It's mostly because Bioware has hyped Thane as THE female romance; he's on the cover, they specifically designed him to appeal to women, he has the whole 'tragic love' vibe (...and then everyone liked Garrus better anyway. But that's neither here nor there). The most significant difference between male and female Shepard is the romances; combine these two items with the power of ~LOGIC~, and there ya go. It is jumping to conclusions a bit, but it's not totally out of left field. And that's all speculation really is, anyway.Suron wrote...
yah cause an obscure post on twitter about female chars liking a DLC mission just SCREAMS Thane right?
amirite?
it could mean anything....personally I like Garrus better then Thane....so I can twist it just like you and say it's related to Garrus.
Or I like Kaiden...and can twist it like you to say it MUST be Kaiden related..
etc..etc..etc.
cool little splurge to start speculation but....how in the hell can you point it towards any particular character???
oh that's right..you can't.

The DLC in question replaces Jennifer Hale with Mark Meer doing a falsetto.
Now EVERYBODY can enjoy the canonical Shepard, no matter which gender they play as!

This excites me, but I doubt it will be a cure for Thane. That's something huge, so it would be a serious kick in the stomach to the female players who don't/can't connect their 360s to the internet.
Agreed. But if this is the only shot at it, then it's better than nothing.

Everything comes at a price. Especially the cure will come at a price. A heavy one.Sikayda wrote...

Indeed, and following that thinking we'd never get any major content as DLC - just meaningless side missions and such.
I think it's better to hope for some awesome ME2 to ME3 bridging DLC and hope those folks who are unable to connect now, can at some point in the future!
But I still say it'll be one part of a larger DLC pack. >.>

What really confuses me is that she states it will make FemSheps happy. Not ManShep. Not both. Why would BioWare release DLC content that favors one Shepard? Perhaps this content does offer content for both Shepards, but she specifically mentioned FemSheps because she plays one.
This is actually what I've been thinking all along, to a point.
I'm of the opinion it's something that either expands on or focuses on the LI's for both genders, and she just happens to play a femShep, so she mentioned femShep. We need a mission where the romance between Shepard and whoever actually reflects in dialogue and reactions to being smashed under rubble and things matters.

I loathe you.... you just made me remember that video where someone managed to have a femShepard model for the Tali Romance 'Sex?' Scene. Hearing Mark Meer's voice going "It's okay" booming out of a femShepard gave me nightmares for weeks.BobbyTheI wrote...

I still can't believe this, but you are correct! Even if most of us were very uncertain of his romanceability when he was announced last year.enormousmoonboots wrote...

I'm still not so sure about this DLC though. Maybe it really only involves shoes (...) or new casual clothes for FemShep. But that's pretty illogical, why would they create a DLC specifially for FemSheps? If this DLC is about Thane, then I'm very sure it'll be playable for MaleSheps as well. Maybe Ms. Norman simply thought that female players would be happier about this than guys?

Well if they make some substantial bridging DLC its likely they would release it on disc eventually. Assuming they produce enough to make it worth releasing it on a disc that is. A lot of companies do that now anyway.

Or maybe it's about Jacob. A newly added minigame that lets you have drinkin' contests on the citadel. Button mashing included.

If it is about Jacob and making femSheps happy it is probably new VA work to get rid of the horribly sleazy come ons when just trying to have a chat with him.

That's sort of what I was thinking too. I really doubt BioWare would make an expansion/DLC for just one gender.Maera Imrov wrote...

Anyway, with the whole "expanding or focusing on LIs" idea, perhaps a new romance scene could be involved? I don't know about anyone else, but to me it certainly seemed like the MShep scenes went a lot... further than a majority of the FemShep scenes.

Well, a cure for Thane is much more interesting than a shoe store on the Citadel, at least.

Edit: I don't think what she is saying that male shep's wouldn't get anything out of it but a lot of female Shepard players having been wanting a cure for Thane. So it would be something that would interest them more then maybe people who play male Shepard. But that's alright isn't it? I mean, that's what optional DLC's are for. I mean, the example that comes to my mind is Oblivion. I didn't buy the DLC's for that game that were rewards for "vampires" or evil characters because I never play evil characters and had no intention of making my character turn into a vampire.
I think it's better to release targeted DLC's that are relatively cheap, easy to make and maybe small then a DLC that appeals to all and sundry. At least that's my feeling.

This.
*prays to the Bioware gods*
I was so confused the first time my FemShep talked to him on the Normandy, because I was pretty sure that I didn't pick any of the romantic options so I couldn't understand why she was talking like that
My FemShep only has eyes for Liara so having My character act like that without even been given an choice really put me out of the role playing experience. After that I never talked or had the guy in my party I couldn't stand it >.<

I wish.
But, she did say that this was a mission, not just a patch. A patch COULD be included with the DLC, but I doubt that is what she is referring to.

Ha, true. But they've made so many threads about Tali! I just don't understand why the devs would make a DLC specifically for Thane. He's only one character out of 10. Argh, I just can't be optimistic today!Tamyn wrote...
