Which organization offers the most challenging enemies? After playing the game enough times heres my take.

Collectors:
Dominated by reave, warp, and warp ammo. None of their weapons are all that scary and Harbinger is more of an annoyance than a worry. Scions and Husks will only kill you if you get cocky, even Praetorians will never kill you if you are careful since their laser doesn't do that much damage. Overall one of the easiest enemy types.

Blood Pack:
Dominated by inferno ammo and incendiary blast. With inferno ammo they are really no threat at all. They do have some scary offense in the form of Pyros, missile launchers and Krogan, but as long as you are not caught off guard you should be fine.

Geth:
Dominated by disrupter ammo and overload. They are aggressive, have strong defenses, and usually come out in big numbers. They probably flank more than any other enemy and they also carry missile launchers and flame throwers, but disrupter ruins them. Sadly the Colossus is pretty harmless if you are behind cover and it can even be charge shotgunned to death by a Vanguard. Would be #1 if not for disrupter ammo.

Eclipse/Blue Suns:
I put these together because theres not much of a difference between them as far as I can tell. They aren't really dominated by any one ability since they mostly consist of blue shields and organic health. They aren't the most aggressive, but they will try to flank you if you let them, and they carry lots of missile launchers. They also come with YMIR mechs which are actually scary compared to most enemies.

I would probably rank it like this:
1. Eclipse/Blue
2. Collectors
3. Geth
4. Blood Pack

I'm bored and can't sleep.

It depends on the class you're playing.

If you're infiltrator or engineer, Geth are probably the easiest opponents in the game - you can hack them every 6 seconds (or less). Even without disruptor ammo, they're the easiest.

On the other hand, I don't really view any group as particularly challenging

I Agree, but i think Eclipse gets the advantage over the Blue Suns, because they have Barriers

You can bring squad mates to fill in weaknesses so your class shouldn't make that much of a difference. Not to say it doesn't make a difference, but it's still possible to make a general ranking. I don't think AI hacking makes Geth all that easy. With that logic dominate is the best skill in the game. Eclipse having barriers is actually a downside imo, but most have blue shields anyways unless I'm remembering wrong.

I should add I only play on insanity. I have no idea how the game is even like on other difficulties. I modified the title to clear that up.

Like Eclipse/Blue Suns as well. Illium is my favorite mission area.

If you don't have AI Hacking Geth can be a pain with super aggressive Hunters, Destroyers and Primes. The missions you fight them tend to have them in large groups as well (especially Tali's loyalty mission).

Bloodpack are a pain early on due to the Regen. Krogan are annoying due to their general toughness and aggressive AI. Varren packs can be dangerous too.

I find Scions + Husks + Abominations much more difficult than Mercs + YMIR Mechs.
I don't remember ever dying to a YMIR Mech past Freedom's Progress. Scion Shockwave + Stray Abomination can wipe you in seconds. YMIR mechs on the other hand telegraph their rocket attack, and their machine gun fire is very predictable. YMIR and mercs are also a lot less aggressive about rooting you out of cover.

Eclipse >> Blue Suns.

Engineering Drones and Vanguards with barriers are annoying. The only thing Blue Suns have that Eclipse don't is the occasional flame thrower wielding merc.

I only find Pyros hard, the rest of the game is a cakewalk.

Maybe I should have separated the two, but they are still fairly similar. I have disagree with you on husks and scions though, they are extremely easy for me.

Try overload. Any enemy with a flamethrower will be instakilled once the armor or shield is down.

Huh....you know I don't even bother trying that because I only have 1 point in overload, but its really not a bad idea to test out.

I suppose the next most difficult enemy for me would be Geth Hunters before you recruit tali. Surprised to see people had trouble with the blue suns mercs.

Eclipse are the hardest for me for sure. Especially those vanguards with the Claymores that want to do nothing more than run into your face. Also I (love to) hate dealing with blue suns when they bring mechs with them. It's so hard to prep for missions with shields and armor at the same time.

Mechs are a pain but if you backtrack enough they can't follow you in some places.

Eclipse has Engineers and Asari Sentinel/Vanguard hybrid kids, but they lack mechs and good "soldier" commanders.

I wouldn't forget Blood Pack. Vorcha and krogan have nasty HP/Armor regen. If you don't use incendiary armor or Alteration on them, you'll have a tougher fight than you imagine.

This + Scions + Preatorians + Exploding Things ! THEY ARE INFURIATING.They make me want to punch kittens.

Or I am just too impatient. Killing them takes forever:pinched:

Shoot with your favorite rapid-fire weapon to remove armor. Apply Slam. Rinse. Repeat.

That would be a way to cakewalk husks if you find them to be a problem.

revenant machine gun takes killing husks to a whole new level.

Aside from that, every enemy is equally easy IMO. They just have 1 layer of defense which is stripped away rather easily.

I'd have to say I'm most bothered by collector Guardians. Nothing is worse than near killing a guardian, haveing it pop up its dumb shield, and then turning into harbingers. I think harbinger is easier to kill that guardians.

Groups of Ymir Mechs are the only thing that gives me pause on Insanity. You really only encounter one GROUP of Ymir, and that's to disable the luring signal of the Blue Suns. 2 Ymir Mechs can just storm you out of cover, unless you get lucky and the clip into a box.

Other than that, a Scion-Harbinger combo can get pretty nasty, but it all just depends on the environment. On the Collector ship, it can get pretty nasty, especially for a vanguard. But on Horizon, it's no sweat, because there's plenty of isolated enemies to charge into for cover-distance.

Never had a problem with husks. Hand Cannon + Shockwave = Dead husks. The most effective way to kill them is take out armor (Incineration blast or well placed hand-cannon shots) then clear them immediately with a biotic AE. The Grenade Launcher as well, can kill clusters very fast.

Husk swarms when combined with other enemies, easily.
