After he pointed it out, I just thought the little guy was utterly adorable... even when he'd hit on the women!

:) At least for Issun, I'd let him slide on it if he hit on me. His cuteness does it for me.

I'm purposefully taking this sentence the wrong way. Issun has taught me well! Image IPB

What would you let him slide on? Image IPB

As long as he doesn't crawl into my goodies and what not, I'm fine. You can look but don't touch... ;)

Well... technically neither of us can look or touch each other. I may not be even of this world as far as you know. You could be imagining things. Shouldn't you be in bed? ^_^

Not totally true. I have pictures in the picture thread, because I'm special like that. Image IPB

If you're referring to the thread, Pics of DA:O Players... then, no. I've never posted a picture on there. ^_^

...And you don't even know that I'm not fat, bald, and overweight! I think that means I get bonus points. Image IPB

Well, there are worse things.  For example, in real life I could be needy and weak like Bella from twilight, and guys could be incredibly creepy like Edward :P (note that I was forced to read the first book: I have avoided the rest like the plague).

But seriously, I really enjoyed Valkyria Chronicles.  I found the story engaging, and thought the combat system was very neat and well done.  It was definitely a switch from the RPGs I usually play.

Yes, for a JRPG it was quite innovative. Third person shooter + turn based RPG. Crazy cool. Image IPB

Much more so than the FF series. Don't get me wrong; I enjoy Final Fantasy.  However, I like JRPGs and WRPGs for very, very different reasons, and whichever one I end up playing at any given time depends on my mood.

To the poster mentioning Dante's Inferno (sorry, I forgot your name), I was also disappointed.  All that hype and media craziness for nothing, apparently.  I haven't played it yet (too many GOOD games to play), but I was hoping it would turn out to be amazing, as I like the source material a lot.  Alas, it was not to be.  Maybe I'll rent it eventually, if I get really bored.

On a random note, does anyone think Oblivion was overrated?  It's a good game no doubt, but seems to be lacking something to me, that soul a game needs to be really special.  Either that, or else I'm competely mental.

Don't worry, I agree with you here. It requires different mind sets to play JRPGs and WRPGs. Sometimes you just want a little something something, and JRPGs/WRPGs can't deliver, for whatever reason.

As a fan of Morrowind and its expansions, Oblivion was a tad disappointing at first, but I grew to love it even more. I love free roaming/exploring, so it's pretty much porn for me.

Hmm. It was the first game I played on the PS3 and I had no idea what the heck I was doing after a while, so perhaps I'll start anew...after I play more Dragon Age: Origins, of course :D It was the first really open RPG I had played, though.

Ah, yes. Morrowind was my first. It's a bit overwhelming, isn't it? No direction at all. Just "Have fun! Yeah, you CAN do the main quest, but it's the worst part of the whole game, so don't bother. Plus, it's probably 1/100 of what the game has to offer!"

Yeah; I seem to remember doing some random quests, and then either dying a lot while in Oblivion itself, or spending the night on the ship and waking up, trapped and unable to fight my way out. Grand times, those.

Before then, I had played a few Final Fantasy Games, Okami, Ocarina of Time and other games of that nature, so Oblivion was definitely a wakeup call.

Ah, yes. I honestly did the main quest once, and never touched it from then on. I hated the Oblivion gates. Just about everything else is far more interesting.

Also, I suggest doing one of three things: Setting the game to the easiest setting, never leveling up, or learning how to level up efficiently. Oblivion has AWFUL level scaling, so not leveling is probably the easiest way to avoid the issue. Just don't sleep (unless it is required by a quest) and you will still gain experience in your skills.

Can you tell that I like this game? I do. I like it a lot! Image IPB

Good to know. I think one of my problems was that I was so used to JRPGs where if I had problems defeating a particular boss, I could just level grind until I could beat the darn thing. Not the best strategy for a game like Oblivion, but I guess I didn't research game strategies like I could have.

This helps. It's a lot to digest, but if anything can help you enjoy the game, it's that. If you still don't like it, that's fine. I don't expect everyone to like every game that I enjoy. if anything, it makes me like you more for giving it a second chance, even though you may not have had the best experience with it the first time around. Go you! Image IPB

Thanks; I'll definitely check that link out.  I feel that now I'm have more time with the PS3 and RPGs in general, I might like it better.  Knowing what I'm doing helps as well; I got started on video games a lot later than most people in these forums, and don't get to play as regularly as I would like.

I'm all about giving games second chances; I remember hating FFX when I started playing it originally (as a rental).  I returned it, and then inexplicably bought it later on.  After that, it was one of my favorite games for quite some time.  I remember giving up on Ocarina of Time for a while as well (it was the first video game I played, and it was a challenge for me), but loved it when I went back to it later.

Oblivion may be my "project" in August, when I don't have work or college classes.  Sounds like a good way to spend the last few weeks of the summer to me!  Image IPB

Hello, Onyx Jaguar. I'm glad to see someone else is awake.

This thread has certainly been derailed. What can I say; I'm good at that.

Anyway...
