I'm 6 feet, 283 lbs and I've been trying extremely hard to lose weight but nothing works.  I primarily eat nothing but fast food but I have been going on the Taco Bell drive thru diet for 3 weeks already.  I'm getting sick of only eating taco bell though so I expanded my options to KFC's Kentucky Grilled Chicken.
I've been ordering French fries as a side with ketchup in order to get more vegetables in my diet since aside from that I eat none.  I can't eat vegetables or fruit really because they just taste nasty.  I've also tried drinking water but that tastes nasty too so I stick with regular soda.

I've tried exercising but just after 2 minutes walking fast on the treadmill I am exhausted so I have been looking for other means to lose weight.

Smoking helped my friend lose weight so I started smoking about a year ago and I can't tell whether or not it's helping.  I'm up to a pack a day but it's getting expensive.

Could anyone help?

I heard mixing bleach and ammonia in the toilet works wonders.

Samurai used to use swords on their abdomen when the chubs were rollin.

Actually I heard both of those methods can kill you.

Is this post for real? :o

I'm no fitness expert or nutritionist by any stretch of the imagination, but you struck me as smart enough in past posts to probably realize for yourself things you could change. First off, fast food has to stop. You're going to have to visit a supermarket and start buying regular food. If you don't know how to cook, I'm sure there's a variety of precooked items you can heat in a microwave to start with.

Fast food is plain bad for you on a consistent basis. At least the kind you mentioned up there. Eating fruits and vegetables wouldn't hurt, but the big thing is calorie intake. If you really want to lose weight relatively fast you're going to have to start limiting your servings, and keeping track of calorie intake daily. You're going to have to drop soda altogether and learn to like water. Soda is full of empty calories. If tap water is too nasty where you live, then start budgeting money for gallons of bottled water.

To try exercise daily until you get a routine going. Then skipping a day here and there won't hurt you as much. In the beginning exercise is very tiring. Your body needs to adapt. Try walking on your treadmill for only ten minutes at a slow speed. No more than 2.5 miles per hour. Three miles per hour tops. Your mileage may vary of course, so if you feel a need to go slower... do so. Give your body time to adjust. As it does, you can increase the time spent a few more minutes. After you've done that several times, you can think about speeding up your pace bit by bit.

The key is to push yourself, but not to ever make it harder than you can realistically handle. It's not a competition after all. Unfortunately that's all I have. Perhaps someone else can give you more targeted advice.

Oh, and if it wasn't clear before... see a nutritionist. Breaking eating habits isn't easy even when you know what's good for you, and it doesn't sound like you do. Also, forget any of those ridiculous lose weight fast diets. If you want to shed pounds and *keep* them off, there's only exercise and measured eating. There's no magic diet that's going to cut out all the effort for you. One way or another, you're going to have to work for this.

Yeah I figured that was a distinct possibility. :P But I'm bored and had time to kill. There's also the minute chance someone with legitimate weight issues would read it and benefit from that, however basic my advice may be. Guess I've always been too trusting. :P

Yes this post is serious.  My weight is something I have struggled with for many years, please do not make fun of me.

I cannot stop fast food.  That is out of the question for three reasons.

1.I cannot cook

2.I cannot afford other kinds of food

3.Fast food is the only food I think tastes good.

Taste is important.  I want to lose weight but I don't want to sacrifice any of my earthly pleasure.

Also, I eat vegetables every day and have been since I've started ordering french fries with my meals.  Sometimes I have fried Okra when I go to Church's Chicken but that is a special treat.
I don't think I can drop soda.  Anything else just tastes nasty or too bland.
I don't know if I could do 10 minutes on the treadmill.  I could do 3 maybe but then I need to relax with a smoke.  Better than nothing though I suppose.

Okay... well... assuming you really are serious I hate to break it to you, but what you want is unachievable. Fact is, nothing worthwhile comes without sacrifice. If you're serious about losing weight the only it's going to happen is by putting up with blander foods and no soda, ect. If you're not willing to budge even an inch, then you're not truly interested in changing yourself.

It doesn't matter if you start with 3 minutes. If that's your maximum to begin with, then it's your maximum. Everyone has to start somewhere. But exercise alone isn't going to cut it. You'd gain the calories back soon after burning them with habits like that.

