Ahhh, Those Who Fight Further is excellent. A mainstay of my video game music playlist. Agree about Sephiroth's final theme (so overplayed), but I do love FF7's soundtrack otherwise. Cosmo Canyon? Jenova's theme? Bombing Mission? Those Chosen By the Planet (honestly I consider this to be Sephiroth's theme way more than the choral stuff)? It's all wonderfully atmospheric.Kerridan Kaiba wrote...
Personally for me FF VII didn't have the best music. It had tracks I loved. Those Who Fight is one of my favorite songs from the series. That's pretty much all that stuck out. Sephiroth's theme is one of the most overused and remixed songs in the whole series. His song comes up in everything Square related.
If I wanted to talk about soundtracks, I loved Eternal Sonata’s not only for Chopin’s work but also the original songs. The Tales of Series has some awesome music along with Soul Calibur.
You want to stick with FF music, FFXI had a terribly wonderful soundtrack. There wasn’t a song I didn’t like.
FF11? I didn't think Uematsu worked on the MMO. Never played it, never had the $$ or the processing power for an MMO. 9 is probably my favorite my favorite FF soundtrack; You're Not Alone and Protecting My Devotion just stuck with me so much after first playing the game.
If we're talking video game soundtracks, though, I gotta toss in a nod to Persona 3 (dat final boss music), Persona 4, and Devil Summoner. Pretty different from Final Fantasy, and I'm not usually a fan of J-Pop, but for some reason I really love the more modern spin.
