I feel like BioWare is investing in Thane heavily.

The one problem that presented itself to the Community was the presence of Thane's illness, I can't think of any other issue that would "make femshep players very very happy", that is to say, exclusively femshep players

I have to say that I am a little disappointed at this.  Thane in my opinion is far from the most interesting squadmate and also not a great love interest to me either.  Bioware should not invest so heavily in one squadmate when there are so many other areas they could focus on that would affect the game or story overall.

That wouldn't make anybody happy.

We already have Garrus.

Oh, with "male LIs", I meant Kaidan, Garrus, Jacob, and Thane!
oooh.

Since, as you said, Ms. Norman mentioned FemShep players specifically. It just has to have something to do with romances or clothes though, why else would FemShep get mentioned like this?
Nah, actually it was stupid for me to say clothes. It's almost certainly something to do with a romance for femsheps.

Pft it's not like men don't love clothes shopping too. Don't deny it, I've seen it!

This makes sense. I thought seeing Thane on the cover and then finding out he is going to be dead in 8 months gave me a weird feeling especially after it wasn't resolved...kept telling myself "no way is he dying, by the end of the game (likely his loyalty mission) we'll find a cure". Perhaps it was Bioware's plan to make Thane beloved, then threaten death on him, then release the cure so we can all exhale.

It fits the ticket, I mean... the only problem I see is fitting it in with the lore. How do you cure one fan favorite from a disease that effects many drell and that has many hanhar scientists stumped on how to cure it? As for the rest though...

Thane is a major LI and fan favorite, a cutscene and mission curing him won't take up lots and lots of gigabytes that say a major femshep LI alteration would, it'd be a long the same lines that BW stated its ME2 DLC would help lead into ME3, and... yeah. Very likely it could turn out like this.

Still, never can tell with Bioware...

I'm not arguing with anyone.  I am just going by what chatter I have seen in the forums here.  Of course there is exceptions, but the general idea that I have percieved is that the girl gamers don't seem to be satisfied with current male squad LI's in ME2.

Oh ok, well that hasn't been what I have been mostly reading around here.

I rather like the maturely confident, silver-smooth, strength-in-sensitivity gentleman types who can make an art out of a headshot or precision jugular strike and not think twice about it. That and hot-as-hell voice doesn't hurt. But your mileage may vary -- that's why we have as many different romances as we do.

I'd be careful what you read around here as a rule. Sometimes there are good ideas. The rest of the time there is Tali Poop Hips and Black Transgendered Jack.

It's mostly because Bioware has hyped Thane as THE female romance; he's on the cover, they specifically designed him to appeal to women, he has the whole 'tragic love' vibe (...and then everyone liked Garrus better anyway. But that's neither here nor there).

Well as a female gamer I have to say that in the beginning I made a beeline for Garrus because I had my eye on him since ME1 but the interaction with Garrus game out rather... awkward. But Thane! Wow! It did feel like they had made him an actual romance, while Garrus was more friends with benefits. I still like Garrus though. He's just fun to have around. "Scooped and dropped!" tell me who has a better in-battle phase then that!

Female gamer here, too. I thought I would like Thane (he has a nice smile), but his flashbacks creeped me out, and I was bewildered by his morals (so you're not in control of what you do...except when it's morally convenient? Cool story, bro. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be justification to himself over all those years of assassinating or not, but since he resists all attempts to call him out on it, I'd guess not). I didn't find the Garrus relationship to be FWB-like at all; the dude clearly cares about FemShep, and he's plainly heartbroken if you reject him in the final scene.

I did like Garrus's final romance scene before Omaga relay (saw it on YouTube). But I was more put off by the conversations I had to have with Garrus before that happened. Which was sad because I was so looking forward to Garrus finally being a romance option! :(

I can totally understand not everybody going gaga over Thane. He is an assassin afterall.

The thing about any Thane DLC is that they're just going to complicate matters further for any appearance of his in ME3.

For him to be in ME3, not only will you have had to have kept him alive during the suicide mission, you will have had to have downloaded and played the DLC.

But hey if BioWare want to add even more unecesarry headaches for the next game, whatever.

Kal'Reegar romance.

AHH! Yes, that must be it! Well, I can't deny that that would make me happy... somehow. *gets slapped with a fish*

N-no, that can't be it. Kal'Reegar can die during Tali's recruitment mission, after all. It must involve Thane. It must. Argh, now I'm optimistic. Great. Somebody slap the optimism out of me!

Seems they are plenty of female players who disagree.

Bioware put a lot of work into all of the characters, there's nothing wrong with them doing this. I don't think they're going to create a character specifically as an LI like they did with Thane and then just throw him away by him dying of a sickness. They could easily make the DLC a mission that has combat and all that as well as the bonus of curing Thane.

it does sound really hard to believe that they would make extensive DLC that anyone who didn't save Thane couldn't use. that would lead to 100 page threads of whinespam.

I wouldn't mind that, actually. I think batarians are adorable. Especially when they call you a blight and point in a dramatic fashion.

That's a good point. But I don't see much else that could specifically please female players aside from something to do with the romances, as that is literally the only thing different between male and female shepard.

Bioware has already done that. The majority of the game is "unneccesary" to begin with, it's a top knotch game.

So what possible mission could make FemShep players happy? I'm soo confused by this and you are right by saying it will make 1 demographic happy you are asking for whinespam from MaleShep players like me who would be really jealous.

People will whine no matter what. So that's hardly a reason to do something or not do something.

Yeah I hear you.  Well I know what I want concerning LI's and it isn't in ME2.  Jack, too much baggage and tatoos.  Tali (too alien) and too much trouble with infection/antibiotics.  Miranda works for Cerberus don't trust her.

Mr. Dollar, I'd like to point you to the Neck Snap Appreciation Society group here. :P

Thane was received very well by a large number of female (and male, straight or otherwise) gamers. We just don't talk as much outside the groups, as the disgruntled cries of 'emo, Carth, etc' get tiresome. Because a man showing any emotion other than humor or badass-ery is totally emo, didn't you know? I pay very little attention to the threads outside the NSAS anymore, unless it's something of particular interest, as this particular topic is.

The only LI that didn't seem to go over well from what I've read was poor Jacob, and that's not because he was so very bad, but more because he was kind of fade-into-the-wall bland.

I know what you mean. I'm hoping FemShep's will finally be able to choose Kelly's hairstyle. It would make me instantly start a FemShep playthrough cuz I dislike just about every other custom hairstyle even for MaleShep.
