It is quiet simply rubbish. There have been better shooters before and since. Crytek should stick to making tech demos and engines. They just can;t make good games.

Underrated:
Grim Fandango.

It sold poorly but it was probably the best game LucasArts ever made in the adventure genre.

edit: I just wanted to add that Bloodlines and JSRF are amazing.

Overrated would rather be ME2 or MW2. I dont think game reviewers should be giving this game such high scores, it barely even told a great story like the first one, basically a shooter with fancy dialouge. I say MW2 because I dont know anyone who doesn't get mad at the game after a play through. I can only play it with my friends lol.

Underrated would be hmm.... maybe viva pinata or im not sure if anyone cares about ff13 but I have a feeling us rpgers are bashing this game. We have been introduced to a lot of wrpgs since the last final fantasy like dragon age, fallout 3, oblivion. It tells a great story though and the combat is fun and interesting, its worth playing. I say viva pinata because it gets looked over because its presented as a kids game. Its actually a very....... veryyyyy deep game. Lots of micromanagement in that game, fun if you like being the boss lol.

Overrated: Most of the first person shooters I've played, and I hale from the shooter crowd. I played a lot of titles back in high school, along with friends and the media hype for shooters, but at their core FPS' are very simplistic games that get boring fast. Special note on Crysis, most over-hyped game engine ever, probably the worst optimized ever. CryTech3 is the living proof, since it runs on a X360...



I would exclude the original Half-Life and F.E.A.R, although the sequels were pretty mediocre, in my opinion. The originals had intense firefights and great atmosphere/story/pacing. And to chip in on Halo:Combat Evolved - it was good. The sequels turned it into an overrated, bloated and stagnating franchise, but Halo was a nice game.



Underrated: Oh, so many titles... FreeSpace 2. That's one of the greatest games ever, in my opinion - the engine has been released for free and is still being tweaked by fans, so it looks good 11 years on. And it had an amazing story - not only for a space combat sim, which is a feat in its own right - I mean one of the best executions of a story in a video game. I know most people here enjoy games with great storylines, so I honestly recommend you try it, even if you've never touched a space sim before (and it's a great one).



At its core FreeSpace 2's story has some similarity to Mass Effect, but it's a lot arker, scarier and desperate. Plus it achieves two great feats - it reveals much, yet enough remains in mystery to keep you interested and it achieves a great balance between being a "hero" and a regular grunt, who sees a massive space war unfold around him.



Seriously, try that game. The ending alone is epic enough to deserve it! Oh, poor Capella...

The most overrated goes to Fallout 3. Leaps and bounds. I have never seen a game so thoroughly overrated in my entire life. Fable 2 is a close second.



The most underrated game? I don't really know. There are a lot of games I had a blast with that people hated.One that sticks out is Okami. That was such a lovely game. I haven't finished it but I will in the near future.

Take away the choice based storytelling, a design I feel hurts a story more than helps it (I can expand on this if required), and you're left with very generic, unimaginative, and simplistic stories.

Redsteel: People said this was a horrible game. Its was actually amazing and a first of its kind.
