You have to recruit the First Four (Jack, Garrus, Grunt and Mordin) in order to enable Horizon.Dark_Caduceus wrote...
I edited the hex file so that I could recruit Tali,Samara, Thane etc... early. But now Horizon won't activate,I've recruited seven characters including DLC ones, except I haven't recruited Jack, what should I do?
If you want Horizon to activate, do the next step in the guide (Step 2). IoCaster found an easier way to change that digit though. Just go to your Gibbed Save Game Editor and make sure "Miranda in alternate appearance" is unchecked and "Jacob in alternate appearance" is checked. This will actually set the hex block to 02 for you.
I really need to update this guide...
Correct.shengar wrote...
There is a part that i don't quite understand. I must change 01 to 00 (reaper iff cooldown) only if i already recruit Legion early not after we change the 00 to 03 part (assuming I don't recruit Legion already), correct?

I think someone a few pages back had the same exact problem. I was never able to figure out what was going on.shengar wrote...
Right now i'm recruited the original 4 + Legion and want to enable horizon. But, in attempt to disable the IFF from installing, i find 09 instead of 01 after 166 length away from the none.e area. And as for the Stop Collectors mission, i don't find 05 00 00 00 between 0A and 0B. Some enlightenment will very help me
EDIT: I managed it to work. After some little changes my game work flawlessly
Could you post up your solution when you get the chance?
Thanks.

Is there a difference perhaps between collector's and standard edition programming slightly? There's the whole "complete" version of Mass Effect advertising I'm still skeptical of. Might that be part of the tweaked programming?

In changing the 05 00 00 00 between those 0A and 0B, i'm just ignore the absence 05 then paste the code string you provided and it works. At first try, it somehow change the file size and make gibbed save editor crashed when i'm trying opened it. I try it again, and somehow it's work. Maybe it just some code differences because we played the game with different play through.

That part of the hex file deals with the "Stop the Collectors" in the mission log. I think it may vary depending on if you recruited Legion first (it immediately goes to the Reaper IFF installation in the log) or if you didn't. That would explain why it differs in some save files.shengar wrote...

The game keeps track of your mission progress by inserting the next number (say, 05) next to its rank in the mission log.

the difference between standard and collector is just the bonus content ,isn't? Could that make a differences in quest code area?Jonathan Shepard wrote...

Not really. There might be a slight difference in quest code area depending on which mission DLCs you've downloaded, but for now it seems that the "Stop the Collectors" mission is still between 0A and 0B as described.shengar wrote...

Have you been able to simplify this whole process at all much?
I noticed this segment in Coalesced.ini that I was thinking might be tied into this whole process.
[SFXGame.SFXPawn_Henchman]
HenchmenInfo=(className=SFXPawn_Garrus,Tag=hench_garrus,PrettyName=178197,HenchAcquiredPlotID=38,HenchInSquadPlotID=26,HenchmanImage="GUI_Codex_Images.Garrus_512")

HenchmenInfo=(className=SFXPawn_Jack,Tag=hench_convict,PrettyName=178196,HenchAcquiredPlotID=35,HenchInSquadPlotID=23,HenchmanImage="GUI_Codex_Images.Jack_512")

HenchmenInfo=(className=SFXPawn_Mordin,Tag=hench_professor,PrettyName=178202,HenchAcquiredPlotID=41,HenchInSquadPlotID=29,HenchmanImage="GUI_Codex_Images.Mordin_512")

HenchmenInfo=(className=SFXPawn_Tali,Tag=hench_tali,PrettyName=178203,HenchAcquiredPlotID=40,HenchInSquadPlotID=28,HenchmanImage="GUI_Codex_Images.Tali_512")
HenchmenInfo=(className=SFXPawn_Thane,Tag=hench_assassin,PrettyName=178195,HenchAcquiredPlotID=39,HenchInSquadPlotID=27,HenchmanImage="GUI_Codex_Images.Thane_512")
HenchmenInfo=(className=SFXPawn_Wilson,Tag=hench_wilson,PrettyName=184185)
Now it strikes me that if we can map the PlotID's (I've checked theres nothing in the INI relating to any kind of plot id legend) then we can unlock these henchmen at an earlier point, without effecting the continuity maybe.
Not sure if you have tried this before, just thought I'd put the query out there.
EDIT: Also just for interest sake, if we can map these plot ID's then we can change them with console commands, there is a command called SetBoolByID, it accepts PlotID reference with true or false. So we may be able to do this on the fly.

Some of IoCaster's work has simplified it -- it's just that I haven't had the time to sift through and edit my earlier posts to conform to it.Azureum wrote...

Apart from the Reaper IFF disable/enable hex editing, everything else can now be done in the Save Editor, I believe.

If you can find its plot id, then maybe, just maybe we can do that the way I mentioned.

Notice the section in Coalesced.ini of:
[SFXGame.BioSFHandler_PartySelection]
In there it has unique identifiers called labels, just as an example:
IsSelectableGeth, which refers to Legion being a selectable party member.
Now get this nifty console command:
SetBoolByName IsSelectableGeth True
Guess what that does, thats right, makes Legion selectable from party select screen.
This is what I tested so far, I used it to get him available, and curiously the stop the collectors state is still on build a team, his dossier does not appear as done either.
I played a mission and got garrus, then suddenly legions loyalty mission became available, once Id done that I had a fully loyal legion. Still no change to legion dossier or stop the collector state. Now whether or not this changes once Ive got the original dossiers completed and whether or not horizon will load up, I'm not sure because thats as far as I tested.
Still, go me

It's easier to unlock all the characters from the beginning of the game, but it violates the story.
The goal I'm trying to accomplish is to set the conditions of what Mass Effect 2 would be like if it was a PC-only game (without the X-Box disc split forcing the linear progression).

But anyways this is an alternative method that thus far, does NOT effect storyline seemingly, allowing you to use whatever characters you wish in your squad, so far even make them loyal as well, with seemingly no effects to the main story.
I hope you succeed
PS: Sorry for breaking the page there lol

I don't see how you are going to get everyone available AND have story continuity since the plot and the cutscenes/movies are set up in such a way to stop that.

You're right, the cutscenes themselves don't make any sense, even with the hex edits. The only way I can justify recruiting Legion early is the hex edit for disabling/enabling the Reaper IFF -- as in, I'm forcing Shepard to have the ability to choose when the Reaper IFF gets instead.

For example:
SetBoolByName KnowExistGrunt True
That way it SHOULD in theory give you the dossier, not sure on how the game will react to horizon and such however.
EDIT: Scratch that. it doesn't work as it wont give you the dossier.
At least we can now give ourselves any squad member from the point of first being able to select a squad.

You can enable the dossiers by hex editing the save file too, but it doesn't unlock the planets on the galaxy map. There's some other trigger for that, apparently. Unlocking everything causes Shepard to learn Retrain Powers upon logging in, so that ability might have something to do with it.Azureum wrote...
Wait, adjust my command then, instead of getting them inparty, could you just not have them known and get the same effect?
For example:
SetBoolByName KnowExistGrunt True

Also, I hope we get to the next page soon, because I've never seen a thread break this much from code.
