You guys are all on the wrong track.
The DLC in question replaces Jennifer Hale with Mark Meer doing a falsetto.
Now EVERYBODY can enjoy the canonical Shepard, no matter which gender they play as!

It's mostly because Bioware has hyped Thane as THE female romance; he's on the cover, they specifically designed him to appeal to women, he has the whole 'tragic love' vibe (...and then everyone liked Garrus better anyway. But that's neither here nor there).
Well as a female gamer I have to say that in the beginning I made a beeline for Garrus because I had my eye on him since ME1 but the interaction with Garrus game out rather... awkward. But Thane! Wow! It did feel like they had made him an actual romance, while Garrus was more friends with benefits. I still like Garrus though. He's just fun to have around. "Scooped and dropped!" tell me who has a better in-battle phase then that!

Thanks for pointing that out, I always get confused when a forumite [Suron] writes a response like that, >.>enormousmoonboots wrote...

But that's neither here nor there). The most significant difference between male and female Shepard is the romances; combine these two items with the power of ~LOGIC~, and there ya go. It is jumping to conclusions a bit, but it's not totally out of left field. And that's all speculation really is, anyway.Suron wrote...
yah cause an obscure post on twitter about female chars liking a DLC mission just SCREAMS Thane right?
amirite?
it could mean anything....personally I like Garrus better then Thane....so I can twist it just like you and say it's related to Garrus.
Or I like Kaiden...and can twist it like you to say it MUST be Kaiden related..
etc..etc..etc.
cool little splurge to start speculation but....how in the hell can you point it towards any particular character???
oh that's right..you can't.

Ha, true. But they've made so many threads about Tali! I just don't understand why the devs would make a DLC specifically for Thane. He's only one character out of 10. Argh, I just can't be optimistic today!Tamyn wrote...
Well, I don't see any MaleSheps making five 80+ page threads about loving Thane... ;P
I think they're trying to keep some vague semblance of game time and real time, and Thane just happens to be the nearest stated deadline.
Either that or Kasumi really is the F/F love interest.

Xeyska: What inspired the creation of the Drell species?
CaseyH-ME2:
The creation of the Drell happened as part of coming up with a new love
interest that would be a male alien. We knew he'd be a stealthy
assassin, and would have to be attractive, so that presented a lot of
challenge to the art team. In the end, we created a look that worked
for Thane, but also became the basis for other Drell that you'll see in
the ME universe.

I am particularly interested in seeing the Drell homeworld of Rakhana, or maybe the Hanar world Kahje.
Hmm, I am no femshep but I do really want to cure Thane and liberate the Drell species from their dying world and their Hanar oppressors.

While she may be, I don't see how that will make femSheps 'very, very happy'. That seems something a good deal more specific to personal taste in LI, instead of something that has a potential to be more overarching. Which is, incidentally, why I'm not sold on it being Thane-specific, either. Not every femShep player likes Thane. Not all of them like Garrus. Or Jacob. The wording was too vague for me to really be sold on the idea that it pertains to any character specifically.
I do agree, though, that Thane is the nearest to his deadline, and will need to be addressed rather soon, if ME3 takes place more than 3-4 months after ME2. He has only 8-12 months to live, and while I'm not sure exactly how long ME2 covers, I doubt he will be fighting fit in the final month or two of his life, either, so the window is narrowing.

Not sure why everyone assumes it must be about an LI anyway. Personally a DLC that gave me a dance other than that insipid old man shuffle would make me very happy.

That's just what they want from the trailer.

You mean the tv spot for the DLC? That is rather small for a trailer.

I agree. I don't think that she means a lesbian romance of any sort, instead probably something to do with existing romances. Unless there is some complication involving Garrus' romance (is there?) I imagine it's just DLC that involves curing Thane. I guess it could be something to do with Kaidan but one would think anything involving Kaidan would also involve Ashley.Maera Imrov wrote...

Female gamer here, too. I thought I would like Thane (he has a nice smile), but his flashbacks creeped me out, and I was bewildered by his morals (so you're not in control of what you do...except when it's morally convenient? Cool story, bro. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be justification to himself over all those years of assassinating or not, but since he resists all attempts to call him out on it, I'd guess not). I didn't find the Garrus relationship to be FWB-like at all; the dude clearly cares about FemShep, and he's plainly heartbroken if you reject him in the final scene.Tinnic wrote...

Well, a lot of people have expressed interest in fixing Garrus' armor, but that isn't LI-related. It would certainly make ManSheps just as pleased as FemSheps, so I don't think that's it.

What really confuses me is that she states it will make FemSheps happy. Not ManShep. Not both. Why would BioWare release DLC content that favors one Shepard? Perhaps this DLC does offer equal content for both Shepards, but she specifically mentioned FemSheps because she plays one.
This is close to what i am thinking, She played a mission that would make femsheps happy, so there is probably content that would make malesheps happy she just did not comment on it or has not played through those missions as a maleshep yet.

Seriously though just because she said it'll make FemShep players happy for whatever reason doesn't exclude ManShep.

I agree with you that it is a tall order. I totally understand all previous BW DLC has been terribad. But I feel like, the introduction of Cerberus, and that ME2 was designed from the ground-up to accomodate episodic DLC, that this clearly indicates that BW is ready to make full-fidelity DLC.
I don't think there is any technical limitation to large DLC. Awakening is introducing ~15 hours of content 5.5 months after DAO launched. I'm sure I sound naively optimistic, but I also feel like BW is making it painfully obvious that they are upping the ante for DLC. They have sunk a lot of resources into Cerberus Network and they don't sink resources into anything that isn't a carefully designed business model.

The thing that's supposed to make FemShep players happy is that this is the first time a BioWare developer has acknowledged the existance of FemShep since ME1.
Something I noticed though, seemingly ALL of the screenshots in the Prima Guide are of a Femshep
