Its not like Tali wasn't gonna figure out there was an AI onboard.  This is alot better then Miranda betraying the Illusive Man after he relocates her sister.  Or Garus and Legion walking around in armor that doesn't fully protect them anymore.

Liara, whether I'm male or female. Definitely not Jacob. Thane and Garrus both seem tolerable as LIs and I like Kaiden, but really, it takes an effort of will to romance anyone but Liara.

Liara's devotion-bordering-on-madness makes her really fascinating in ME2.  She was OK in ME1, better than Kaiden anyway.

The only other good female romance option was Garrus.  I like how he and Tali develop into characters Shephard can love and respect as peers in ME2, but the relationship definitely isn't as deep as the one with Liara.

While we're on the topic, does Thane remind anyone else of Dream from the Sandman books?  I don't want my characters bedding Neil Gaiman for some reason.

I'm a guy whose "canon" Shephard is a female paragon BTW.

Eh, this may have been brought up before, but what about the "break up" reactions of the LI's? Despite how the romance scenes worked out, I found the break up ones interesting as in they may imply something different/more-
I wonder has anyone changed their thoughts from observing the break ups?
Example, my initial reaction from Garrus' reply to romance was silly and wasn't sure if it was serious (although of course that may have just been his personality) yet the breakup scene was such a huge depressing blob compared to the others. (Well I've always liked Garrus and I'm happy for the LI but yeah, hope I'm makin sense hehe)

I play a femshep and I'm a girl and I liked Liara just a wee bit more that Kaiden, just because she was adorable with her stalkerishness. Going into ME2 though, I don't care too much for Liara's change. Hell if she WAS more like Benezia would like her even more. (weirdo)
The break up with Kaiden in my main run totally severed my interest with him.
I don't care for Thane's personality. Thane and Samara as spiritual characters are reasons why I like them the least. I flat out denied his romance option. But the fangirls on deviant art make Thane look uber sexy, I admit.

I thought Jacob was completely uninterested in my femShep so I was turned off by him. I guess femShep's "seductive" tone was my tone XD but when all I got was apathetic responses, I didn't care anymore. I think he has the equivalent of Miranda's butt on a dude though. He's got a nice body and my straight renegade femShep will definitely go after him.

For my femShep that is most like me, I went with Garrus. Even in ME1, my character agreed and encouraged his vigilante mindset. So this felt like a natural friendship turn into romance. Even though the love scene was a litle corny for my tastes, I still thought it was cute. Can't wait to see Kaiden's face when he learned I cheated on him with Garrus. XD

Ashley and Kaidan are so dismissive that IMHO they don't deserve a faithful Shepard.  And Ashley is even still "no fan of aliens".

Answering the poll, I am a male gamer who even as a FemShep has a soft spot for Liara. Garrus is funny and Thane is pretty cool, yet they are no match for Liara. Kaidan and Jacob mostly just annoyed me, with Jacob being the most boring option.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the game at this point so I might not be able to give as complete an answer as when I've finished some of the romances but... I went into the game fully expecting to romance Garrus since I'd been wanting him as an option since the first installment and Kaiden came across as a whiny mindless git to me. Even so, I went with him originally because I wanted to see -some- of the romance options and Liara was a bit too blah imo. Meeting up with Kaiden in ME2... at first I was like great, he's being a total jerk to me and dismissive of our previous relationship, so screw him - more reason to move on. But the message deal he sent afterwards was surprisingly persuasive. The whole "that night meant everything to me" and the "I couldn't move on after everyone thought you were gone" etc. Basically him saying the relationship really REALLY meant something to him. I was a bit taken aback, like... an apology + cute lovey-ness? Not saying he's 100% in the clear but it actually made me stop and really consider the guy, which I never thought I would end up doing.

So... Garrus and Thane. When Thane was announced I thought he was intriguing... and then talking with him he got really intriguing... and I kinda sorta ended up wanting to be with him as well. And yet Garrus is so adorable and I still feel loyal to him from before... gah! It's actually a tough decision this go around. I still think I'll end up with Garrus for my first playthrough but nice work BW for getting me invested in the characters. And yes, I haven't said a thing about Jacob because... well, I don't have anything to say. Sadly. I think he's a nice guy and all but it was pretty much "do you like me y/n" the first time we ever talked and since then our conversations have been fairly bland, hence I don't feel much for him.

Jacob's romance lines were just about the worst I've ever seen in a game.



Garrus' romance was a bit of a character let down for me.



Never tried Thane.



Don't have ME1.

I didn't like how I acted towards Jacob so I didn't romance him. But he is a great bro even for FShep.

Garrus was just plain funny, cute and awkward, something I'd expect from him. I like the fact that the romance happen because she had that much trust in him.

I couldn't romance Thane, When I started talking to him, I realized that what he needed was a friend, not a lover. Very much like Samara in that what they needed was just someone to listen to them. It felt wrong and disrespectful to start flirting with him. Thats just me.

Liara, not interested in F/F relationship but she does have a codependent relationship with Shep. I'd consider her weak. Once she makes an emotional attachment, she can't seem to function as an individual.

Tali, I can understand why men fall so hard for her. She is sweet and sassy, a great combination for a girl. But she is WAY to young.

I'm currently playing ME1 so I can't say much about Kaiden and Ashley, though, Ashley is a very realistic and dynamic character. Kaiden and Ashley's mentality are polar opposite. So it is interesting to get both sides of a situation. Well done Bioware.

Miranda, She is an alright person, but she is kinda of needy and insecure.

Jack, I like her alot. With her background I'm surprise that she didn't turn out worse. That is a testament of her inner strength and detemination. I wish I could mother her as a FShep.

That's it for me, I usually play FShep and have yet to play an MShep.

Kaidan. I'll always pick Kaidan over anyone. He's Carth/Scorch/Kaidan. Plus I like his character, though many don't. Garrus is a nice option too. The rest are boring or boarder on the stalker zone..

Femgamer. Thane's my fav, followed closely by Liara. The only LIs I really didn't like were the human guys and Miranda.
