Same problem here. Others are having this problem too from what I have read. Guess we wait for the patch to patch the patch.

i have the same issue - using Radeon X550/1050 Series Video Controller - when i try and load game message pops up "Unable to find supported video". Been looking to find a list of supported video cards - have tried on two different computers and neither work - same message. When i downloaded the patch - nothing worked.

Same issue here, might have to reinstall and not install the patch for now. It's pretty new so not unexpected that it might have some flaws.

After I patched the game it won't start anymore. Trying to start the .exe file directly (daorigins.exe) won't work either: An error message shows up, basically saying that the game won't start because the game configuration incorrect. It seems to me that the patch messed up the game configuration somehow. I might reinstall the game if I don't find a quicker solution.

I think this is a serious error which should be fixed ASAP.

Same problem. I bought the game today so I went straight to DL the patch after doing the install which went fine. I guess I should have tried the game first before patching to make sure it is the patch that is causing the problem and not something else.

Edit: Tried starting from the .exe file too and no go. I stuck another game disk into the DvD drive just to make sure its not my drive and it worked fine. Its definitely the DAO game.

For those having problems after the patch (besides the Game Explorer icon no longer working, this didn't fix that for me), try installing this (get the x86 version I believe, even if you're on 64-bit, or so I've been told):

Fobok:

Have you actually tried installing this Microsoft ATL Security Update? Did it work? My problem is that when I click on Play in the Dragon Age game launcher nothing happens (no error messages). Everything worked fine until I installed the patch.

Azkor:

Everything is stored in "My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age". You should backup this directory before attempting a reinstall.

Fobok, you're a genius! Works fine with the x86 version now. Running Vista x64 SP2 here with a 4870 - are other people having the problem with similar setups?
