1 large caltop seems to do just enough damage to widdle away somthing and weaken enemies. It also stops them from moving around to much making it easier for Shale to taunt them.

So is it just me? IS anyone else having excessive amounts of trouble on normal?

My biggest problem ATM in Orzammar is that I can't for the life of me find injury kits.. so my party is really screwed... and my main character has 6 injuries although he's never fallen in battle..

My party was two tanks (Alistar, and me), Lelianna with a bow, and Wynne for healing. No CC, but with two tanks we do fine against larger groups. Mages are my bane.
I love the difficulty. I feel its spot on.

But doesnt always work, there are times when you fight one opponent, use potions, heal do everything and that opponent STILL kills all your party with half health left... (im currently stuck on a similar moment)

I find i do not need to do anything on easy to win fights yet putting game on normal just proves how clueless i am as the same fight i will get owned very quickly indeed....frustrating.

The combat in this game isn't hard you just gotta be patient enough to pause for almost every round in some fights. A lot of people are too used to button mashing games like warcraft now and don't remember the days of BG 1 & 2 and other "turn-based" RPG's...
Like the manual says.. the higher difficulty settings require a lot of pausing and maximum use of skills and buffs as well as using the terrain to your advantage.
Getting the tactics set up right makes a huge difference as well.
I like how this game isn't a complete walk in the park like most games now days.

My friend once sent in his two-handed warrior in first before the tank and just got destroyed and blamed it on game mechanics and how it's too hard. There really should be a strategy guide or a list of beginner tips somewhere, because I'm pretty sure the difficulty turns off newer players who are used to more casual games.
But I'll have to say, the satisfaction of being tactically superior is rewarding. Just keep at it, and by the time you get over the learning curve you'll be destroying people in no time.

I just feel i have been thrown in at the deep end somewhat to me having to try and take down 8/9 mobs all at once just seems overwhelming.
Totally different game to what i have played before, makes me completing Uncharted 2 100% on my PS3 almost laughable in comparison to difficulty/learning curve/understanding game

easy = faceroll mode.
did you ever play BG? >.>
You don't know how happy I was when I realized I had to be careful. And think. And that it was easy to die. *sigh* and I want it to get harder and harder, and I want to get better and better. But alas! people complain. I hope they install and even higher difficulty. I guess more options couldn't hurt..but what kind of person would want to go it to be easier? :\\
FIGURE IT OUT
not trying to be rude...
but seriously. Just strategerize, it'll work out - think, brains r m helpful.

The thing is to take your time, everytime you pause, check every and any of your char, see what he can do, and learn to mix the abilities (I'm playing a "cold mage", and I learned how to use it efficiently without killing my allies).
