OP is correct.

(plot) ME2 does not develop the plot to defeat the Reapers.  Instead, we fight a proxy battle from their servants.  Shepard is in the same position he/she was in at the end of ME1.
(plot) ME2 instead focuses on 11 other characters that have no involvement with the development of the main plot.
(character dev) ME2 does not develop the Shepard character.  Although this may be by design, Shepard is still a flat and static character.  If they can spend any amount of time developing side characters better than the protagonist, they can spend some time developing the main plot at least.  Gone is the point of him/her being a Spectre, having the Prothean Cipher, having the data of the becons in his head.  He's just a grunt.  No one really cares that he's back from the dead or the hero of the Citadel.
(complete stupidity) The fact that you can blow up the Collector base literally puts Shepard in the same position as in starting ME1: no proof or evidence, no Reaper tech, and no Reaper information.
(complete stupidity on the writers) ME2 has baby Terminator.  Really Bioware?
(linear does not mean better)ME2 has Shepard railroaded into doing whatever Cerberus/TIM wants.  The fact that you can blow up the base at the end is ridiculous if you don't trust them.  Where's the option to hand it over to the Alliance or Council?  If you didn't trust Cerberus to keep the base, you should have been able to cut ties with them at the get go.  You can't have it both ways.
(plot)  We learn nothing new about the Reapers, aside from them being really stupid, and we learn nothing new about their servants, the Collectors (after we just destroyed them.  Doubly so if you blew up their base.)  The Collectors could've had some other group being their bosses and it wouldn't have made a difference.
(plot and writer stupidity) The Citadel and the Alliance still don't believe the Reaper threat is real, despite massive amounts of evidence, or Shepard is too thick to show them.  I think I heard in a ME2 promotional vid, the interviewer saying "there's evidence but not enough proof?"  100k+ people have disappeared?  A Collector Ship is leaving a booster-rocket-hole in the ground in every planet they land on the size of a football field?  Yet the Council can believe in ME1 an MP3 file of Saren talking to Benezia about the Reapers.
(retcon) Guns have ammo and can't be modded anymore because of a Geth codex entry.  Thanks Bioware.

Agree that is what I am doing.

I'll go back to something Priestly said in the old forums, ME2 is a sequel to ME1 the way Temple of Doom was a sequel to Raiders of the Lost Arc.  They both have Indiana Jones in the title, they both have the same protagonist, and one directly followed the other.  I suppose in the loosest definition of the word that constitutes a "sequel".  Its a collection of adventure tales that may or may not fall in chronological order.

Its not a sequel in the way Empire Strikes Back was a sequel to A New Hope though, where you actually see the cast and the story progress beyond the groundwork that was laid in the first chapter.  Which is kinda what folks were expecting with all the talk of "over arcing story across three chapters" and "your choices will carry over and matter".  Some folks won't care one way or the other, some folks are gonna be disappointed.  Simple as that.
