In the end it won't matter how many allies are on your side when the Reapers come. Here is why:

The Reapers have thousands of huge ships just as big as Sovereign.

It took taking down its shields by killing his puppet Saren and then having hundreds of warships focus on just one Reaper, Sovereign, just to kill it.

So in the end it will not matter how many people you have on your side but finding a scientific way to take down the Reapers.

Of course Shephard having many allies will help with finding a way to stop them. Without Shephard taking everyones head out of there ass everyone will be blind to the Reaper invasion. Billions upon billions will die.

Shephard has to convince the entire galaxy to push toward one goal, stopping the Reapers.

Also if you look at the ending no matter if you destroy the base or not Shephard gets handed a datapad with information and diagrams of Reapers. Probably taken by EDI during the suicide mission. This may be the evidence to convince everybody.

Whether it be EDI's anti-reaper cybernetic warfare giving the Reapers viruses taking down the shields. or using the Mass Relays somehow as a weapon or means of escape Shephard definetly has his/her work cut out for him/her.

The trip back is inconvenient and gives time for galactic allies to assemble in combat (which is why the Citadel is important for the Reapers).

Unless they wanted to negate the story of ME 1 then you should be able to stand against them. That data recovered in the end should assist them as well, on how this actually plays out we do not know.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. If the Reapers could simply steamroll all over the galaxy while laughing at us, they wouldn't come up with a carefully laid out plan to eliminate the galaxy's leadership and shut down the entire relay network.

I hope we actually get to see a war on the Reapers. Legions of marines and whole divisions of armor clashing with reaper drones and mechs on the ground, as titanic fleets and hordes of fighters slug it out in orbit.

I want some epic battle in ME3. One that makes people talk about it years after ME3 hits the shelves. I want a space opera battle of Helms Deep mixed with the stand at Thermopylae and crossed with Horus' Seige of Terra and both Death Star battles at the same time.

All set to a rocking soundtrack composed by Judas Priest and Manowar.

Wouldn't it be funny if when the actual Reaper fleet turns up, all their ships are actually as big as a a hamster, the "vanguard" (Sovereign, human-Reaper et al) being the only ones who were supposed to be big? And the Normandy just rams through them while looking for them?

Joker: "Well Commander, we're here with a huge fleet of Council ships, Rachni, Quarians, Geth, Krogan, the kitchen sink. Where are the Reapers?"

Harbinger: "You ran right through us! Bastards.."

I'm reminded of a certain cartoon character...

They would if they wanted to maximise resource harvest, they could stampede but its more efficient to close down the relay network, take out the galactic leadership and spend a few centuries clearing each system.

Hell yes, and throw in a huge ending like the Time war from the Doctor Who series, had to blow up a sun and kill everyone. Little depressing, but cool

I suddenly wonder if we'll even see all the Reapers in ME3... I mean... without someone to activate the Citadel relay, how would they even get there within Shepard's natural lifetime?

Time skip.

"Thirty years have passed" ect.

I'd be hell pissed if that turns out to be the case, but I'm having trouble seeing how it could be otherwise.  The Reapers are stuck coming in from Dark Space the hard way, ie: nothing but FTL.

Unless theres more stars like Haestrom, and they're a sort of ad-hoc mass relay system.

No I think they have a way to get back in the galaxy in a timely fashion, the Citadel just locks the relays and acts as a control. Besides you can't send thousands of ships that size in one jump to the Citadel... I think

It might not take too long; even without mass relays, mass effect technology still allows for FTL travel. And if they've been hauling ass since Soveriegn bought it in ME1, they could make it pretty fast...but apparently showing up all at once, right at the Ciatdel was preferable to doing it the hard way.

I seriously doubt that The Reapers are going to be defeated by simply strength of arms. Even if the third game has a huge epic battle and involves you bringing all the major races together to fight The Reapers, it's likely going to be something else that defeats them. Reverse indoctrination or logical paradoxes or something will be the deciding factor.

OP, you are right about the need to find a new weapon against the Reapers. But Still, provided it is found, the more ships will there be on our disposal to mount this weapon on, the better.

You are permanently grounded. You are not allowed to invite friends here, either.

That depends on how much faster than light standard FTL is. I mean... the galaxy is BIG. Really big. Like, "Wow, that's bigger than my puny brain can comprehend!' big. Plus, we have no idea how far into dark space they were. Unless they were all hovering at the edge of the galaxy like large robotic vultures, or someting.

(I support Vulture Reaper for end boss of ME3)
