was also a lot of fun using tactical cloak. I think part of my problem with the Vanguard was that it was my first run and I was still learning, and I think perhaps that class was to difficult for me to get right on the first play through.

The vanguard is one of the most difficult classes to play, yet one of the most enjoyable as well. It's challenging due to its pure offensive capabilities and lack of a good, reliable defense. Engineers and Infiltrators are aggressive classes, but they also have tricks to them that can label them as conservative as well. The fascinating thing about the two of them is that they are so versatile, you can set up a build to accomodate your preference in playstyles.
The guides I posted should help you identify which one is suitable for you and then provide more information about them. If they do not, as I said before, feel free to message me and I will fill in any gaps.

You can't really go wrong with either class. Both can play the battlefield like Charlie Daniels plays the fiddle. I like the Infiltrator style a bit more as it's much more aggressive. Cloak is so versatile it's almost overpowered. With cryo ammo and the tempest, it feels almost like a lower risk vanguard that can snipe well.
