This may not be the right place for suggestions, and I am unsure whether anyone on the development team will read this, but I would like to offer some of my critiques and suggestions for the game. This post is not intended to be a rant. I only post because I love the series so much. Having completed the game on insanity as well as acquiring all achievements for both games, I feel entitled to say my piece.

- DLC armor: it would be nice if there were an option to remove the helmets for these. The Blood Dragon and Cerberus Assault armors are particularly beautiful to me, but having my Shepard's face covered up all the time defeats the purpose of customizing my face. This game is, after all, heavily character-driven, and facial expressions play a huge part in the essential body language that BioWare has so eloquently offered.

-Vehicles and open terrain:  I have reserved judgment for the game as a whole until the Hammerhead is released, but I felt that the Mako in the original game was an integral part of the experience. Where many of the environments in ME1 are vast and epic, they are in ME2 compact and linear. That's not to say ME1 was without such places, but having both gave a more complete experience, in my opinion. Everyone seems to hate the Mako, but I really enjoyed it, even though most of the planets and the "dungeons" they held were very similar. I would have liked to see more of such exploration in ME2 to find lost technology or team members, easter eggs, or things to enrich the overall story.

-Combat: Although I appreciate the extra effort put into the cinematic experience and the deep character interaction of the game compared to the original, I felt that the game became a "shooter with RPG elements" rather than an "RPG with shooter elements" like the first. There is very little choice when it comes to how to develop your characters. I am glad that some of the combat and skills selection was streamlined (i.e. how does it take "skill" to wear armor?) but it left less room for customization.

However, this is a non-issue, as the typical gamer would prefer it this way, and it doesn't take away from the game as a whole. My only real issue with the combat is the use of these "thermal clips." I realize there is a codex entry to explain why the change was made but I really preferred the ME1 method, heat mitigation. That was one of the things that set ME1 apart from the rest of the shooters, the fact that you didn't have to reload or step on ammunition that mysteriously appears in your hand when your toe touches it.

-Romance: I play a female Shepard (for obvious reasons) and I personally am attracted to women. I, among many others it seems, am a big fan of Tali. I had hoped for more than "let's share our suit environments sometime" but I suppose that's the best I could hope for. Considering how much Miranda's opinion of Shepard improves, she would have also been an interesting choice (and easier, seeing as how she's human). And the most obvious, Samara (who is much more beautiful and intriguing than Liara) doesn't seem to be an option either.

I would have thought there might be more bi-curious crew members (besides Kelly, but she doesn't really count now does she?), considering the lengths the developers went in ME1. Perhaps all the negative publicity with that game urged them to avoid too much racy stuff in this game. Regardless, the romances in the game are not entirely what I had hoped for or expected, but they are very rich and fulfilling in regards to the story. So for that I have to give a thumbs up.

-Insanity difficulty: I realize that Insanity is intended to be just that, clinically insane. But it seemed a bit more difficult than it had to be in some areas (Collector ship platforms anyone?). Sometimes I would think to myself just how easy those Krogan battlemasters with Immunity were in ME1, compared to trying to fight two to three Ymir mechs at once with little cover and no retreat. I did finish the game on Insanity, however, so it is possible.

-Game length: I finished my first playthrough in literally 3 days from launch. I even saved most of my crew because I had done all their loyalty missions. Considering the epic scale of ME1, this story seemed a lot smaller in scope. That doesn't make it a bad game by any means, but it was not what some of us had expected. I am hoping that, unlike its predecessor, the DLC for ME2 will enrich the game even further.

Overall, ME2 is a brilliant work of art, worthy of its place in the hearts of the fans of the ME universe. With a little tweaking it might have been truer to the original, but anything negative about this game is overshadowed by the pure awesomeness of the rest.
