Fade Burst may have a high base damage due to the fact that warriors won't usually have a crazy-high Willpower, you know.

Really?
Holy Smite's damage is calculated so:
Spirit Damage (100.0 + Willpower) * 0.2 to all hostile targets in the area of effect. Drains Mana from target (100.0 + Willpower) * 0.4 and Spirit Damage (100.0 + Willpower) * 0.2. Stuns target if it fails physical resistance check against Templar's Willpower for 10.0 * (Target Rank Duration Modifier) sec.
For warrior Willpower is usually 40 or lower, so spirit damage 28 and 28 more - 56 only.
And activation cost is 70.

I really doubt that Fade Burst would deal at least 80-100 damage. And it's cost is high, it can deal friendly fire.If to compare just with Two-handed Speep with the cost of 40, cooldown of 20 and good damage (usual damage) without friendly fire... I can say that THS is better.

Holy Smite also involves a mana drain, stun, and knockdown. If Fade Burst doesn't have those things, I imagine it'll hit harder.

I love the new 2h skill, but a 10s cd? Yikes. I hope Awakening has some seriously tough baddies cause that skill would rip just about any DAO encounter apart.

Spirit Warrior just seems way over the top, but we'll see I suppose. On paper it looks like it completely outclasses Berserker and Reaver for damage, though I suppose Champion and Templar still have their niches.

I'm so going spirit warrior with my dw warrior I knew that when I first heard of it

I think spirit warrior would work great with templar as both specs need willpower

The new specialization seems really nice, if perhaps a bit too powerful. Peon's Plight is very good, and it has a great animation too. What really interests me is Juggernaut, though, and it seems pretty neat!

Hmmm, now I'm trying to work through different spec combinations in my head. Also very tempted to drop Berserker for this, depending on how it works - Spirit Warrior/Templar/Champion seems like it could be rather effective.

Juggernaught -> 1h + shield
Sweeping Strike -> 2h-weapon

But where is the ability for a dual wield warrior?

Don't forget Final Blow for the Berserker. If you're going to be raising Willpower for Spirit Warrior abilities, Final Blow will do absurd damage. And with Death Blow, Final Blow shouldn't wind up dropping you to zero stamina. It'll still turn off Indomitable if you're a 2her, which sucks.

How can dwarves get spirit warrior if they have no connection to the fade?

How can a certain Sloth Demon drag your sorry dwarven ass into the fade? Plot hole, don't think to hard about it or you'll get a headache. Trust me on that.

I wouldn't worry about that; you can't use them in Origins after all and as Awakening will bring our Warden to "epic" levels, I'm sure we'll be facing equally epic creatures.

Allegedly, we do.

it's official now, we get a third specialization point at level 22 pc.ign.com/articles/107/1074969p1.html

assasin/duelist/shadow is too tempting

your assuming that it's only going to do 80-100,  don't dismiss something as useless until you try it out for yourself

this might not be the right thread, but getting that last spec point at 22 doesn't make much sense to me. we can hit that high in Origins, and I don't think they're gonna patch that into Origins. unless we get it automatically on transfer if we're high enough level, it seems kinda weird.

It actually reminds me of the old Phantasy Star series on the Sega Master System and Genesis--in the original Phantasy Star, magic required inborn ability to use, but between that game and its sequel, the first game's "mage" companion developed a simplified form of magic dubbed techniques that anyone could use, and they had in fact become widespread by Phantasy Star 2 (and in Phantasy Star 4, directly coexisted, with one of the characters being able to use both techniques and true magic as separate systems).

Also, the specialization stat boosts seem weird. I'd think it'd be a case of boosting Willpower and Mental Resistance (or perhaps Willpower or Magic and Stamina +10, or something like that), not Constitution and Physical Resistance.

Haven't played that one, but it is making me think of the distinction between wizards and sorcerors in D&D. Alternatively, between channelers that can become wilders and those that need to be taught in WoT (in fact, the Templar/Mage relationship can be seen as an analogue to the sul'dam/damane relationship in that series).
