So, Femshep's romances. A lot of people toss around claims that Thane is more popular with women, Garrus is more popular with men, nobody likes Jacob, Kelly/Liara is lesbian fanservice for dudes, so on, and so forth. I'd like to settle those arguments with cold, hard numbers. I'm interested in responses from both male and female players who've done a Femshep run.

I know you've probably got multiple characters, but tell me your favorite here. For science!

Can already guarantee you that no one likes Jacob as a romance. As for Garrus versus Thane, I'm going to guess that Garrus is more popular. EDIT: Changed a line.

I'd bet that Garrus is the most popular.

If I played femshep, I'd go with Kaidan, then Garrus, then Jacob in that order. Too bad how femshep sounds when she's talking to Jacob. I don't like Thane's metaphysical views so I'm not sure I could stomach the romance.

I know allot of women that romanced jacob. majority just wanted to see his shirt off. if you have seen the jacob sex scene then you will understand why they would want jacob. and not because of his personality. yeah women like sexy men just as much as men like sexy women, dont you ****ing dare say only men go for the looks. that is just being sexist and a hipocrite... why am i angry?

I don't think the results will be THAT accurate. :P I believe BioWare is keeping tabs on how many players romance each LI. I doubt they'll ever release that information, but it would be neat.

I tried to stay true to Kaidan because I think Shepard goes better with him, but me personally, well, I'm in love with Thane. He's just sexy.

I love Garrus too and if his romance wasn't so...awkward, I'd have went for him. But yeah, Thane has won me over because he's older, has a sexy voice, and for some reason I really want to see him with his shirt off lol, forget Jacob's abs, I'm pretty sure thane's got it going on under the getup. :P

I'm a FemShep who stayed faithful to Kaidan, but if Kaidan wasn't in the mix I'd have romanced Thane. His story is emo, but a little melodrama is fun. Garrus is my Shepard's best buddy. I adore him, but wouldn't want to change the relationship And the Jacob option comes off as a little sleazy.

(As a straight woman, I don't have much interest in pursuing Liara or Kelly. Liara I like as a character and friend to my Shep, but Kelly is a dimwit who infected the ship with Scale Rot. Come on, you all know it was her...)

Why did BioWare have to put in that line? Bad images, bad. :wizard:

I'm curious as to why you think she's a dimwitted. I never talked to her beyond asking if there were any squad mates who wanted to talk to shepard.

Yeah, I think Jacob appealed to the more (and I hate myself for using the word, but) casual ME2 players that were repulsed by the idea of romancing an alien. Those people, however, are unlikely to be on these forums.

It is interesting that the female romances are 2/3 alien while the male ones are only 1/3. Bioware expecting women to care less about looks (which, as Snowraptor points out, is no more accurate than it is for men)? Or they just didn't want to make another female alien?

Women don't like other women who are ****ty.

I don't care much for Kelly either.  She's...well...a ****.

Somehow I don't think that female players who play ME2 are largely in the casual category. But I wouldn't know.

Thane was engineered to be a romance interest for females from the start so I could see female players overlooking his alien appearance if that was even a problem for them.

As for female aliens...I would wager that it probably has something to do with resources, yes. But in the entire scope of things, male romance interests for female players are half human and half alien.

I think it's got more to do with what characters they already had present.

Frankly my mileage on Jack's humanity varies.

I dunno who would have a problem with Thane's looks.  His eyes are a little creepy at times, but otherwise he looks like a pretty frog boy with lady lips...hmm, yeah I guess that's kinda weird lol.

I've personally had a Turian fetish since the first game but I think I'm a secret furry, so yeah...Image IPB

The female aliens are just amusing to me because they all have boobez...I mean at least we females got some really diverse aliens...even if Tali has a dragon face, she still has boobs, kinda ridiculous.Image IPB

I think she's a dimwit because her responses to every new crew member are so childishly simplistic.  Garrus needs a hug.  Thane is a sexy bad-boy.  Jack is scary.  She undermines the depth the writers have made such effort to infuse each character with.  She's supposed to have a degree in psychology and that's the best she can come up with?

Plus she won't stop telling me I have new unread messages AFTER I have just checked and read all my messages. <_<

Female gamer I always pick Liara as my LI, I really did fall for her in ME1 she was sweet, cute, and was/is willing to go to the ends of the universe for you (even if you didn't romance her) I didn't hear about any of the other romance options doing that for Shep. So she always has an 1up to me in that regards.

Bioware just hasn't made an male LI in the Mass Effect series that has made me feel the same way about them as I do about Liara, which is a shame because I totally loved Alistair so I know they can do it.

A lot of people who aren't big into the sci-fi genre in general can't wrap their brains around romancing aliens at all, though. Hell, I've seen a thread or two along those lines on this very board. And keep in mind that the devs didn't expect Tali to get popular as a possible romance because of her 'chicken legs'.
