You cant kill the Arl. The only way Bann Teagan will became the Arl of Redcliffe is if Alistair becomes King so that Eamon will go and advise him, and then have Teagan become the new arl.

There has been a claim of killing Bhelen out of combat by using Flame Blast, Cone of Cold, & Shock in this order using a mage with very high Magic. However, the game will not recognize this and cause the Quest to break, if you have chosen to do the Bhelen's deed's line - since you cannot return your quest to a dead person who also dropped loot.AzraelKane wrote...

You could try it with the Arl if you wish.

Sacrifice Isolde and give the kid to the demon. And Eamon will die.

Sadly, but you can take solace in killing Connor and knowing that Isolde will die later in the epilogue. >
O.O
So I'd feel terrible killing a kid. But getting to punch out Isolde, AND killing her in the epilogue?! Connor, you got a big red target on your back now. Nothing personal

Have you played this out already? Eamon dies right away or at endgame? If so, I would like to try it but want to do it correctly. Please explain exactly how its done again.

You are a mage
You go into redcliffe castle through the mill
Leave Jowan in his cell
Let Isolde bring him up when you are discussing how to deal with connor
Let Jowan perform the ritual and you enter the fade
When the demon talks to you make a deal with it dont kill it. I recommend the tome.

Ive done everything you can with the demon- pleasure, love of party member, blood majik, give connor to her, etc... maybe im missing something, but every time i return from the fade, i still am forced to follow the ashes quest to save the damned Arl to continue to the landsmeetall the more reason for me to want him dead!!!!! Maybe the new expansion will make it possible to polay white grey or dark characters more fully
Eamon is immune in-game to death. You need him for the Landsmeet, though it looks like people here report he can die in the epilogue if you really screw him over. I was of two minds on Arl Eamon, which probably had to do with the character I was RPing. My human mage thought he was a jerk--a necessary, politically connected and savvy jerk who really did care about his people and country, but an ass who saw her beloved Alistair as nothing but a pawn.
And personally, I think for all its advertising as "dark" and "gritty," DA:O has surprisingly few difficult or murky moral decisions. Most of them are towards the endgame. In 60 hours of gameplay in DA:O, I found myself saying "hmm" at just three decisions: Bhelen and Harrowmont, for a PC with no connections to Orzammar, the Landsmeet, and Morrigan's ritual. The bulk of the choices in DA:O have a clear-cut "good" and "jerkass" choice, with maybe one or two more in between if you're lucky. Not to say that the "jerkass" choices like leaving Redcliffe to burn can't be JUSTIFIED, but they're distinctly less good on a standard sliding moral scale.
I still think Obsidian does twisted grey morality better. Just look at the difference between KOTOR and KOTOR2. In KOTOR, evil felt just plain thuggish for a lot of the game. In KOTOR2, the differences could be very subtle, probably due to Kreia, who's one of my favorite video game characters ever.

KotoR (1&2) = video games, developed by Obsidian
I think the poster only meant to compare, Obsidian and/or KotOR have nothing to do with DA:O

Kotor 1 is Bioware
Kotor 2 is Obsidian
Obsidian is the "child" of Black Isle (game publisher that worked with Bioware on Baldur's Gate 1-2 devel;oped IWD 1-2 using the Bioware engine)
