And I was wondering if there was a beginners guide somewhere?

I've been doing soldier and upgradeing charm, health, and armor...

and using tali, and (the alien police guy from citadel)

I just finished feldor, but I just managed to scrape buy on that one, had no med pacs left after that!

I just wanted an idea on how each character worked, Besides the first aid I use and the first aid upgrades to armor, that seems about it(in terms of healing abilities, also notice the first aid skills on my companions that they don't seem to use!)

I'm just having such a hard time, and constantly struggling at places..

and I notice when I tell my companions to go to cover i usually get (I can't get over there!)
Or they have some kind of weird seizure when trying to hide behind a wall at times...

Ok, I wouldn't allocate more than 8 of your skill points to conversation as you can get 4 for free (one from spectre training and 3 from maxxing either the paragon or renegade bar). You will want one of your techie squad members (Tali, Garus or Kaiden) to have 9 points in decryption and electronics. This will give you the ability to open all of the locked objects as well as giving master sabotage and overload.

You shouldn't take armor past 7 or 8 points for heavy armor (7) or advanced shield boost (8) Max out assault training and fitness. Fitness (which grants immunity) is basicly an I win button. At higher levels, with the right equipment it can be kept up pretty much all the time.

All the points your squad has in first aid stack, for purposes of the amount healed per medigel. So if Tali had 6 and you had 2 and Garus had 5 you'd get healing for a total of 13 points worth of skill more or less.

It would also help to get 4 points into spectre skill. This unlocks unity which can be used to revive fallen squad mates in battle. This is a quite useful ability early on, especially since a low level Tali/Garus squad tends to be a bit squishy. Especially early on I'd probably swap Garus for Wrex (krogan)

As for leveling up Tali I''d concentrate on electronics(9), quarian machinist(6), and decryption(9). Electronics and quarian machinist go quite a ways to make her more survivable. With 6 in quarian machinist and 9 in electronics she'll have an extra 390 to shields I'd also get at least 3 points into her armor skill to pick up basic shield boost. After that I'd focus on pistol to 6 to unlock shotgun, then max shotgun and AI hacking to 12

I've always found Garus to be a bit squishy early on (at least until you get him into some decent medium armor) He and Tali pretty much cover the same skill sets as far as tech skills go. Once you get his turian agent, sniper rifle and assault training maxxed out he is a beast with a sniper rifle though.

But until you get to higher level (unless you're trying for squadie acheivments) consider swapping him for Wrex.

You could also swap him out for Kaiden or Liara.  Spec them for biotic crowd control.  With enough crowd control you never get shot..

Actively use your parties skills on the enemies (I generally set their AI to defensive), so that their powers are there when you want them.

I don't sappose there is a way to redo my skills?

I kind of went all the way to the end of armor, and stuff like that.... I also went really far into spectre..

(I had in mind to make my character to take alot of damage, I may of had the wrong mind set for this game, use to alot of dragons age xD)

Fitness I didn't do at all, as I didn't look to far into the tree to see immunity

>.<

That's Ok. It's not really set in stone. As far as spectre goes that was just an early recomendation. It's not a bad skill for a soldier to have more points in. There is enough flexibiltiy in the class to allow for several decent builds. What level are you currently at, and is it your first play through.

It is my first, Currently landed on a planted to deal with some bionic cult!

Level 20, and wow I didn't even realise I was that high...

Trying to take a screen shot of my build at the moment!

*edit*

Doesn't seem to be any key command for screen shots in the settings, may not be able too xD

You might take a look at these.

http://masseffect.wi...rd_class_Builds

Note that these are mostly 3 playthrough level 60 builds This can give you  the conversation skill to 12 for free . They are just a good way to decide where you might want to go with your build.

On your first play through you can go to level 50. I wouldn't worry to much about an optimal build, just enjoy the game. There is always another play through to worry about optimization. If you do a fairly complete play through you'll hit 50. That still leaves you around 45 points to distribute.

The skill points for Shepard are

1-5 3
6-35 2
36-60 1

Ok, just do a google search for the mass effect wiki.  Then search there for gold standards builds.

I'm guessing these command/shock trooper things are something later in the game.

