HI everybody, I'm new here and I have a problem. I was directed here by a link received in a support message; here was my original question:

Hello,
I am writing to you in relation to a problem that has arisen in my copy of Dragon Age: Origins for the XBOX 360.
My problem is with Leliana's personal quest. I realise that a patch called Patch 1.02 was released and it was supposed to fix problems with her quest. I am unsure whether I received this patch, although I did recently receive an update when connecting to XBOX LIVE with Dragon Age: Origins. If I did receive this update it isn't affecting my game; there are no new dialogue options with Leliana. My player character is NOT in a romance with her and I am nearing the end of the game (right before the Landsmeet). Her approval is high (in the yellow) and I'm wondering if there is something I can do in conjunction with a received patch to re-open her dialogue.
If the update I received was not the patch, could you please outline how I might get it, or if it is even available for the XBOX 360.
Your time is greatly appreciated,
Thank You.Image IPB

Please if anyone has an answer- please reply!

We don't have that patch on the 360, the only patch we've gotten is for the achievements.   Image IPB
I have a character with the same problem, I believe it's caused by giving her gifts before speaking to her in camp. I've done everything up to the landsmeet but can't get any new dialogue options from her or trigger her quest on the map. (ambush by assassins) There is no fix atm for this bug on xbox.

I have heard that her approval has to be nearly maxed out. At least within the very last approval bar on the scale. Also, you have to get her to tell you about her past in Orzamar before the assassins will trigger.

It doesn't sound like you're having technical problems.

''It doesn't sound like you're having technical problems.''

-Is that so? Which forum should it be on?

Yes, the Support guy told me there was no current fix, so the Orzammar thing isn't really right. As well as that the one 54321 said

'' have heard that her approval has to be nearly maxed out. At least within the very last approval bar on the scale.''

-This is untrue, my sister started a game and Leliana's approval was quite low when she triggered the assassin's encounter. Maybe you think I want to start a romance? (I don't)

Dannyboy, you're very right, I foolishly gave her lots of gifts and got her approval high :(

I'm also right before the Landsmeet, but I had completed the game, but went back to a previous save to try and do Leliana's quest.

At the moment I'm going to try this (please tell if you tried so that I don't waste my time :P)

:

Get Leliana's approval really high (near 100), and then somehow cheat on Morrigan, the trigger a confrontation and dump Leliana.

- Horrible really, using women like this lol.

This is beyond wrong. Please disregard.

There is what some people consider a bug wherein if you raise her approval too high she will not tell you about being a bard in Orlais and consequently will not admit her lie to you. You need her approval to be relatively low (around where it starts) in order to trigger the various conversations that lead to her assassin encounter. If you do not have those conversation options it is highly likely that your approval is too high.

There's no easy fix for this unless you want to try to find ways to lower her approval. Sorry.....

Have you had the conversation in which you ask her about bards being spies and the follow up conversation in which she tells you about how she ended up in the chantry? The option does not disappear at high approval, but the the first conversation is available at relatively low approval and the second not until the approval is higher. If you have not had those conversations, the rest of the quest will not trigger.

You can find all of this information in the quests forum, which is where these sorts of questions really should be.

-I missed all those conversations, and I'm near the end of the game, so there's not a lot to do to lower her approval. The reason this is in ''Technical'' is because if enough people experience the problem and complain then a technical patch is more likely.

Missing the conversations because you didn't talk to her enough isn't a technical glitch, it is the way the game is designed. The conversation tree may still be available if you go talk to her.

No, in the reply the Support guy told me that it was an issue that was unaddressable by a patch at the moment- it was not a deliberate game design.

While what you describe is true, you in fact do have to have her approval near the highest before she'll become romantically involved with you. And it's not a bug just because some people don't like it. It would have been an easy fix if it were a bug and we've had several patches. Her behavior through her approval ratings are deliberate.

I'm not sure what is not deliberate about it. If you don't trigger the conversations at the right time they pass you by.

The Support guy told me it was a glitch:

''The development team is aware of the problem and has not announced plans to fix this issue. We have no information that indicates they will. They are however collecting data from the community and may decide to fix this if they determine enough customers have the problem and the problem is technically addressable with a patch, or if a work around is possible. The development thread on this issue is <<here- Put the forum URL>>. Certainly development will use the information gathered to ensure that this problem does not occur in future releases, however it is impossible to guarantee that this will ever be fixed in the current version. If you are not interested in tracking this issue on the message board, please know that you will automatically be notified if an official solution to this problem in the form of a work around or patch is discovered.''

Son of a ****... the first time I ended up "friendly" with Leliana instead of "romantic" and this time I run into this bug.

I know, it's really annoying, and I'm at the end of the game so there's not a lot left ot change her approval cos I completed most sidequests :S

The OP was asking about her personal quest, not her romance. Therefore, I responded appropriately.

Edit: Oh and btw, you DON'T need her approval terribly high to start the romance with her. Just to bed her.

Lol, is it possible to start a romance without the missing dialogue choices?

Ok I have a fix....sort of, but it costs real cash.

Buy the feastday DLC and then give Leliana the prank (-50 approval, but don't worry thre are fifty +10 gifts and fifty +5 gifts and one +50 gift for her too)

This unlocked the dialogue for me, although it was a pain, I had an affair and managed to get the Wine,Woman and Song achievment too (I reloaded though).

So good luck!!!
