Elven male mage, starting out with minor heal (because he recognizes the usefulness of the spell), ice spell primal tree and full-on entropy hexes (aiming for the last two hexes in particular), sleep/horror branch (because it requires mental pass check, not a physical one) and health drains. Currently he is an adventurous sort, eager to learn the deepest secrets of the arcane and not afraid to risk his life for it. He has a high willpower at all times, so will not be fooled/tricked into submission by the demons, though people may think otherwise. Though he is willing to pursue the blood mage path, he is good at heart and actions, and will not do things that are generally "bad".

Male Human mage starting out. Master of the elements with some healing... Ill prob take shapeshifting and spirit healer as my specialty because the shapeshifting fits with my nature bent and the healer because it supports the rest of my group... and I dont know what it is about Wynn I just dont like her and will use anyone else if possible.

Not taking a second specialization seems like a bad idea unless you're doing it for RP reasons since I don't believe you HAVE to use any of the new spells and there are some kind of bonuses to stats associated with the new specialization. My mage was all set to be blood/AW with a focus on damage through at least one primal line (probably ice for shatter combos) and survivability through the AW armor capability and the health drain of blood. The video preview I saw showed the mage running out of mana pretty easy so having a backup (your health) seems like a good idea. The notion that you could have a dragon form as a high level shifter is cause for some uncertainty, however. Although if there is some kind of uber spell for shifter, there is probably something comparable for blood, so that might be worth waiting to find out about.

female human mage - spirit healer/arcane warrior

spirit healer and arcane warrior, or maybe I'll just skip to arcane warrior if that's possible.

I am not sure yet myself. The Blood Mage and Shapeshifer sound very appealing to me, hard to choose.

First will be Blood Mage. Second, if I decide to do a second mage playthrough, will be Arcane Warrior.

I'm planning my mage like this:
Arcane Bolt->Arcane Shield [->Staff Focus??->Arcane Mastery??]
Rock Armor->Stonefist*->Earthquake->Petrify*
Spell Shield->Dispel Magic->Anti-Magic Ward->Anti-Magic Burst
Mind Blast->Force Field*->Telekinetic Weapons->Crushing Prison*
Disorient->Horror*->Sleep*->Waking Nightmare
Arcane Warrior specialization [+/- Shapeshifter ??]
Bonuses:
- can fight mages and fighters.
- nice spell combos:*
- should be able to save some precious mana by finishing low level monsters with a sword or staff [or animal form?]
Minuses:
- no fireball...
- depends on how the Arcane warrior/Shapeshifter really works...
- not sure if choosing Arcane Warrior and Shapeshifter is not quite redundant ?

I don't think that picture is one of them.
I think as a solo mage i will grab rock armor glyphs heals and be a shapeshifting spirit healer

I wanted to make a lightning casting avatar of doom but I think i'll be a buffer/debuffer, there are just too many cool spellz like that. Oh and I'll specilize in Spirit Healer and maybe Shapeshifter.

No specialization at all. I'll spend specialization points to unlock said specialties and gain their stat bonuses, but I'm not spending talents on any of those spell lines with my first mage. None of them are a good fit. Now, if there is ever an elementalist specialization DLC things will change. In a subsequent playthrough I may try a Spirit Healer/Arcane Warrior to simulate a D&D style cleric, but that's unlikely to occur anytime soon.

Arcane Warrior all the way.

There seem to be a lot of good spells to choose from. In terms of specialisations, Spirit healer interests me the least, but that's just based on its flavour not its power. I will probably go with at least two mages on the first playthrough so will probably use Bloodmage, Shapeshifter, Arcane Warrior and double up on one of them.

Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage
but this information about shapeshifters really added some interest on them... but Morrigan will do that role, so it's ok.

I will be playing through as 3 separate Mages eventually.
Rhyst - A young human prodigy, despite his age Rhyst has intimate and categorical knowledge of everything he has ever endeavoured to study. A man of strong will and arcane ability, Rhyst is also power hungry, believing that the Chantry is limiting his potential, that given the opportunity Rhyst believes he could shape the world and create a future absent of the evil that plagues the land. His hunger for such power will lead him along the razors edge, as he begins to dabble in demonic Blood Magics and will even lead him to search for the secretes of the Arcane Warrior. Only time will tell if the young Mage will be able to harness the malevolent powers for good, or ultimately fall victim to the darkness. Blood Mage/Arcane Warrior
Jamielle - Her years in Cicle under the watchful eyes of the Chantry have sheltered her from the world outside. She is naive but incredibly strong willed. Her heart is big and her spirit pure. Jamielle is deeply scarred by her harrowing, so much pain and torment she witnessed that day. Vowing to end the pain of Ferelden her spirit burned bright with new magics, she began to heal others with the power of her resolve and has not since looked back. Still, Jamielle has become keenly aware of how fragile beings are, closeing herself of to others and prefer to spend time alone with the wilds. It is in this solitude that Jamielle discoveres the secrets of shapeshifting, she finnaly had a way to let the beast insdie, enraged with the world, out. Spirit Healer/Shapeshifter
Ourier - An, Elf in a humans world. Ourier has only been in the circle for a short time. In that time he has been bombasted with hateful and malicious attacks. The humans still see his kin as dirt, despite all the power he weilds he is dirt. No longer, Ourier has completed his horrowing and knows what he must do. He will free the Elves from the yolk of Human opression. To do so, deals with demons must be made, the hatred inside must be given form. Blood will be spilt and Blood Magics used, and the hate inside will transorm into a rageing beast that all will fear. Brutality is all the Humans understand, but can Ourier save his people or will he become the tyrant he wishes to usurp. Blood Mage/Shapeshifter
Those are the Mages I plan to play the story with. As you can see I'm most interested in Blood Magic and Shapeshifting, Rhyts will be the first though as the Blood Magic/Arcane Warrior combo is the one that has me most interested.

I'm thinking of going more the fireball throwing route. though specializations do seem pretty niiice so i'm planning to take arcane warrior and either blood/spirit healer depending on the needs of the party and what blood magic entails.

My human mage will probably be blood/shapeshifting, if that's possible, with a taste for the ultraviolent. In the vein of clockwork orange. A nice contrast from the type of characters I normally play.
They'll fall before a single tolchock hurts me!
