Okay this has been increasingly frustrating

Im a female human noble; I'm maxed out on my Warrior Skills; specialized in Weapon and Shield.
Romancing Alistair so on so forth.

Trying for Templar skill class but Im running into a huge problem:
1) Alistair wont teach me
2) The Dwarf merchant in camp does't have the Templar book for sale.

and to make matters worse, all of Alistair's dialogue choices and statements thus far, seems that he will not choose to be King, no matter how much I pushed him toward it.

What am I doing Wrong?

Truthfully? He doesn't like your warden very much.

Did you unlock it on an earlier playthrough? If so, it should be unlocked for this one and Bodahn won't have the manual in his inventory.

As for Alistair he needs to like you a fair amount (71+ IIRC),

If you want Alistair to be king, you need to harden him. There is an option in his personal quest that allows you to do that (choose: "everyone is out for themselves" at the appropriate moment).

Naw, Alistair only needs to be at 26 to teach templar. And he'll be king if you make him king no matter what, but he WILL be a better king if he's hardened. However, if in the early dialogs you push him to be king, he gets mad.

Nope. Didn't unlock it, and Bodahn has never had the book for sale.

the dude adores me. I can't even do anything more to make his appreciation higher. Its maxxed

I thought that if you're a human noble, you dont have to harden him. didn't know about "hardening" till I was well through the game, and long past goldana (and I didn't choose the "everyone is out for themselves" dialog option).

so doest htat mean he wont become King? or choose me as a queen? Please tell me that I didn't put 40 hours of gameplay just to get a bad ending.

You can only be queen if you're a human noble, and Alistair doesn't have to be hardened for it. But he does make a better king if you harden him. What you do need is a good coercion level and cunning score so you can convince the Landsmeet.

The templar training is entirely based on approval rating and not whether you're romancing him or not. So if he likes you at all (like someone else mentioned, it doesn't take much, just past the first inspired ability level, I think), he should be willing to train you. If he's not...not sure what the problem is, sorry. :(

Yup the guy adores me. I can't explain it.

While at camp, I initiated the "Can you teach others to be Templars" option. he went into a long explanation then at the end said "Send someone at camp to me" and the convo ended there. Tried to talk to him again, and his convos were about all his history with the Chantry, Grey Wardens, why he became one, hiding his birthright, etc. Nothing about teaching to be a Templar. He's past level 14 so it should have been an option. Now any convo i have with him are three options : "I have some questions" which lead to one choice, the Grey Wardens ; "I need to speak to you in private" - which we all know those choices, and "Never mind".

LOL. You unlocked it. You don't actually have to send anyone to him at camp for the training. When you hit Level 7 or 14, you'll have the choice of speccing as a templar.  :D

ETA: If you still have a spec point free and you're past level 7, you'll be able to choose templar the next time you level up.

Okay, if this is the case then you've already unlocked it. On the level up screen you should be able to select the specialisation. If you're over level 7, which you obviously are as you said Alistair is around 14, then go to the character page and you should be able to select 'level up' and pick the specialisations from there.

Then he has already "taught" you the Templar specialization and anyone in your party and your pc is a warrior can use it. The game does not show the actual training and such when characters in your party can teach you certain specializations. To be certain, the next time you level up you should see the Templar Sword Icon.

The specializations are shown above your attributes on the level up screen. Ones that are unlock will show the icons; ones that are still locked will show a lock.

In your level up screen, the left hand side. It lists your class specializations. You can hover over the icon to see if they are unlocked or not. It will say in red NOT YET UNLOCKED if you haven't. Above that, it will tell you how many specialization points you have. You get 1 at level 7 and another at 14. Simply click the icon of the specialization you want, finish leveling up, and thats it.

When you level up and you have a list of your abilities (strength, dexterity, etc.) where you can allocate points, it's right above it. Four boxes. I believe templar is the second from the left.

Have you not specced anyone in your party yet?

when you lvl up an open book will appear on screen, on one side you can add points to your attibutes (str etc.), on the other there are four icons, each representing a class, the blue one with the sword is for the templar class.
