I'm playing through second time as a female Shepard and find my options for a romance is Thane the lizard man, the armor skinned Garrus, or Jacob, the most boring, and only human man in the team! (except from Zaed who can't be romanced precumably because he's old. He's a hell lot more interesting than Jacob)

As a butch soldier Shepard I would think there's a 50/50 chance she might be lesbian but there's not even an option for it!!

Tbh I chose for her not to have a romance because of this.
Male Shepards get super sexy Miranda and the tough to crack Jack (also sexy as hell in an unorthodox way, suits a renegade Shep imo), and Tali the super star alien of the ME universe.

Anyone else feeling Female Shepards are romantically disadvantaged?

Eh, to me all the ME2 LIs are somewhat lacklustre.

Thane is too manufactured, Jacob is... ugh.. Miranda annoys me, Jack is repulsive both in looks and personality.

The only ones that seem at all interesting are Garrus and Tali, and that's probably because they're from ME1. Even then, Garrus seems a little awkward and from what I've seen the Tali romance is a little creepy.

That just means they've got no strings attatched.

Tali's sweet about it, and Garrus is more about trust than actual romance. But I agree with The Angry One,
There's just something lacking about 2's LI's. Jacob 'the priiiize' Taylor aside.

If you honestly think there aren't legitimate reasons to dislike Jacob as an LI and instead focus on his race, then you are the racist, not I.

I'm assuming that the dislike for Jacob is due to the fact that he is a decorative object more than a person. He had a good chance to get a personality during his loyalty mission, but that went literally nowhere.

I disagree about Jack, though. She has a rough surface, but as a character she's one of the most deep and interesting in ME2. But that's not a matter for FemShep, ofcourse.

Jack isn't necessarily deep, it's more that she's the 'deepest'.

I thought it was obvious she would be all soft and mushy inside. She's bald and covered in tattoos and a possible LI, that just screams soft and mushy inside.

Both the operatives seem to be there screaming ""screw me", neither of them have any real depth. Thane also seems a bit strange because he would be one of the last characters you get, he has huge family issues and he is an assassin which wouldn't make sense for Shepard.

From what I have been told there is a big group of girl gamers that are into Thane. Me personally, the LI's suck in ME2, at least for male shep. I have a couple of femsheps, but don't even try the romance route with them.

The girls are in to Thane because he's all dying and romanticising and stuff.

They like it.

No. YOU as a femshep are disadvantaged, not her.

I find Jacob insanely boring as well, but there are people who like him.

Why are you getting angry at the guy? He focuses on race because of penis envy.

Screwing with someone's quotes intentionally is low IMO. Especially about such a hot button issue.

I suppose I think of Jacob as ME2's Kaidan, an opinion which might well get me lynched.

Anyway, isn't Kelly enough love for everyone?  <insert childish remark involving space scabies here> :P

Given as his femshep exists only through him, she's romantically disadvantaged.

Lack of an option suits me just fine.  I guess I am a guy in the minority on this topic in this forum.  I love women,  but I don't have any interest in lesbian sex/relationships.

Sure. Then I suggest he changes the topic to "My Fem Shepard romantically disadvantaged". ^_^

Or... if you prefer hard logic...

Yes maybe you are right but maybe you're wrong too.
When playing RPG's I like to be immersive and figure out what my character would like to do. For example, playing renegade and forcing yourself to pick the ruthless path is for your Shepard is not always easy (like piting the Geth and the Migrant fleet against each other when you as a player knows it's not going to end well). So when I played a male renegade Shep he chose to seduce Jack.  When I play a fem para Shep I would like a choice that fits the personality of my shep. But you might be right too. Maybe it's just because Jacob isn't my type of guy.

So is it because of the large team that the characters seem less interesting?

Jacob: I like him as a character, but his romance is not romantic. Is great for a good laugh, I just can't take it seriously. Physically, I find him quite acceptable.

Thane: Like somebody said, manufactured as a romance. Still a good character, and I think it's a (strange) but ok option for femshep (and they should have included manshep too). Too angsty for me in the emotional side of the romance. Physically... Well, that's my favorite part, but it kinda makes me feel shallow.

Garrus: Shepard's perfect match, I think. For both Shepards actually. Although I wish their romance had been a bit, just a little bit more obvious about the love between them. And a hug instead of the headbutt. Physically, I've always loved Garrus. I won't go into detail.

I can't really compare them with the female LIs, but I do think that they should have done with Zaeed what they did with Jack: sort of a match for renegade Shepard. He's much better than Jacob, in any way.

Why are always the femshep players who are moaning about the LI's, while the maleshep LI's are not much better/ just as bad. Yet you don't see us maleshep players creating lots of topics about the crappy LI's. -_-

romance in ME never was something really interesting and more like a gimmick to me. We should care so much about it and just play the game for all it's awesomeness it has to offer.

I think romance matters a little more to the women you know just like in real life. This thread was started by a guy though right?