Maviarab, I think perhaps you should consider double checking that information because I know I never made any of those claims.
Please, this disclosure is very difficult for me.  I have kept my health issues bottled up inside me for a long time and it required much courage to muster up the ability to confess that I require some advice on this subject.

On a side note, since everyone seems to think you're a troll and you're not willing to help yourself anyway, I'm bowing out. If you are really serious I can't tell you much that I haven't already anyway.

But I have made sacrifices.  I even put myself at risk of lung cancer to lose weight by smoking.  I can't tell if I have dropped any weight yet but sometimes I feel a little less hungry after a cigarette.

Although truth be told I think the whole "cigarettes can kill you" hype is just that, hype.  I know someone who lived to 103 once who was a smoker so so much for that theory.

Dump all that stupid diet crap, get started with a real workout.

Food:

* Bread and butter only for breakfast

* No 12o clock lunch

* Vegetable soup for supper

* Say no to: soft drinks alcohol, milk ,coffee

* No sugar

Workout:

* 4 times a week cycling, at least 4x 30 kilometers. No excuses for bad weather or bad mood/weekend. Just do it.

* Run 5-10 kilometers before breakfast each day.

* Do 20-25 push-ups before breakfast each day

* Do 20-25 push-ups before going to bed.

I tell you, as I was in the military service all fat people dropped weight so quickly, you wouldn't believe it. You couldn't do that with any diet alone.

Oh, shove it. I hate egomaniacs, and you're one of the worst. Just crawl into a hole, and stew in your own feces. This is just another one of your pathetic plays at attention wh^_^ring. Shoo.

That...is...impossible!  That can't be the only way to lose weight!

Godak, this is a serious post about a very real problem I am facing.  You don't have to offer advice but if all you have to contribute are puerile insults then it's probably better you just leave.

Okay, one very last response because my conscience is gnawing at me. Smoking is a bigger hindrance than help. I really shouldn't need to explain why. If nothing else, it makes exercise harder than it should be. I don't want to be so blunt about this, but there's no subtle way to say it... all the things you're doing are flat out harmful to you. Trying to lose weight without changing those habits is like trying to count grains of sand in a beach. You'll never get anywhere.

You're going to need to experiment and make bigger sacrifices... and you're going to need advice from a nutritionist. Because assuming any of your posts are 100% true, whoever fed you this smoking advice couldn't be more wrong.

Well I only smoke ultra lights.  I just need the cigarettes for the oral fixation so I only smoke healthier cigarettes, it's really not a big deal.
I'm willing to experiment but it has to be reasonable.
For example, I could lose weight if I ate 100 calories per day but that isn't reasonable.  I need advice which is pragmatic and goals which are obtainable.

I appreciate your advice nonetheless though.

This is why exercise is important. No one is going to survive on 100 calories a day. You need to cut back on food and try to eat healthier at least most times. (You can keep some junk food in your diet, but only in moderation and not every day.) Then you exercise to try and make up the difference. At first, you probably won't burn enough to even maintain weight. As you improve, you can reach an equilibrium though. And if you keep working, eventually, you'll slowly start to lose. As you improve further, you lose faster and faster. This is especially true for young men. They generally have a much easier time of it than women.

There isn't a magic bullet for this. It's going to be a slow and difficult journey for a long time.

I can understand the confusion perhaps but I really think you need to double check your sources.

Yes, I understand exercise is important and I'm willing to exercise but the treadmill just kills me!  I can barely even get up the stairs.  I was thinking about getting one of those ab buster machines.  If I work my abs afterall I can spot the fat burn in my abdomen and the pounts should drop off and turn to muscle.
I have to find a way to lose weight on the food I eat because what I eat is all I can afford.  I'm a broke college student afterall.
Only food I eat that doesn't come from a window is Ramen.

Top Ramen. Yeesh. >.< That brings back memories.

You need to shop around. Whatever you pay weekly on fast food can't possibly total much less than what you could get from a supermarket anyway. I can't help you there. If you're really that tight on cash, consider applying for food stamps. At this point I'm repeating myself so... not much else I can say. Advice number 1: see a nutritionist. They will probably give you what seems like impossible advice too, but you can be a lot more specific with them about your exact diet, and a good one will give better advice and maybe have ideas on where to shop in your area.