Yeah, now that you're level 20 you should be getting a message from Admiral Hacket about a mission on Luna about a rogue vi.

At the end of that mission you get to choose a specialization

Ah, Alright.

I did manage to take a screen shot, but unfortunately it comes up as some wierd bitmap file, and I can't open it with anything, even paint.

I really wanted to put it up here to give a better idea :pinched:

Leaf, the following website is EXACTLY what you're looking for:

http://masseffect.wi...ass_Effect_Wiki

Be sure to check the Assignments page. You may also need to have a look at the skills, levels, etc, as well as the character pages.

Other than that, good luck. Enjoy Mass Effect. Great game all around! ;)

I'd start putting points into assault training and fitness until you've maxed out both giving priority to fitness once you've got it unlocked. Then I'd focus on assault rifle to 7 to unlock sniper. I'd take commando as the bonus class. That will give you a really solid damage output with the ability to perform back to back assassination with the sniper through the use of adrenaline burst(from assault training.) It also gives you a solid all around weapon from Assault rifle.

Overall the way you've built isn't bad and is a good place to continue along this path.

My bad, lol!

No problem. Just be sure not to confuse ME 1 stuff with ME 2 on there, although everything is pretty much well-organized and that's unlikely to happen. But just in case.

Don't put more than 1 point into first aid.
Your allies AI isn't very good so either move them to cover yourself or count them out.
Pick one weapon you use most and boost it. Don't spread your points. Second weapon you train up should be the shotgun. This goes for your allies as well.
You want to put many points into charm/intimidate to get more conversation options. Don't fill the bar, leave 1 block unchecked as you sometimes get a free spectre block.
Train Garrus/Tali into high electronics/decryption fast and always bring one of them on missions so they can unlock everything.
Wrex/Ashley are tanks. Train them up to soak up damage. Wrex is much more powerful than Ashley.
Liara can be incredibly useful if you don't have biotics. Biotics = crowd control. Lift/Singularity is great. Throw is great against Krogan in a pinch. Kaidan is sucky compared with Liara.
Wrex/Ashley should have hardening mods,
The rest should focus on shields. When you have only 1 mod option for armor fit first aid mods so they can heal. Then add shield extenders when you get a 2nd mod option.
As mentioned before, set AI skill use to defensive and use their skills !

Would I really need sniper?

I kinda of already started garrus into that xD

I actually was using the first aid mods, so I did something right :P

and I don't have a "liara" yet, unless I missed her in citadel.

and I guess I could trade garrus or tali out, but I really like their looks ^.^

even though tali's face is covered..

Liara T'Soni isn't at Citadel. You get her on one of the main quests (named "Find Liara T'Soni" not surprisingly...) Udina/Anderson sic you at.

You've got what min-maxers would called wasted points on that build. But once you get the hang of combat it won't matter if you're on normal difficulty (it will get very easy once you figure it out).

Get Fitness. Invest all your points into getting to at least Improved Immunity. It will be your godling power. Once you reach Master Immunity and can spam it, you are virtually invulnerable.

For your first game, don't worry about sniper rifle. It's also not that effective when team mates use it (they aren't very good with it). Definitely get Assault rifle up to Improved Overkill soon to. Then you should be able to blast away effectively and be almost unkillable with Immunity.

If you've gotten used to the 'pause' command dynamics. I highly recommend turning squad AI to defense powers only. Then you can order them to use their powers on the right targets. That's in the gameplay options I think.

Good to know, Can't get a higher difficulty over veteran any how :o

I often wonder why mass effect and dragon's age never got a respec option myself.

What is an ugly shepard any how(in your sig)?

Woo! I beat the game!

Saren's "final form" was a bit of a joke "throw" "lift" "portal thing that's kind of like lift"

"damage over time effect" Uh oh everyone has cool downs! *stasis*

While me and tali emptied many abilities and ammo into him, muahaha!

Also the build ideas worked wonders! (except for the occasional lol rocket) I never once came close to dieing. Almost felt like cheating! xD

Wonder if I unlocked new difficulties yet!

This game was fun ^.^

Yes it is fun.

Working on my tenth playthrough now.

However I think 4 points in spectre training is enough.

Also let your squadmates put points into first aid, it's a waste of talent points for yourself.
