Besides. Most gamers are MALES, who want to see a badass in the trailers/adds/art, sales would drop by a LOT if they replaced male Shep with Female Shep.
And before someone gets a smart idea, I do play a female Shepard.

I can't complain too much though, since the character creator in ME2 was worlds better than one in ME1.

Having both male and female Shepard in the same picture is a bad idea. I mean, it's not sister and brother Shepard. It's Shepard who can be male or female. So don't put them in the same picture.

I'd prefer to see some FemShep marketing for ME3. It's silly that a game where you customize your character is limited in marketing to one and same face all the time. And preferably the boxart shouldn't have a character portrait, at all. What's wrong with a more abstract cover? That coverbox for the Collector's Edition had the right idea - just a close shot of the N7 armour with blood on it. It was stylish, abstract and neutral at the same time.
True I did like it, though only people who played ME 1 would understand the reference, so going with the more mass appeal style covers gets more people in.
I did see that at first in stores and recognized it the moment I saw it, then some other people were looking at it and said "I don't understand, What type of game is it?" then walked away. So there is some give and take.

Yeah that kind of thing makes me facepalm. I usually read the back of most games so if the developer fails to proper label the game that's their fault. (I know better than to judge a game by the boxart).

Kind of unlikely to change it now. But they could make 2 different versions of the cover art, one with male Shep and one with female Shep. Players could choose which one they wanted and collectors would probably buy both.
Sorry for Double post (if no one postsed yet) but here is the answer. "Reversable Cover" Have a Male shep image on one side then a Fem Shep image on the other so you can go either way.

Try the poll in my sig to find out.Costin_Razvan wrote...
They can't do that. For continuity sake the box art and adds will stay with male Shepard.

Of course it's not a proper poll, but it gives some indication that there is a substantial interest in FemShep.
And yes, another poll indicates that male players are the majority.

And really if you were perusing your local game store and saw a box with a giant waffle holding a cannon on a box you would be curious. You would have to look at it.

The commercials should all be shots like the close ups of Miranda's booty when Shep is talking to her but of FemSheps booty and chest in a montage style.

I think if they give FemShep armor like Samara (or is that lack of armor?) --- then and only then should they put her on the boxart!

The sells of Mass Effect 3 would be astronomical after those commercials.
