Hi everyone. After installing mass effect i for now can only run it in window mode and after the "press any key" screen i got a message:

General protection fault!

History: Address = 0x1eaa2 (filename not found)

I updated to patch 1.02.

My PC specs (very modest):
CPU AMD SEMPRON 2.4+
768 RAM
80 GB HD
RADEON HD 4650 - 1 GB
Windows XP

If i try to run in full screen the game pauses in a black screen after the splash screen, and i see two mass effect apps. in task manager...

Thanks for the help!

Your CPU and your RAM are both inadequate. Only your video card is decent, sorry.

Well i think that some slowdown is ok, but that crash like this??? In case of CPU and RAM dont have a compability issue, but a speed issue, so that until now is not the exactly answer i think... and the game is running in full screen 1024x768 after patch upgrade... so that crash is the only issue now... if someone could bring more light on this... and i'm gona talk abut this with XFX, the video card manufacturer...

Well i manage to make mass effect work!!!! :). So i was correctly, the config of my pc only affected the speed but the problem was the driver of video card. After i installed the driver 8.70 of ATI in my Radeon hd 4650 the game works fine and until now (1 hour +) dont have any crash ^.^ .

So there is the tip. The other problem are the Catalyst program of ATI, that he dont work, is so bad... i have to install the newer driver manually, but worked!!

Of course the game is a bit slow and i'm playing in very low resolution, but the speed issue i look next, the important is to make the game run!!

Thanks for the help!

If you own it on Steam, disable the Overlay. That speeds up the game a lot. Although i should test if that still applies to the Beta GUI.
