That last sentence was true for NWN too, you know ;).
NWN had the queue too, in fact, Kotor used NWN engine. That's my only real problem with DA:O, I don't understand why they took out the queue.
Oh, I never used autopause on those games, don't like it. Guess I just tend to pause myself a lot.

Yeah, I was a little dissapointed by the lack of a que but I guess they figured they wouldn't need it with the scripting you can do for your party members.  Yeah, autopause was really annoying, run around a corner and the game just stops, took me a little bit to figure out waht was going on and then I got rid of it.

You know, looking back at all the games I've played in my 22 years of gaming, I can truthfully say that the Mass Effect universe has taught me that games can be better written and more intricate than books and movies.

Mass Effect 3, don't be long.

True.  After 12 though, I'm skeptical that the game will even be any good.  I hated the switch to a pseudo-realtime combat.  I'm terrible at AI scripting, I like making said choices myself.  However, the game doesn't pause when its' someone's turn, so they act on their AI unless I'm able to switch to them ahead of time and plan my next action.  This was kinda my problem with DA:O too.  I like turn-based, and I like fully-realtime combat.  Both 12 and DA:O had a turn-based type system, with weapon speeds or delays between actions, but everything happened in real time.  I'm aweful at micromanaging that much crap in real-time.  -_-

Agreed, I wasnt overly fond of either of those systems, FF12 really didnt do anything for me at all. DAO was ok but because it was happening in real time I had a tendency to get carried away controlling my own character and not keeping track of everyone else. I could set everyone up to do what I wanted but really didnt feel any confidence in them doing it unless I was stepping in to make them heal. Id either prefer to have full control of them and be fully turn based or have very little control and I just tell them where to go.

Nope, they're not ready. They're still too busy with their vampire TV shows.

Tell me about it. I bought ME1 a month before ME2 released, and I haven't touched anything since. I'm working on a few ME1 import saves for ME2 right now. I'm doomed!

Well this is kinda the point.  I don't have the funds to invest into upgrading my PC every year or two.  I've had my 360 for two years already, and everything I play on it still comes out in beautiful HD.  There's also no talk about next gen consoles yet, so who knows how long my system will last altogether?

Neither do I and I don't have any problem playing on PC. You don't need to upgrade you computer every year or two at all unless you're a graphic obsessed gamer who always want to play every game on top options. I've just bought a new PC recently, my former PC is from 5 years ago with a graphics card from 3 years ago, and I played Mass Effect 1 with it without problems.

My PC's sitting around 5 years old now as well.  My moniter is about 7, it doesn't go above 1024x768 res.  I have an HDTV, and a 360 hooked up through an HDMI cable.  Games on my 360 are beautiful, games on my PC are always turned down to run smoothely.  My 360 doesn't get viruses, and I feel more at home with a controller in my hand and a much more comfortable seat.  Sure, I could move the TV over to my desk and play off of my PC, but that's too much work, and there's no guarantee my PC's hardware can support the game as well anyway.  I just prefer my 360.

My sentiments exactly!  I ended up turning DA:O down to the lowest difficulty and tried to play it all out in real-time, just playing my character and then switching when I needed something specific.  If that hadn't worked, I wouldn't have bothered finishing the game at all.  I liked the story and all, but DA:O will go the way FF8 did for me.  The gameplay will prevent me from ever playing it again.

Yeah I know. I always tell my mum (who likes to read/watch good books/movies),whytf don't you go play a game! It's MUCH more emersive etc etc. But my parents still think games are simple. The only thing my mum likes is The Sims -.-
And I got a friend who I just cant convince to play ME, he's like "Yeah I just got BFBC2, and it's a great game!! You should try it.,,  NO ITS NOT A GREAT GAME!!! It's a fun game, simplistic as ****, but fun.. not great. Great games are games which you think about when at work/in bed etc. Games that move you, games like ME.

I can't stand the fact they won't even try it..

No but I did confuse them with the phrase "Id leave you all on Virmire." Before mumbling under my breath about going all renegade on them.

I had the opposite problem with FF8 i found the gameplay ok. But the story after a few hours made me want to claw my own eyes out. A bunch of overly skilled teenagers(not surprising for a jrpg i know) having to fight their babysitter who is now a time traveling witch!?!?

If your only playing ME1 for story reasons I recommend setting it to casual and just breezing through. I went from just before the big choice on Virmire to finishing the game in around 2 hours last night and that was with 1 sidequest thrown in too. So now I have a save with Kaiden which feels weird, also playing as an infiltrator instead of a soldier in ME2 feels odd too. Its amazing how much more you get out of ME1 now aswell with all the extra lore knowledge from ME2.

I've been using http://masseffectsaves.com to get my imports for ME2. It's a lot easier than playing through ME1 again, which like I said before, I have control problems with on the PC. They have a pretty good collection there.

I had the opposite problem with FF8 i found the gameplay ok. But the story after a few hours made me want to claw my own eyes out. A bunch of overly skilled teenagers(not surprising for a jrpg i know) having to fight their babysitter who is now a time traveling witch!?!?

That's why I don't think I'll ever try any of the FF series. Regardless of how well the game plays, if Japanese anime is any indication, the stories can be pretty strange. Not that saving the universe with a bunch of wierd looking aliens isn't strange, but ME does it in a traditional sci-fi sort of way.
