If it helps, I did enjoy parts of the game. It's just not a sequel. Or good.

Seriously epic fail, go watch Star Wars: A New Hope did it need a sequel no not really, did Batman '89 need Returns again no, did Die Hard need Die Hard 2 no, did Bioshock really need Bioshock 2, does any Grand Theft Auto game need a sequel no. If you look at many films and games the sequels are not necessarily needed and can be left alone as a standalone game or film or book, etc. And Mass Effect actually probably has more reason for a sequel than most games.
